The OKC team will be called the Thunder

Maybe Marshals would have been better.

Oklahoma City Thunder.

It states "A source deemed "close to the NBA ownership group" has told a reporter that the team will be named the Oklahoma City Thunder".

Source tells KOCO OKC NBA Team to be named Thunder.

Either name sounds good. I just wish they could have stayed in Seattle.

So... Thunder. Is this the NBA or WNBA? Because it sounds more like the latter.

Sounds a bit like the NHL, to be honest. That's where the Lightning and the Avalanche play, after all.

True. But I was referring more to the WNBA's penchant for names that don't end in -s, whereas in the NBA, they all do except for the Heat, Jazz, and Magic (well, and now the Thunder).

Bucks picked up Tyrone Lue and some other dude. I would rather not have Lue. Session is playing awesome and is cheaper and has a chance to be something.

I'd have preferred Locomotives, but, as I explained in the ATA thread, I like this name, too.

Josh Childress leaves Hawks, signs with ... Greek Club

Sounds bizarre, at first. And then you realize

a) He's got a lot of guaranteed money
b) He can opt out every year

Kind of sucks for the Hawks, but they retain his rights as an RFA, as long as they give him a qualifying offer every year.

Interesting move, but I suppose it makes sense from his perspective. A lot less pub than the NBA, though.

If this paves the way for more international exporting, I'm glad. When I first read the report in the paper this morning, I had to look at Childress' photo again to make sure he wasn't Greek. tongue

Also interesting has been all this speculation about what would Kobe or LeBron do if a European club offered them $50 million/year.

That said, its exactly that - speculation. They're not free agents yet, and nobody has made such an offer (nor are they likely to).

ESPN people can speculate about Stern being nervous all they want, I think he's laughing at them.

I personally think LeBron is just having fun with the media. They won't pick up on his "I love Cleveland and am not going to leave until they get their parade" press conferences, but they pick up on his wearing a Yankee hat and hinting he'd go to Europe for the right price. I think he's just enjoying them write these stupid speculation articles.
