So, the Lakers played Golden State tonight at The Forum, where SO many wonderful Laker moments/memories happened (6 titles, Elgin/Wilt/Jerry West, Magic Johnson/Pat Riley & "Showtime", Chick Hearn to name a few). They hadn't played at the building since 1999....................................so, what happens? Golden State wins, 110-91. plain tongue

Actually, a local church bought the building in 2000. Other than using it for their Sunday services, they also rent it out for concerts.

Tip off for the NBA season begins tomorrow night, with the Cleveland at Boston, Washington at Dallas, Houston at Portland and..........................................Clippers at Lakers! The 4+ month wait is over, as the latest purple & gold championship banner will be raised in the rafters at Staples Center (of which I'll see for the first time in person on Friday night), whilst Kobe & company will receive their rings. The Lakers are stacked this season with defending that title, the addition of Artest, retaining Odom, a healthy Bynum, and deep Western Conference. I expect nothing less than either a 1 or a 2 seed, with a trip back to The Finals. Go Lakers! Defending champs!! grin dancing

I'm excited for the season to start tonight! The Celtics have their deepest team (maybe) in a couple years. I'm not even upset about Glen Davis being injured and likely suspended, because he's not nearly as good as people think and I'd rather Perk, KG, and Rasheed take the bulk of the front court minutes.

I am dissapointed Griffin is out for a while. I also wish the November 1st Portland/OKC game was being nationally televised. I think that should be a fun game.

If Griffin's not careful, he could follow in Oden's footsteps tongue

I don't think he will, though.

Nice to see the Cavs learned in the offseason that you can't give away double-digit first half leads and still expect to win ... oh, wait. plain

Would have been nice to see Delonte out there to stick to Ray Allen.

Uh, not really. This is a shadow of the Houston team that was in the playoffs.

Celtics had a good start to the season. Turnovers are still a problem, which is annoying. And KG definitely isn't 100% yet but he still played well enough. I like the way the Celtics play with Rasheed on the floor with the starters, but I'm worried how it will affect Perkin's head.

This is how much respect My beloved Milwaukee Bucks get this season. Friday is our first game. Some teams will be playing their 3rd game by then. It is going to be a long, dark, cold season for me.

Oh, I know. And I doubt that Houston will even make the playoffs this year. But revenge is still sweet.

After a glorious ring & banner ceremony, the Lakers got to work, and ended up beating the Clippers 99-92 last night in their season opener. I wasn't surprised with how the game went, as the Clippers (minus Blake Griffin for 6 weeks, and Baron Davis-1-10 from the field-with a horrible shooting night) are still a decent enough team, coming back from a 10 point deficit at the half to get within 1 during the 3rd, before the Lakers pulled away in the 4th. The defending champs big contributors: Kobe (33 points, 8 boards and 3 assists) and Bynum (26 points, 13 boards). Lamar chimed in with a double double (16 points, 13 boards), Artest (10 points, 5 boards, 4 assists) was solid enough in his purple & gold debut. Since it was only the first game of the year, and coming off getting their rings/raising that banner, I can forgive the Lakers for letting things get away in the 3rd (especially with the 2nd unit on the floor). Alas, it was a great night, and I eagerly await my first trip to Staples Center on Friday night, where I'll see the Lakers take on the Mavericks.

Celtics rolled against the Bobcats, as to be expected. Ray's shot still isn't 100%(He was 4-10 from the arc, but he missed some wiiiiiiide open ones). I'd change the channel, but Spurs-Hornets isn't any closer (Parker just went down, that's got to be scary for SA).
