I have this horrible fear that Tim Lincecum is going to be the next Dontrelle Willis.

Edit: I'm in favor of a Sabermetrics/Scouting system. That's done wonders for the Red Sox and Rays. What I can't stand are the Old Boys Clubs front offices like Seattle/New York that refuses to acknowledge the work Bill James has done over the years.

I can't believe Brent Lillibridge is still considered to be a prospect.

Why shouldn't he be considered a prospect? Its been only 3 years since he was drafted, and he's skirting on the border of the majors right now. Granted, he hasn't done much while he's been up with Atlanta yet, but he hasn't had a whole lot of chances yet either. Time will have to tell for him.

Lillibridge hits for mediocre contact, no power, and plays only passable defense. After he got past Low-A ball and started playing with other players that were his own age, he stopped hitting at all. He hasn't posted an .800+ OPS since he was in Single-A Lynchburg.

And in breaking news, CC Sabathia is on his way to the Brewers.

Here's the story

LaPorta and two other prospects ... LaPorta better be damn good, that's all I have to say (and, no, before you ask/offer, I'm not interested in his Sabermetric projections)

LaPorta's a fine haul for Cleveland. I'll have to look into the scouting reports on the other two prospects, but if this is the typical Chris Antonetti move, they'll be good players as well.

I read that on Milwaukeee Journal online. Just didn't want to jinx it. Deal hasn't gone through yet. As a Brewers fan I can't believe that our team actually is pulling this off. Never have we made a move as big as this could be. This could also backfire but I like that we are actually going for it. Ben Sheets won't be around next year and i'm sure CC will be gone. Hopefully we can make the playoffs. I know this isn't big to some fans that expect their team to make moves like this nearly every year but man its about time we are actually trying to make a move.

Go Brewers

At least you didn't give up as much talent as we did for Bedard.

Go Brewers
I love the trade from the Brewers' standpoint.

Mid market teams don't have a large window of opportunity to compete in Major League Baseball. That's simply a fact. So, when you have the chance to have a top-two of Sabathia and Sheets, you do it, even if it makes you not be as competitive for a few years. I wish the Indians would have pulled the trigger on a bigger trade last year or this past off-season to get a big, veteran bat to help carry them through slumps and provide an influence of winning on the team. But, they didn't, and we're rebuilding again. Hopefully, we get another shot as good as last year before Lee an Carmona walk.

I'm seriously thinking about cheering for the Brewers the rest of the year. I haven't had an NL team to cheer for since Bud moved my favorite NL team.

Also, do you suppose that on his days off, CC will compete in the sausage races? Or is it more likely that he gets hungry and tries to chase one of them down?

I love that CC is going to the NL. Hope he stays there. He basicly beat the Twins everytime he pitched against them.

Oh yeah, Twins swept the Indians grin , but the Whitesox just keep on winning as well.

So what happens when you run out a lineup featuring Richie Sexson, Miguel Cairo, Jamie Burke, Yuniesky Betancourt, and Kenji Johjima?

A 15 inning game that features catcher Jamie Burke on the mound because you're out of bullpen arms. Needless to say, the Seattle Mariners lost 2-1 to the Detroit Tigers.

Braves win a 17-inning affair with the Astros, featuring a nice showing out of Atlanta's bullpen: 11 IP, 7 H, 0 R. I'll take that kind of relief pitching.

And as for LaPorta, I don't like him... but that has more to do with him being a UF product than anything else tongue So 99.99% (or more) of people aren't going to care about that at all.

Lots of high scoring long inning games this weekend. Seattle's catcher had to pitch last night. LaPorta's agent is Scott Boras the biggest ******* in baseball. We already have to deal with his crap with Prince Fielder. Also if CC and Sheets leave after season, we will get picks for them. Brewers also had 6 picks in the top 65 picks in this last draft so hopefully the the tallent keeps rolling in.
