I was trying to vote for Traveller, but there was no option for USC.

Voted Big Al, even though that rendering is horrific, the actual larger picture looks better. Disappointed Colonel Reb isn't an option for Ole Miss.

Oh yeah finishing the recruiting season for this year (finally), drama queen highly touted recruit Pryror decides to go where he was expected too all along and chooses Ohio State. Why? not why Ohio St. (since thats where he was always leaning) But why all the delay? Not enough camera coverage on signing day? bad hair day? Bah.

Actually, it's probably because he was also playing state-championship level basketball, and wanted to be able to finish that out and give good time to his last thoughts.

Of course, had he chosen a different school, I'd be hypothesizing that it was because he's a primadonna looking for extra media attention. tongue

Heh, we'll I guess I could be considered objective since I didn't have a horse in that particular race. I will say that I man glad that the Rod didn't get him (not that I thought he had most of a chance) or Oregon with their "crimes against humanity" uniforms, of the "finalists" I was hoping it would be Penn St.

So Inty, what SEC school are yall planning on losing against this year in the BCS Title Game? Or are you hoping for ole' Miami since it would be back to the Orange Bowl? :P

For me personally I'm predicting a strong 2nd place SEC finish and good bowl game (Cotton?). A lot of whats gonna happen with us this season is gonna hinge on the Clemson game (seeing how good we are out of the gate) and the Georgia game (see if we can kill that dream), win those two, or split them with a close score in the loss and a SECCG appearance won't be out of the question.

Well I have recently returned from our A-day game (aka Spring Game, w/e) and while attendance was down from last years record setting 92,000 (where the Fire Marshall shut us down)... Attendance this year was ~75,000-80,000... with the lower deck completely packed and the upper decks at 5/8 capacity. Though a lot of people outside did not enter the stadium due to the perceived lack of seats (from last year) and elected to listen to the game on the radio (it was broadcast) whilst tail gating. Dad and I sat near some people from Texas who came up to get their daughter in the Education School and watch the spring practice (A&M alumni for Horsey's info).

Ahem, background info finished, as far as how it went well it was a mixed back as all spring practices go. The Defense still looks better than the Offense (which is normal during the Spring)... the Playcalling was pretty vanilla (also normal for spring games)... I *liked* the plays that were called though, a good mix of pass and run. I saw a shovel pass (I really liked), lots of play action, checking down to the TE or releasing the HB as a receiver... As far as running went, I saw toss sweeps, and counters, with mostly power running... the QB seems to have more freedom in the new offense, with lots more of tucking the ball and taking off for the sideline if the situation is deteriorating.

I still don't think JP Wilson is a SEC caliber QB though he did do "better" today with less forcing of the ball and more throwaways and taking off and running for it. He only threw one pick and one really bad other pass into double coverage... G McElroy is still the most popular man on campus as B/O QB, he looked good for a while but not spectacular. I was particularly impressed with T Darrah, a walk-on, who I think could become the backup eventually... Fanuzzi didn't do much for all the hype surrounding him coming out of Florida...

I think that there is definite room in this lineup for the incoming freshmen to play as true froshes, at least in the lean spots (the defense (pretty thin all the way around) and OL).

TL;DR:

Hard to tell, the teams were "drafted" by Captains (rather than 1 O and 2 D vs 2 O and 1 D), so the talent was spread around roughly equally... though there wasn't much "unit meshing", I dunno. I am more excited about the playbook/calling, less than enthused about the QB situation.

Well I'm rambling, though I do see improvement from last year in terms of talent and expect it to translate into improvement in the W/L column and not result in another trash bowl game in nowhere as I said before going to the game.
