And the championship isn't for who is playing the best for the last 4-5 games of the season, its for who played the best the whole season. Neither of LSU's losses were as bad as Stanford or (though it hurts to admit it) South Carolina, though at least Carolina was playing well back then.

However, it really doesn't matter in the end who you lost to. If you can't beat a team, you're not as good as if you do. Simple as that.

...and that is my point, LSU did not play good the whole season. At times they were average. Arkansas was 6-6 weren't they?

Also, my fault, I did not read correctly that you said BCS titles. I still say USC was the best that year though tongue

Stanford was a bad loss, no doubt, but looking at the circumstances I would still give USC and Georgia the nod.

That is why, even way back in the thread, I said I supported a playoff. Then we would not have the joke that was the BCS.

Georgia could have faced USC, and LSU could have faced either WV or MIZZ. Then the winners play. Ohio St. was simply not good enough.

Arkansas was 8-4 going into their bowl, making them 8-5 now. Kentucky was also 8-5, both playing in the SEC that went 7-2 in bowl games. And speaking of playing well at the end, Arkansas had won 5 of 6 (and 7 of 9) going into their bowl game.

Interestingly, the combined records of the teams LSU lost to (16-10) is the same as the combined record of the teams Georgia lost to (UT 10-4; South Carolina 6-6; 16-10 combined). SoCal's two losses were to 9-4 Oregon and 4-8 Stanford, 13-12 combined. Though I will admit that the Pac-10 only lost two bowl games as well, going 4-2 (by my count, might have missed somebody but don't think so). Still, 7-2 is noticeably better than 4-2.

And I agree that a playoff would be good (though you would have to include OSU this year). But take that case up with the Pac-10 and Big 10, the two conferences that have historically opposed a playoff the most.

That's laughable. Honestly.

You don't have a four-team playoff this year without Ohio State. Period.

And you don't even think about including Mizzou before Oklahoma.

I agree with Inty.

Note that if we had had a 4-team playoff (aka plus-1) this year, neither Georgia nor SoCal would have been involved. It would have been OSU, LSU, VT, and Oklahoma.

And, honestly, if you do that seeded, you probably get Ohio State vs. Oklahoma and LSU vs. Virginia Tech. Which probably results in Ohio State vs. LSU.

I can't imagine me ever supporting a "+1 system"

Not really, considering the weak conference and non-conference schedule Ohio St. played.

USC, Oregon (with Dixon), Arizona St., LSU, Georgia, Auburn, WV, or Oklahoma would have won the Big 10 title. Washington played them tough, and Washington was not very good this year.

Ohio St. has proven they are not up to par. They got whooped twice in the title game. The game against LSU was not as close as the score indicated.

Illinois beat them, look at what USC did to I. Williams and Illinois. (I agree with S. Ellis on USC who said "I refuse to call him "Juice", since that would put him on a level he is not at." USC or Georgia would have beaten them just as bad, if not worse.

Don't think Auburn would have.

USC / Reggie Bush Book Details

I must say I'm intrigued. The timing with Pete Carroll talking to Atlanta is interesting too.

Nothing will happen, It isn't Alabama or SMU. IF the NCAA decides to do anything, they'll get a slap on the wrist like Oklahoma did. Most likely they will continue to look the other way like they normally do with Tennessee or FSU.

Speaking of SMU, how do you think June Jones will do there?

Also Rohniss, Tennessee got banned from bowls and champioships for 2 years...on NCAA Football 2008.

Well, look at what he did for Hawaii!!! I'm absolutely turn around that Mustangs (they are the Mustangs, right?) team. He really knows how to make winning decisions, and with tons of more booster support and overall athletic focus there, it'll be easy. They haven't had a winning season for a decade now, right?

and lol @ Tenn in Rech's game. I know it's off topic, but have you ever played a 15-minute quarter game? It's ridiculous.

His recruiting budget alone will help him make a winner. Hawaii had little to no recruiting money for him to recruit out of state.

You mean 3-2.

USC should have been the winner outright. That is why the voters voted for USC causing a split title. USC was better than LSU, and everyone knew it.

There should be one this year also. USC, and Georgia are without a doubt playing the best football, and were the two best teams over the last 4-5 games of the season.

What? LSU won the 2003 National Championship. No ifs, ands or buts. There was a system in place for the BCS, everyone signed off on it and LSU won it. End of discussion.

As for this year, LSU played the best for the entire season. Sure Georgia and USC were hot at the end, but being hot at the end does not make you a national champion under this system.

For the season, LSU beat the following teams (final USA Today rankings): #4, #9, #12, #14, & #16.

USC beat #13, #18, & #24.

Georgia beat #14, #16, & #17.

It doesn't even need mentioning, but USC lost to Stanford and UGA didn't even win its division or play for the conference title. That's just the facts.
