Very exciting to see them clinch and jus the fact that they have been such a strong team makes this even better. I admire Lou's attitude saying don't start planning the World Series celebration route yet. RIght now though you can't help but feel good about our chances.

I wonder who's gonna be left off the playoff roster. could be a few tuff choices. I like Lou's 'tude about the series, too. Hopefully the players are buying into the one-game-at-a-time mentality. I have a good feeling about this years' team. a lot better than the '03 team.

Hi guys! I'm not a fan of the Cubs, nor am I fan of baseball for that matter. But I discovered that my favorite musician, Eddie Vedder (lead singer of Pearl Jam, for those who don't know), has just composed a song in tribute of your team. Check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqHTScDBsDU

Amen to that. Never say its over till you actually get there, unless you want to end up like the Rockies last year...

What? You have to be kidding me. I only agree with Homerun Howry. Marquis will definitely have a spot after tonights performance (He drove in 5 of our 9 runs!). Marshall is good for middle relief and spot starts (in case somebody is injured or if Harden is his usual self with only 5 innings). Gaudin is good for an inning, can throw some pretty nasty stuff.

Well you must remember Marquis is very inconsistent. Marhsall is largely untested and Gaudin is another rightie when we need a leftie. I'd take Cotts

Remember you only get a 3 man rotation in the postseason, which as of right now proposes a dilema.

Dempster
Zambrano
Harden

and we cheat and bring Lilly in as a relief pitcher.

Theres no rule that says you can't have a 4-man rotation in the playoffs; its more than you can get by with 3 and since a lot of teams have a significant drop between 3 and 4, 3-man postseason rotations are not uncommon.

Lou made a comment the other day that said he was going to go with a 4 man rotation, and he started to set up for it, ie having Marshall pitch last night and moving Harden to Thurs. He said he'll announce the rotation this weekend, but it looks like:
Zambrano
Harden
Dempster
Lilly

Although, depending on Z and Harden games tonight and tomorrow (read how do their arms look), I could see either one going in the #1 spot if the other guy needs an extra day. I do think neither one will pitch much more than 5 innings regardless of score just to make sure they are ready.

Bob Freakin' Howry needs to be left off the playoff roster, his performance was crap tonight.

Overall though, I really enjoyed this game, not just because I was there! This was a really good playoff preview. I think that the Cubs showed some good character, they never backed down even though the Mets offense was clubbing the ball. I really like that this team doesn't just rollover and take it, I think that's part of what a team needs to succeed in the playoffs/WS.
