I can't believe this is the 19th installment (I haven't watched any since #7 Pearl Islands).

You've missed some great ones!

Survivor 8: All Star Survivor gave us the Robfather and Ambuh (congrats on the birth of their daughter BTW).
Survivor 9: Vanuatu - Islands of Fire was actually kind of boring with no really interesting characters.
Survivor 10: Palau featured the worst tribe of all time, Ulong, which was completely eliminated save one member, Stephanie, before the merge.
Survivor 11: Guatemala - The Mayan Empire brought back Stephanie, a fan fave, and this time she made it to the final two.
Survivor 12: Panama - Exile Island established the concept of Exile Island, where one person was sent each week. It didn't really work at first, but has since become a major part of the game.
Survivor 13: Cook Islands started amid controversy as the tribes were split along racial lines (caucasian, hispanic, asian, african-american) which caused longtime sponsor GM to pull out. It also introduced the world to Ozzy, a man who appears to have been genetically engineered in a lab to dominate the challenges.
Survivor 14: Fiji introduced Yau-Man, a 55 year old Chinese man who is one of the most popular Survivors ever. He was involved in controversy when he won a Ford and gave it to another contestant, Dreamz, on the condition that if they were in the final four and Dreamz had immunity, he would not vote out Yau-Man. That scenario came to be, but Dreamz went back on his deal and voted him out.
Survivor 15: China didn't really do much except promote Chine for the Olympics. No memorable personalities.
Survivor 16: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites was a twist on the all stars concept. One team of fans vs one team of all stars. All the returning players were from post-S8 except for Jonny Fairplay (who was still bitter about being left out of the first all star edition). Once again Ozzy dominated the challenges right from the beginning, and as soon as the others had the chance they voted him out. Yau-Man was also voted out early, because he was a huge threat on the mental/personal side of things.
Survivor 17: Gabon proved that you don't have to be a young buck to be a dominant player, as 57 year old Bob tied a record for most consecutive challenges won on his way to winning the million dollars over cutie pin-up model Sugar.
Survivor 18: Tocantins featured probably the most hated Survivor of all time, Coach, a pompous fool who was his own biggest fan. As well, it featured one of the most likable players, JT, who ended up winning it.

After this upcoming season, S20 is going to once again feature all stars. Richard Hatch, the original Survivor, was asked to compete, but due to being under house arrest for not paying taxes on his previous winnings, he was unable to (and now he's back in jail for saying his judge was prejudiced against gays). Since they are going all they way back to the beginning, it is anyone's guess who may be a cast member! I would love to see Rupert and Ozzy come back, as well as Coach just so I can have someone to hate.

Thanks for the summaries happy , and I stand corrected - I actually do recall seeing the first 'All Stars' series (though I think I may have missed a chunk of it during it's run).

I think they may have stopped screening the series in Australia however.

I used to love Survivor but lost track of it after Palau. I think Channel 10 were screening episodes last year on Saturday morninings from 11.30am but there was no advertising. I watched a couple of episodes but Channel 10 kept changing timeslots and eventually dropped it I think.

Survivor: Samoa

"Step aside, Memphis from Big Brother! There's a new ''mixologist'' in town, and his name is Ben. (Although he's not in town — he's in Samoa.) Ben considers himself a strategist, but mixing drinks is not rocket science. Which brings us to...the rocket scientist! (That would be John.) However, both men must bow down before the power that is Marine sergeant Shannon, who sports a mullet that puts even Survivor: China's Denise to shame. Which is a fancy way of saying that things are about to get hairy. —Dalton Ross"

TAKE HIM DOWN, BETSY! USE YOUR MAD POLICE SKILLS AND DETECTIVE THE HELL OUT OF RUSSELL!

tongue

Seriously, I hope Betsy and Russell stay in the game for a long time. They could have a great, great rivalry.

Sad to see Marisa go ( sad ), but honestly, if she stayed she either would've been a dumb coattail rider or yet another female power player, perhaps even villain. I've had enough of the feminine power dominating the seasons lately. It'll be nice to see a brand new slimy male villain, and not just a smoke screen like Coach was. I'm seriously over the parade of Sugars and Courtneys and Parvatis.

edit: I am seriously really happy with the way this season has started. Best beginning in a long time, IMO. I like everyone for their entertainment factors, obviously I dislike some people but appreciate the showmanship they bring to the game.

At the beginning, Jaison was pretty good with the swimming. At first, I was like, why doesn't he put his head down and breathe to the side? then I remembered he's in saltwater. Of course. He just used good ole water polo style. That is really difficult swimming, but still of course that motor mouth rocket scientist stood no chance.

Very happy to see that the nutty middle-aged lady didn't immediately get voted out like in so many prior seasons. Go Shambo!

Really? Link?

I kind of wonder what the big deal is if he really is a plant... I mean, isn't everyone on the show a plant? They're all picked and chosen by CBS...
