Of course we are wink

I am afraid this is going to be much over hyped here, as much as I like Hugh Jackman and Baz's films

I saw the trailer in front of Indy IV, I don't think it was the right audience for the trailer but at least me and the other girl could swoon over Hugh Jackman. I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend money to see it in the cinema though. I generally like Luhrman's films though so I might change my mind.

It's Luhrman's first film in a long time.

Luhrman, Kidman, Jackman? I'll see it.

I have seen the trailer and read a few articles about this film and I'm very much looking forward to it. Luhrman's storytelling always lures me in. tongue

Looks awesome. I'm really looking forward to seeing this epic film in the theater.

"Australia: Can It Sink Titanic?

"Marcos Oliveira, the head of 20th Century Fox in Australia, is taking aim at his studio's own Titanic, telling the Sydney Morning Herald that he believes the upcoming Australia, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman and directed by Baz Luhrmann will become "the biggest [film] of all time" in that country. Speaking at the Australian International Movie Convention, Jackman called his part in the film "the role of a lifetime."

They are hyping this to a fare-thee-well. I hope that's not a bad sign.

My prediction: it will not come close, financially or critically.

Emphasis mine - I think they're talking about it being the biggest film in Australia specifically, not the world over (which would be a wee bit of a crazy prediction silly ).

Even so, I doubt it would break Titanic down under either when you consider the numbers it would need - All Time Australia Boxoffice (only to mid-2007, but still accurate for the top grossing films)

Hasn't it been discussed earlier in this forum that Titanic got so big because it ran for so long in the cinemas, now people see the film once, or twice if it's really good, but we all know we just have to wait a couple of months until we can see it on DVD.

The premiere is set for the 25th of December here. Me and some of the family usually goes to the cinema together around Christmas, so this might be the film this year.

Luhrmann had better hope it works; he hasn't made a film since "Moulin Rouge"

I'm looking forward to this one. I don't think commercially it'll do much, but it's the traditional Boxing day (26th December) release here in the UK, which makes it a bit more special.

Heh, this movie is a transparent tourism advertisement. Also, from the trailer, it reminded me of 'Pearl Harbor' though with better actors.

*shrug* I'll probably watch it when comes on HBO or whatever, but I won't be rushing to the cinemas. UNLESS the reviewers say it is the quality of 'Pearl harbor', maybe then I'd be interested to see if it's that bad, heh heh.

Alas, I think it'll probalby just be mediocre.
