Strilo edit: You've been told not to do that. Please take it to the MLB discussion thread, not the fan club threads.

Little Trivia that a Cubs fan who is a friend of mine sent me. Hope it doesn't upset anyone.
At the start of the Cubs' 2008 baseball season, DePorter revived the Cubs first noted fan club called the West Side Rooters Social Club which was founded in 1908 by Cubs shortstop Joe Tinker. The fan club's official war cry is "Oof Wah!". The fan club was dismantled by unpopular Cubs' owner Charles Murphy after the Cubs had won the World Series in 1908 and the Cubs have not won the World Series since. Cub fans hope that by bringing back the West Side Rooters Social Club, the Chicago Cubs will finally win the World Series.

I am not freaking out but I think it's a horribly stupid idea by SI.
EDIT: Also let me just say.... 19-5!!!!!!!! Feels nice to see them spank the **** out of the Brewers.

There is no curse.
Also, yesterday's outing is an example of why I hate Kerry Wood. He hits the first batter with the first pitch, gets rattled and hands them 3 runs and the game. He gets rattled too easily and folds under pressure. The Cubs should have won yesterday and would have if Wood had not been brought in to close.

It's so irritating!
You CANNOT give games away like that in the 9th, esp with divisional games and it wasted a great outing by Z.

I agree completely. I continue to be entirely unimpressed by Kerry Wood.

I was willing to give him a shot, but 3 blown saves in 30 games equals heartbreak in Aug-Sept. And how many appearences does he have? 10-15? That is like a 20-30% fail rate which is unacceptable in a closer.

See that was my concern as well. I don't think he has what it takes to work under the pressure of the post season.

why did sweet Lou take out Marmol? None of the brewers could even touch anything he threw yesterday. His movement and location was perfect. Now I understand that he's only the set-up guy but when they pitch like that you have to leave them in the game. Especially when Wood has been iffy in most of his innings this year. Cubs never should have lost that game. There were a couple of bad choices to send runners home on both teams. Fukudome should have stayed he was out by three feet, and theres absolutely no reason to send Fielder cuz his fat #&% is way too slow. It's thing like that that end up keeping teams out of the playoffs when #1 and 2 in the div. are separated by 1 or 2 games.

I agree that Marmol should have just stayed in the game. It was one more inning and he was doing very well.

Wait... this year? How about most years...
