JMJacenSolo posted: Hawks-Celtics would be a completely different stratosphere than Warriors-Mavericks. The Warriors had beaten the Mavericks three out of four games in the regular season, and while not many picked the Warriors outright, virtually everybody predicted a tough series for Dallas.
Nobody thought Atlanta could win more than one game in this series, much less four. Go to the ESPN.com series page, 8 out of 10 analysts picked the Celtics to sweep, with the other two predicting them to win in 5. I also saw Greg Anthony on ESPN predict that the Celtics would win in 3, and he was only barely kidding.
Offhand, does anybody know the last time the home team won every game in a 7-game series?
Now they're all calling the biggest upset in NBA history. Though personally, I was expecting the Hawks to rally in this series. If they win, it would be an upset but not huge IMO.

The Celtics and Hawks have now played both the best and worst Game 7s ever.

Ouch. So much for upset... I gotta hand it to Boston, because they finally woke up and played like they were supposed to.

Despite the shoddy defense (Utah scored 98 points), and the Jazz killing the Lakers on the boards (58 rebounds compared to L.A.'s 41), today was a great start to this series for the purple & gold (they have yet to lose so far this postseason). Kobe being Kobe (38 points-21 of which came off of free throws-, 7 assists, 6 boards), the team sharing the ball well (24 total assists), 4 out of 5 starters (Fisher being the exception) scoring in double figures (Gasol chiming in with a double-double, 18 points & 10 boards), and Vujacic great off the bench (15 points).

The Lakers were impressive. I still think the Jazz will win two games before the Lakers close it out in six....but Deron Williams just had a poor game. Without him playing at a high level, the Jazz are doomed.

Can anyone explain why so many people seemed surprised that Kidd didn't get suspended after his flagrant foul that looked as if he was going for the ball and missed (granted, it was still a hard enough foul to warrant a flagrant call)... and after Marvin Williams' flagrant foul in Game 7, which certainly looked a hundred times worse than Kidd's, as he went straight for the body and regardless of whether he tried to hold Rondo up (of which I'm doubtful), people argue over whether or not he should have been ejected at all? Um, what? Shouldn't the argument be whether Kidd should have been ejected or not and whether Marvin Williams should be suspended for the first game next year?

In regards to my previous post, since I've seen the clip a few more times since then, I now think Marvin Williams should be suspended 2, maybe even 3 games for that foul. And to the person who wrote in to PTI claiming that KG's screen was far more vicious, are you out of your mind? KG's screen was a hard screen, but perfectly legal, and anything but malicious, a completely different ballpark from Marvin throwing Rondo to the ground via the "hug".

Is there anything sillier than when the team down 0-2 tries to rationalize their predicament via "They did what they were supposed do to"? What, does that mean the road team was supposed to just go and lose the first two games?

No, just that the home team is supposed to win, with no such expectations on the road team.

The problem with KG's screne is that he went to the side and had his shoulder into the screne. If he was setting a normal screne with his shoulders square to Pachulia it would have been legal. Kevin knew what he was doing. Especially after his confrontations before the play.

Why is it that teams are so quick to fire their coaches these days? I'm thinking of Dallas in particular, which fired Avery Johnson after two straight first round exits. Am I the only one who thinks that's ridiculous? Half of the teams that made it to the playoffs will leave after the first round. You don't need to make it to the Finals in order to call it a successful season. And Dallas did very well this season, considering how tightly packed the Western Conference was.

Avery's firing was among the stupider ones, I have to say.

well, that ending sucked. So did LeBron's shooting tonight.
Really reminded me of game 1 vs. the Pistons last year. Hopefully the end of this series mirrors that one, too.
Still ... even an average shooting night from LeBron (who needs to stop jacking up 3's) and we win that going away. ugh
