Breaking Bad
A
"Breaking Bad's new second season is a doozy of dysfunction. Having established in the first season that Walt White, with his dumb-thug former student Jesse (the excellently stupefied Aaron Paul), will do anything, even kill, to make the money he needs for his family, the second season doesn't bother with soul-searching or recapping. Series creator Vince Gilligan (The X-Files) starts off where season 1 ended, with Walt and Jesse cutting deals with the hopped-up, violent Tuco (Raymond Cruz, never over-the-top). Ultimately, Bad is a superlatively fresh metaphor for a middle-age crisis: It took cancer and lawbreaking to jolt Walt out of his suburban stupor, to experience life again — to take chances, risk danger, do things he didn't think himself capable of doing. None of this would work, of course, without Emmy winner Bryan Cranston's ferocious, funny selflessness as an actor. For all its bleakness and darkness, there's a glowing exhilaration about this series: It's a feel-good show about feeling really bad. —Ken Tucker"

Who cares about Steven King? Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul were on the Soup this past week trying to figure out a way to market peanut brittle to meth heads.
That's the mark of a special TV show.

Does no one else here watch this show? I think it's the best show on television right now.

I don't know if it's
the
best, but it's definately one of them.
I just wish Time Warner Cable would offer AMC in HD. Mad Men and Breaking Bad are two of my favorites, and the only ones I still have to watch in SD.

I watched the first season and thought it was very good. Nice black humour in the show.

I really felt bad for Jesse last night. Walt's got some problems because he basically shafted his family, but Jesse's hurting worse after what his parents did to him. I also think Walt is becoming increasingly despicable as a character and hopefully he comes back before taking the plunge off the deep end.

'Breaking Bad': Do not miss it tonight: Bob Odenkirk Alert!
Apr 26, 2009, 12:05 PM | by Ken Tucker
"Just when it seems Breaking Bad cannot get much better, the show exceeds its personal-best: Make sure you catch Bob Odenkirk's wily guest performance in the title role of the episode "Better Call Saul." As a devious defense attorney operating out of a strip mall, the former half of Mr. Show is the soulless Saul Goodman. Jabbering into his bluetooth, taking bribes as though they were giveaway-samples of Red Bull, Odenkirk's Saul manages to increase the energy of the already-wired Breaking Bad.
We can come back here tomorrow and discuss Walt and Jesse's latest stab at making meth, money, and good life-choices while avoiding jail-time. We can reconvene to praise Anna Gunn's increasingly prominent and wonderfully complex Skyler. And me, I can just say I'm going to start transcribing some of Walt's speeches to people like his conniving, dullard students and use them as inspirational texts.
But the main thing is: Dig this episode tonight. You'll thank me in the morning."

This show deserves a lot more attention than it gets. Every single episode completely blows me away.
