0221: The One With The Bullies

- Phoebe’s various signs that she should go see her father is great.
- The first scene with the bullies is a good one.
- The Monica story in this one is good enough.
- Phoebe’s story I could probably do without…
- Ross calling on Gunther to help them with the bullies is great, I love how Gunther obviously has caught the writer’s eyes at this point and is getting more and more actual screen time.
- I love Joey calling to tell about the dog.
- At this point in the show’s run, I’m not thrilled with Frank Junior…
- The last scene with the bullies is a great one. Love Chandler falling over.
- YMCA! Great last scene!
- I’m kind of on the fence about this one; it got some good and some I couldn’t care less about…

0222: The One With the Two Parties

- Wow that’s an exposition heavy teaser…
- I’m always amused by the mention of other friends of the Friends that we never actually see.
- Rachel’s dad! He’s great, much more enjoyable a character than the mother.
- What would Jack and Chrissy do?” – hee
- The party scenes here are teeming with music that later was on the Friends Soundtrack CD. I only mention this because those particular songs will forever be linked to Friends in my mind. Strangely they’re also linked to Legend of Zelda: OoT because I got that CD and that game the same Christmas (98). Just thought I’d mention it…
- I love Phoebe sneaking people out of Monica’s party.
- This episode doesn’t really have any faults; everybody is very much in character and the premise is concise and good.
- I like the Chandler and Rachel scene quite a bit.

Tom Selleck is great in this episode. I love the look on his face when he's telling Monica about his weird thing. He just looks so excited that he finally had something weird about him.

Starting to fall behind here...

2.21 "The One With The Bullies"

I actually like the Phoebe storyline. At first it seems pretty lame, but once you rewatch it later it begins to work better when you see how this builds up to her developing a "family" relationship with her half brother Frank Jr. This was the first time I saw Giovanni Ribisi in a role, and his career later took off. He actually had a cameo earlier in the season when Phoebe was "on strike" and playing outside of the coffee shop. He was the guy who mistakenly threw a condom in her guitar case instead of money. In a way, he could have been playing Frank Jr. in that scene, since neither he or Pheebs knew of the other's existence and his name wasn't mentioned then. Think maybe the writers were "teasing" the viewers early? thinking

The bully plot works too. I love how they all lay out the "ground rules" of the fight.

B+

2.22 "The One With Two Parties"

Another classic. The guys & girls throwing two parties with the intent of keeping Rachel's parentals separated is gold. In a way, I think this ep is more truly representative of the "Friends dynamic" than the prom video episode, given the lengths they go to to support Rachel. The guys especially go the extra mile to keep them separated right at the end. Joey kissing Mrs. Green = laugh

A

2.23 "The One With The Chicken Pox"

On Drago's Scale of Friends Guest Stars (tm), Charlie Sheen is an 8. I don't really buy him as having a military bearing, but he makes the most of his role as Phoebe's love interest. The sexual-substitute of their scratching each other's pox is great. "It' such a shame you can't see which finger I'm holding up." laugh

The Monica & Richard storyline is funny, but not as funny to me anymore. Monica's OCD now reminds me too much of a former co-worker's OCD. [/wincing]

The "Joseph" storyline also works. Chandler's ending up looking bad in front of his co-workers is now funnier to me for a similar reason like my OCD co-worker: I can now totally see how other co-workers of mine don't really work, they just play the role of an employee and still manage to collect a check. whistling

A

0223: The One With the Chicken Pox

- Love the teaser with Chandler repeatedly unable to deliver his jokes.
- Charlie Sheen! A guy with a lot of issues, but I’ve always liked him. He got a very distinctive delivery.
- “The lightning was an unfortunate coincidence!” – hee
- I like all three stories in this one, but I don’t really have much to say about them…
- Love Richard’s excitement when explaining why he needs to sleep on that side of the bed.
- Great tag with Ross and Rachel at Central Perk.

B

0224: The One With Barry and Mindy’s Wedding

- The teaser does nothing for me except to set up Joey’s story, which is totally the least part of in this episode.
- Rachel’s maid of honor dress is perfect.
- “Woo-hoo! Geek!” – hee
- I feel so bad for Monica in this one. She and Richard are seemingly so perfect together, but she can never be quite happy with him.
- Chandler’s story in this one is okay, but I’m all about the stuff at the wedding in this one.
- I don’t really mind Barry in this one, as opposed to his previous appearances.
- Love Rachel singing Copacabana, it’s a great moment.
- The last Monica and Richard scene is heartbreaking, they truly were great together.
- Oh My God! Janice! Oh My God! I guess they needed a cliffhanger…
- This is one of the least dramatic season finales the show ever did. Sure, they bring back Barry and Mindy, break up Richard and Monica and end the episode with the Janice cliffhanger, but the episode as a whole never really felt like a season ender to me. I realize now that it’s not something I really can explain cohesively, but I hope that made sense.
- Solid episode, but almost a little disappointing as a season finale.

Looking at all my reviews for this season, the average grade is just above a solid B.

Highest rated episode: 0214: The One With the Prom Video
Lowest rated episode: 0209: The One With Phoebe’s Dad

Season 3!

3.01 "The One With The Princess Leia Fantasy"

* Episode Number: 49
* Original Air Date: September 16, 1996
* Written by: Michael Curtis & Gregory S. Malins
* Directed by: Gail Mancuso
* Guest Cast:
o Maggie Wheeler (Janice)

Detailed summary

Monica is disfunctional because of her breakup with Richard. Joey can't stand having Janice around all the time; she invites him on a "day of fun" so they can get to know each other. Ross and Rachel talk about their fantasies; Rachel then tells Phoebe and Monica about Ross's Princess Leia fantasy. Phoebe helps Monica try to relax. Ross and Chandler share personal information, which leads to some unleasant side effects for Ross. Mr. Geller shows up and comforts Monica.

"Joey and Janice's DAY OF FUN!" tongue

Ross' princess leia fantasy was great, and it was great when we saw Rachel actually doing it, too bad Chandler had to ruin this scene for everybody. tongue

A good fun episode, and the beginning of when the show really started to take off.

Is this the "Count Rushmore" episode?

0301: The One with the Princess Leia Fantasy

- I got a problem with the teaser: it shows Monica out of the apartment and smiling, while it is later mentioned that she's been depressed in her apartment since the break up.
- Love Janice singing in the morning. And I love Joey’s hatred for her even more: “Goodbye Janice” - hee
- Am I crazy or wasn’t Carrie Fisher hotter in ESB than ROTJ? Sure the slave outfit is nice, but still…
- Count Rushmore – hee
- I love how very clear Phoebe has rules about what’s allowed in the Happy Place.
- “Joey and Janice’s Day of Fun!” – hee
- This is probably my favorite Janice episode.
- The first mention of the “Girl at the Xerox place”… Interesting that she is mentioned in the very first episode of this season, I always kinda wondered if the writers already knew how they were gonna break up Ross & Rachel.
- Sweet little scene between Monica and her dad at the end.
- Ross’ mom in the gold bikini is kinda unsettling…
- As a whole the episode is very solid with no obvious faults.

Chandler's reaction to "Who's the guy that put those faces on the mountain" is absolutely perfect.

Can't wait for the next episode. My 2nd favourite of the whole 10 series grin

I'm not the biggest friends fan- sure I've seen every episode, but I wouldn't call it one of my favorite shows. However, till this day I still love this single episode because of it's homage to Star Wars. Also, Rachel telling Pheobe about Ross's fantasy and Pheobe being like "oh yeah, the golden bikini, I've done it." and also "Help me Ross Kenobi!" with the cinnamon buns. Classic.
