Looks like Ariza's just going to trade places with Artest and go to Houston laugh

Winner of all this? I have to say Houston.

I don't think you can call Houston the winner here. That's a lot of money on a lengthy contract for a guy who basically had one good post season, with nothing else really backing up that production. That's why when Artest was off the market, I was hoping someone else would snatch up Ariza before Cleveland did.

That said, I'm a little bummed about Artest going to LA over Cleveland, but not near as much as I am about CV going to Detroit. Artest would have given the Cavs the toughness they seemed to lack last year to go out and (quite possibly literally) punch an opponent in the face to let them know that Cleveland is a tough place to win. CV would have given them a young big with the ability to stretch the floor, and a perfect compliment to Shaq and LeBron.

Now ... they need to be creative. Shawn Marion could be okay. Josh Childress is the best option available, but I don't know if the MLE is enough to 1) get him out of Europe and 2) stop Atlanta from matching.

The more I think about it, the more I like the Artest signing. He's a great defender, shoots the ball better than Ariza, and brings a bit more swagger to the Lakers. Phil Jackson: I will be back Awesome. grin

QFT.

Though Shaq's attitude alone ought to help in that department. The Big Witness Protection, hahaha.

Though I prefer The Sheriff of Shaqahoga County as his new nickname.

Shaq in Ohio, this is like a dream right now.

Well, as a Pistons fan... I have to say i'm glad to see Joe D injecting some new blood into this thing with Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon signing on long term..

Though it probably suggests that another move is in the works.. Probably to dump Rip Hamilton....?

I love the Celtics signing 'Sheed. We get Leon back and I'd that front court rotation against anyone in the league (Our wings and back court...not as much).

Maybe Sheed will actually feel inclined to do something with the Celts...That Pistons team had just grown stale, and Sheed was infuriating to watch go thru the motions, sometimes...

Looks like the Hornets won't be able to afford Bass, so they are taking the wait and see approach to let the market settle.

That '01-'02 Kings team ought to be #1 on that list. That game 4 of the Conference Finals, where they blew a 25+ point lead before Robert Horry hit his famous buzzer beater is what killed them...............................that, and losing game 7 at home in overtime. No way last season's Cavs team ought to be #1 on the list........................they were outplayed that whole series by Orlando.
