Xavier Lee... what a monumental waste of talent. Not just the coaches' faults, but his too. Poor work ethic and cheating in school are not the kinds of things that will help you at the Combine.

I think he just wants out of Florida St, but no other school would want him. He's not what I consider pro material.

Darth McClain posted: Devine had a heck of a game against Oklahoma. I know that he's a good player. White is good too. I guess we'll see how Bill Stewart does. I guess that was my main curiosity, but Slaton leaving adds a little more. I'm not convinced that Stewart is the right man for the job, too much of an emotional reaction. If he really was their man, they still should have waited a few days after the Fiesta Bowl to announce it/come up with the offer.
I disagree. Stewart has been around the program for a while and is familiar with the team's culture. He also kept that team together after Rodriguez bailed and had his team ready to play that bowl game, even though they easily could have mailed it in. Look at the other teams that had their coaches bail before the Bowl games, very few of those teams won, let alone blowout what was a consensus 3-4 best team in the country going into the bowl games. Stewart definitely deserved a shot as the coach for a full season.

But my heart will go on. And so must the Bears, without all three of their primary receivers of 2007.
Who's next in line? LaRayelle Cunningham (Senior in 08) leads the lame WR core, with 08 sophomore Michael Calvin and redshirt sophomore Jeremy Ross behind him.
What does that mean in terms of gameplay in 08? You can bet everything you own that Jahvid Best will see a LOT of carries next fall. Although, knowing that Tedford is a passing maniac (not to mention he is before anything else a quarterbacks coach), Kevin Riley will have to find Cameron Morrah (TE) through much of the season.

He has been around West Virgina for a number of years and knows the players. They trust and respect him. Stewart did a heck of a job in the Fiesta Bowl and keeping his players focused after Rodriguez departed for Michigan. Next year, I think that WVU will have a good year. The following year probably too. But is he going to be able to get fresh recruits that want to play at WVU? I'm from the Pittsburgh area. There are recruits from this football rich area that were considering WVU until Rodriguez went to Michigan. As soon as that happened, WVU dropped off of their list and Michigan came on. Will Stewart be able to recruit kids the way that the younger Rodriguez did? That's what will play out in three or four years.

Oh, and also look for redshirt freshman RBs Shane Vereen and Tracy Slocum to see time (probably as return specialists) in 08.
The recruiting class this year, though not great, collected a pair of exciting WRs in Marvin Jones and Jarrett Sparks. Look for them to possibly make an impact next year.

James Davis elects to come back to Clemson after originally declaring pro. This is a good thing for the team next year.

Thats where Coach Stew's coaching staff will be helpful. He's assembled a very nice selection of assistant coaches. We hired Stewart cheap and were able to add some really good assistants. One such example is Doc Holliday, a really good recruiter from the Florida area. Here is the current roster of coaches, but this pictures shows it better.

South Carolina loses the newly hired D-Coordinator VanGorder... but hires Ellis Johnson to fill that post the same day. I actually saw the news about the hiring before I saw that VanGorder was leaving. Rather crazy.

Thanks for the info. I wish WVU the best (well, as much as a PSU fan can ), and like I said, we'll see how it plays out. There seem to be some younger coaches to which players can relate, and Doc Holliday is known and respected in college circles. I don't think that they'll get the talent that they would if Rodriguez were still around, though.

Darn the NFL network!! I don't receive that channel, so my Senior Bowl experience is limited to CBS Sportsline Gamecenter (ok, but lame at times). Lavelle Hawkins scored early on a 36 yard pass from Chad Henne, and Justin Forsett so far (1st quarter) has 2 carries for 9 yards. It's pretty cool to have two Cal starters on offense.

Clemson is #4 on some sites. Dwayne Allen pulled a switcharoo and followed his heart and went to Clemson instead of Georgia. We also got the #1 player in Dwayne Bowers
Alabama # 9
