New motto for OSU: "Closer than last year"?
Good game, glad to see LSU come out on top. What a turnaround after those first few minutes... which rather describes last years championship game as well. Advice for OSU, if they make the championship game next year, especially if they're playing the SEC again: don't put it all into the first few minutes, save some for the rest of the game too

Well done, LSU. They smoked 'em.
And OSU has nothing to be ashamed of. They're a strong, young team and will be back year.
However, I get the feeling that we still have no idea who the best team in the country is. LSU made a good case tonight, but so did UGA and USC. We need a playoff.

QFT. (with a part removed for my own sanity
I'd make as much of a case for West Virginia as I'd make for Georgia or USC. They shouldn't be punished that harshly for having their horrible game so late in the year. I still want to see a ten-team playoff.

No problem at all.
You're certainly right about it being entertaining. It seemed like it could have broken either way for most of the game... and I was on the edge of my chair at home, if not out of it, the whole game!
I had a bunch of friends from work go to the game. If I was that nervous and entertained at home, I can't imagine actually being there in the midst of the excitement of that big crowd.
I did go to a BCS championship game before, here in the Superdome when it was Virginia Tech (with Michael Vick as their QB) vs Florida State in 2000. I was given the tickets, and sat in the middle level at almost the 50 yard line in the Florida State section. I wasn't rooting for either team, but it was very exciting and a lot of fun...

Very true. 14 points off of drives that were advanced significantly by two personal fouls each. That's the difference on the scoreboard right there.
Hats off to LSU. They executed better, got called for fewer penalties, and had better poise under pressure.
Yep, QFT.
Oh, and congrats to LSU! You're an awesome team.

Yeah...two different SEC styles and Ohio State had some trouble with both...at least they came a lot closer than last year. I wonder if the new security code at OSU will be this year's score now.
Ohio State did play a good game though. While it wasn't as fun as last year's(yep I'm biased), it was still enjoyable.
Rather impressive, too, that the SEC now has the most BCS championships so far:
1999:Tennessee, 2004: LSU, 2007: Florida, 2008: LSU
BTW, if anyone watched the post-game coverage, what'd you think of the LSU players noogi-ing(sp?) Urban? I thought it was hilarious.

I think the ESPN bias can be put to rest.
Those guys were gushing over the SEC, like I have seen them do a lot.
I think a USC, Georgia, or LSU combination would have made for a better title game.

So in the last 10 years the SEC has as many championships as any two other conferences, and as many BCS championships as any three other conferences (since that would put the SEC at 4 and the Pac-10 at 1). Not bad.

You mean 3-2.
USC should have been the winner outright. That is why the voters voted for USC causing a split title. USC was better than LSU, and everyone knew it.
There should be one this year also. USC, and Georgia are without a doubt playing the best football, and were the two best teams over the last 4-5 games of the season.

Note that I said BCS championships, and while you can argue that SoCal perhaps should have won the championship that season (though I would disagree), LSU winning the 2004 BCS championship is indisputable fact.
And the championship isn't for who is playing the best for the last 4-5 games of the season, its for who played the best the whole season. Neither of LSU's losses were as bad as Stanford or (though it hurts to admit it) South Carolina, though at least Carolina was playing well back then.
