Same format as last year, folks. Post your favorites now, then at the end of the year, we'll post them again and see how they changed.

5. You Don't Mess With the Zohan

4. Cloverfield

3. The Inredible Hulk

2. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

1. Iron Man

So far, I would have to say that 2007 was a better year for film. But looking ahead, it seems that 2008 will get much better.

1) The Dark Knight

2) Iron Man

3) Kung Fu Panda

4) Get Smart

5) The Incredible Hulk

Can't remember all the films I've seen this year, but those are my top five.

I find it's hard to judge the first half of the year until mid-august, as that's the unofficial end of the summer blockbuster season (the last two weeks usually have more guilty pleasure or 2nd-tier actioneers or comedies), which I feel can't really be broken up.

I mean, it's kind of hard to judge 2008's first part without factoring in The Dark Knight, Hellboy, X-Files, Mummy, Pineapple Express or Tropic Thunder.

I mean, at the very least you need to finish July out.

1. Doomsday. Very underrated Mad Max-ish film with a surprising philosophical undercurrent that it appears only I noticed.

2. Iron Man. The best Marvel origin story yet. Downey Jr. made Tony Stark, who I always disliked a little in the comics, a very great, likable and deep character. The action was a bit light, but that's OK since we all know it was there to kick off a franchise.

3. Left blank for emphasis.

4. The Incredible Hulk. I was disappointed. The Hulk CGI was amazing. Norton can't be bad, but the movie still wasn't really good. I just haven't seen anything else better this year.

5. One of the 2 or 3 really bad movies I was dragged to.

I'm guessing based on previews that Hellboy II will easily nab the #1 spot and The Dark Knight will go above Iron Man, but we'll see. I really don't like Batman because the character is a complete wanker, but the Nolan films have been undeniably good.

1) Narnia: Prince Caspian
2) IJ: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
3) Wanted
4) Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I'm guessing The Dark Knight & The Clone Wars will end up pretty high on my list as well.

1) The Dark Knight. I'm sure it will be there based on the clips alone.

2) Iron Man: To me, the pleasant surprise of the summer. Loved it
3) Get Smart: Another surprise for me. Really wasn't expecting to like it, but I did
4) Incredible Hulk: The Final Battle is what I loved about this movie. Norton was also good. Downey stole the show with his cameo though.
5) Indiana Jones: Harrison Ford was excellent. Plot not so much. But I did like it better after viewing it again.
6) Kung Fu Panda: Very entertaining and well thought out
7) Naria: I know 7 is bad, but I still quite enjoyed it.

Yeah. I went there. Batman/Bruce Wayne is just a rich jerk who is utterly unlikable. Brooding and incapable of thinking deeply on the nature of crime. So what if I don't care if he lives or dies and actually want to see him get taken down a notch. The film is still going to be strong and they have to stay true to the character. It's nothing against the film. Merely the character.

I'm ecstatic to see the advance reviews of HBII are positive. Between del Toro's visual sense, he and Mignola's strong writing skills and Perlman's grounded, human and hilarious portrayal of Hellboy it's going to be great. Just watch the trailer and check out this exchange.

HB: All clear here, babe.

Liz: Don't call me babe.

HB: *pauses a second* Abe. I said Abe.

That's why I like Hellboy more. He's not a brooding ****. He's just a normal guy with a major life issue of being big, red and the harbinger of the apocalypse. But unlike Batman he just says screw you to those who would use him, does his job and tries to enjoy life.
