That was just an ugly game all around. Pierce and Allen also played really poorly.

yeah. gotta say KG really impressed me. The only guy with a really good offensive game for the Celtics (Rondo had a good first half), plus he showed up in the last minute with a clutch game-winner, something he's been criticized for (fairly, I'll add).
Z was the only Cav really on tonight on the offensive end, along with Boobie. As much as I love LeBron, tonight I'd have rather seen one of those two take that final shot when he missed the layup. Although, to get a layup attempt, I don't know if the Cavs could have asked for more ...

No kidding, huh? Pierce only had 4pts and none for Allen? I think they said that has only happened to him one other time in his career. Thankfully KG had a big game and the D played like they had all season.

I myself am a avid NBA fan and yes, I've been catching up with the playoffs. Anyways here's my view on the current matchups:
Celtics vs. Cavaliers - Today's game with Celts and Cavs was sort of disappointing especially with King James scoring only 12! But then again it's Boston so I'm not surprised. Personally, I'm actually interested in this matchup. After Boston's embarrassing opening round against the Hawks (thank God they won), they're going to have to be better prepared against the finals hardened Cavs team. Sure the Cavs got their asses kicked last year against the Spurs, but hey they got the Finals experience that the Celts lack. But overall, Boston's the obvious better team. But the Cavs managed to upset Detroit last year so this could get intense. In my opinion, the only way the Cavs will take this is to at least win twice in Boston! Now what Atlanta failed to do was beat Boston on its home turf. Maybe the Cavs might steal a game, but I just don't see it happening after Lebron's poor performance today. The only way Cavs can win this is if the role players step up in their game. Wallace is offensively challenged, but he's a damn good defender against KG. Joe Smith is an underrated scorer who should draw some attention before passing to Lebron who'll drive in for the finish or score some other way. The Cavs also have more shooters than the Hawks had so Celts need to tighten up their D. As for the Celtics, key for them is of course defend the King. Double team him most of the time and make him pass to other players. Have KG guard him most of the time as Pierce cannot take 'Bron by himself. Also the bench should also play excellently which isn't much of a problem since they play just as well as the starting lineup. Overall Cavs will make this interesting, but I don't think Lebron can pull this off by himself like he did last year. Celtics in 5 or 6.
Magic vs. Pistons - I'm not very interested in this series as much as the other ones, but here's my take on it. The Pistons obviously have a much more experienced lineup, having gone to the Eastern Conference finals consecutive times. Billups/Hamilton is perhaps the best backcourt combo in the entire NBA although that's debatable, definitely more experienced than Orlando's backcourt. Frontcourt's a bit more even with Wallace and Prince for the Pistons and Lewis, Turk, and Superman for the Magic. Dwight's probably the next Shaq and I won't be surprised if he dominates any big man thrown at him. He'll definitely prevent many points in the paint and Detroit will be forced to shoot most of the time which is of course not a problem for them. I'm interested in seeing Turk and Prince square up against each other. Two talented scorers although I give Prince the edge because he's also an excellent defender and more experienced. Pistons also have a better bench with Jason Maxiell continuing to impress me. So overall, I'd say Pistons in 5. The Magic can luckily steal one, but Pistons have been here and done this.
Jazz vs. Lakers - My favorite series no doubt. I absolutely hate the Jazz for eliminating my favorite team, the Rockets, in the first round for a second time, but I won't underrate them. Utah is definitely full of toughass players and is almost unbeatable when it comes to home court. They have two young All Stars, Williams and Boozer, who are as most people say the next Stockton and Malone respectively. They have excellent role players in AK-47, Okur, Harpring, and Brewer. Bench is pretty solid as well. When it comes to rebounds, Utah is one of the best teams at that, getting every board possible. Now the Lakers. First of all, they have Kobe Bryant who obviously makes the biggest difference. He alone can easily dominate Utah's backcourt as well as any good defender they throw at them. Ak-47, Brewer, and Harpring cannot guard him period nor can any other player on the Jazz roster. Fisher has experience and rings like Kobe not to mention he played with the Jazz last season so he knows their style. So with the backcourt clearly to the advantage of the Lakers, we go to the front court where it's pretty much evened up. Boozer and Okur are better rebounders as well as excellent scorers, but Gasol and Odom are versatile: they can defend, score, rebound, shoot, etc. Gasol as of late is excellent, being the solid back up player for Kobe so even if Kobe has a poor performance, Gasol can still drop 20-30 pts as well as Odom. Both benches are solid, but the Lakers with Farmar, Vujacic (who was on fire in Game 1), and Walton give the Lakers another advantage. Both coaches are also some of the best in the league, but no one can top Kobe's hunger for another ring. Overall, Kobe makes the biggest difference and he'll lead the Lakers to victory. Lakers in 6 or 7.
Spurs vs. Hornets - I'm quite shocked that New Orleans has already beaten the Spurs twice, but then again they're playing at home. However, Spurs need to steal a home game in New Orleans if they want to keep their championship dreams alive. Anyways the backcourt...CP3 dominates Parker (although the latter has much more experience), but Spurs have Ginobli to compensate for that. Even in the front court where there's West and Chandler, Duncan is undoubtedly the best power forward in the NBA so that makes all the difference. After that, Hornets don't really have many other weapons other than Peja's amazing 3 pointers and Wells (the Spurs killer) coming off the bench. Pop is obviously more experienced than Scott and the Spurs' experience makes a huge difference. But since they already lost two, I expect this to be a long series. As much as I love the Hornets more, Spurs in 7.

IMO, if Cavaliers take game two the series will be Cavaliers in 6. It's too bad we missed the opportunity to win last night.

Yeah it's been his breakout season this year, he should have deserved the MVP, but Kobe stole it from him.

Please. Kobe and Paul were equally deserving of the MVP. I would have been happy if either of them won it.

Only difference is Kobe is older than Paul. Heck CP3 can get an MVP next year and the year after if he keeps getting better which I think he will. Kobe needs the MVP so he can add it onto his list of accomplishments.

Really, if any of Garnett, James, Bryant, or Paul took home the MVP, you'd be hard pressed to really find issue with it. All of them fit the criteria of "Most Valuable", all of them lead their teams to the playoffs, and first-round home court, and all of them put up good-to-great stats.
My biased opinion was LeBron, but I have no problem with any of the big four taking it.

I think I would have gone Chris Paul just barely over Kobe, but that may be my own point guard bias . Behind them, I had LeBron ahead of KG just because KG had a lot of help (Pierce, Allen) and LeBron really didn't. Still, they do all have pretty darn good cases

Yeah you can't forget about the rest of Boston's Big Three. As for Lebron, sure he lead the NBA in scoring this season and had a decent record for the Cavs, but CP3 and Kobe had a much better season IMO.

'Twas a great night for my beloved Lakers last night. Kobe was fantastic (received his MVP award, then had a great game: 34 points-11 off of free throws, 8 boards, 6 assists), Fisher with a hell of a performance (22 points- 4 out 5 from 3 point range), Odom's double-double (19 points, 16 boards), Gasol's solid game (20 points, 5 boards, 5 assists), the team shooting well from the field (57.4% for the whole game) and the most important thing off all, taking the 2-0 series lead on the Jazz. The bad things? Shoddy defense (final score was 120-110 Lakers), Radmanovic with an awful game (2 points, 0 boards, 1 assist), and the bench being bad (Vuajacic lead all with 12 points, but combined the bench only scored 23 points). It will not be easy for the purple & gold come Friday & Sunday in Utah, but I believe they can earn a split, as they were one of the few teams to have beaten the Jazz at home during the regular season.

The Lakers are the only undefeated team in the playoffs right now. The optimist in me really thinks that it's at least possible to sweep the Jazz...which would be amazing.
But the realist says they'll win at least one game. I'm confident the Lakers will win the series, though.
