Hollywood Insider posted:Battlestar Galactica is getting the big-screen treatment. Universal Pictures has confirmed blog speculation that Bryan Singer, director of Valkyrie, will take on directing and producing duties for a BSG movie. Glen Larson, who created original series back in 1978, will produce as well. The film is not expected to be a continuation of current popular television show that’s running on the SyFy network but will be a complete re-imagining of the sci-fi lore that was invented by Larson back in the 70s.
Sith_Sensei__Prime posted:I don't think it's too soon for a BSG movie. It will be a year or so before the film hits theaters, and by that time BSG fans will be ready for it. I mean, fanboys were ready for The Hobbit flick shortly after Return of the King dropped into movie houses.
Spider-Fan posted:I'm not going to dismiss this outright based on the success of the most recent series, but it does have me scratching my head as to why they would do this so soon after the series ended. I also get the feeling that no matter how good Singer's version may or may not be it won't be given a fair shake given the absolute worship the new series gets.
