That's what really irked me back in 2003, when Oklahoma played LSU. Oklahoma couldn't even win their conference's title, so why should they have been there? I think it is absolutely necessary, that if you're gonna contend for the national championship you at least ought to win your conference's title. It just makes sense that way.

EBSaints posted: What? LSU won the 2003 National Championship. No ifs, ands or buts. There was a system in place for the BCS, everyone signed off on it and LSU won it. End of discussion.
LSU was a paper Champion that year. The voters knew the system was flawed and voted for USC, and rightly so. You know it, I know it, and the voters knew it...end of discussion.

For the season, LSU beat the following teams (final USA Today rankings): #4, #9, #12, #14, & #16.
USC beat #13, #18, & #24.
Georgia beat #14, #16, & #17.
And what have we learned today about rankings this year, class? [/1st grade teacher].
You said the national champion should be a team that played the best for the entire season. Well, that certainly wasn't LSU. In fact, as shown by ESPN every day before the title game, their defense sagged tremendously in the second half of the year. They're were damned lucky that their opponents were worse, or else they'd have even more losses. Not to say they didn't deserve to be in the championship game (nobody should have been this year), but I think it would be best if for this year there was no true champion, title or not. I say this for one simple reason: the upset.

Anybody watch the Hula Bowl earlier today? All I have to say is that TC Ostrander (Stanfurd QB) is there for a reason. And it's not a good one.

I don't like to watch these games. The "Top Notch" players don't play, and it is boring to me.
The only game I liked watching was the Shriners game, but it had nothing to do with the game. I like to see the pre and post game interaction with the kids and players. It was good to see these poor kids get something to take their minds off of their illness, at least for a little while.

I only think of watching if a Cal player is guaranteed to start/see significant playing time. Robert Jordan scored the West's only TD, and had 84 yards of receiving, so it wasn't all that boring for me. But besides that? Garbage.

The games themselves are a good chance for secon tier players to make an impression on scouts, I just can't watch those games.

That makes things interesting down in Morgantown, with the new coach and all. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out over until next fall.

Devine had a heck of a game against Oklahoma. I know that he's a good player. White is good too. I guess we'll see how Bill Stewart does. I guess that was my main curiosity, but Slaton leaving adds a little more. I'm not convinced that Stewart is the right man for the job, too much of an emotional reaction. If he really was their man, they still should have waited a few days after the Fiesta Bowl to announce it/come up with the offer.

Darren McFadden makes it official
and...
So does Mario Manningham
Well, that wasn't surprising.
This is more.
But really, who cares about Florida State?
So yeah, since DeSean Jackson still hasn't declared yet, that's good news for Cal fans.
