I love all types of mythology. Greek, Roman, Norse, it really doesn't matter. Please come in and lets talk about mythology.
I'm really interested in finding out about mythology from other parts of the world.

This site is a great reference point for mythology:
http://www.pantheon.org/mythica.html
But, truly; Joseph Campbell is the best place to start with mythology, if you ask me. He has a great series of books that studies folklore and myths from various areas of the world that you may want to check out.

Greek mythology is one of my favourite hobbies.
I'll be back later to discuss it more.

Just an interesting tidbit of mythology:
"Nabu" was the Sumero-Babylonian god of writing, literature and learning. I suspect that this is from where Lucas pulled the name "Naboo".

Greek mythology cracks me up! Man, the things Zeus did to get laid! Astounding!

Yeah, Zeus was a real horndog. Seems that he would more or less pounce on anyone/anything in sight when he was "in the mood."

If I had the kind of power Zeus did, I would use it to all it's advantages. Zeus was only trying to protect his lineage.
Naboo in Star Wars looks like it might possibly be a major cultural enviroment. That would explain why Lucas may have tapped that name.

Greek gods act very much like humans who have no fear of death. They do what they want and can. That's the main difference (and only one too) between greek and roman gods. Roman gods were just gods without any nice human behaviour.
I haven't read much norse mythology but I've read a lot of greek, roman, egyptian and finnish mythology. Since I guess not very many of you has heard anything about finnish mythology I could possibly give you a brief summary about that. It'll have to wait till next week however since I won't be home before that.

Indian mythology is pretty interesting. There are some similarities with Greek mythology, mainly because of Alexander the Great.
The reason most ancient religions have 12 major gods or demigods (such as archangels) is because of the twelve month calendar.

Don't talk about my dad that way, CwrnPuppet.
He'll shock you real good with lightening.
Funny thing is that Sebulba is actually a god, a very bad one, if I remember.

This is very interesting. I would like to hear everyone's favorite story. I definitely want to hear stories from other mythologies.

Ah... the old culture... beautiful
I think that if more people based their stories on Greek/Roman/Norse/Egyptian myths (or admitted that they already were), than literature would regain so much more of the old feel and brilliance.
My two cents for now,

I agree completely. I think story-telling is beginning to lose some of it's power.
