Stoops needs to stick around so we can get an OSU-OU National Title game. Somehow, both teams would choke and lose the game.

And, I still think 'Bama should be #1. Win over Georgia is just as impressive as a win over Oklahoma. Then Texas, Penn State, Texas Tech, and BYU in the top five.

Tech? Didn't they just go into overtime against Nebraska?

Impressive victory for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. They could push the Top Ten this season.

Oklahoma State might sneak in at #10 if the pollsters really penalize Mizzou.

Here's the AP Top 10:

1. Texas (39)
2. Alabama (26)
3. Penn State
4. Oklahoma
5. Florida
6. USC
7. Texas Tech
8. Oklahoma State
9. Brigham Young
10. Georgia

I think the top three are solid choices. I still don't really believe in Penn St at this point, but they should probably be where they are. I'm fired up about the Gators jumping 6 spots to get back into the top 5... what a game last night!

This year's Bedlam game could have major national title implications. That'd be wild. grin

Especially since every sports show/program I heard/saw had said LSU would stomp Florida into the ground. That made it all the sweeter. tongue

Okie State at #8. Good job Cowboys!

I cannot decide whether Stoops should be fired or not. The defense sucks, the team's heart sucks, and the team's brain sucks. Grr.

Ah, I wouldn't feel too bad. Losing a close one in one of the biggest rivalry games in the sport against the #5 team is nothing too feel to down about. Except that it was to Texas and they'll be holding that over the Sooner nation for a year now.

Onoto posted:
Huh. I hadn't noticed that.

All I can say is that I have faith in OU's ability to win out and in Texas' ability to lose twice. It was happened before, and it'll happen again.

That I can believe. They showed Texas' upcoming schedule and it is not pretty. Mizzou, OSU, @Tech, and @Kansas. And they could overlook Baylor if Kansas is still doing well at that point in the season.

Then again, those teams have looked mortal lately. Mizzou falling to OSU, Tech nearly dropping one at home to Nebraska, and Kansas having two slow first halves against ISU and Colorado two weeks in a row now. Either way, rough schedule coming up.

It wouldn't surprise me if two or three of those teams beat 'em. That Longhorns defense is vulnerable.

Tommy Bowden fired at Clemson

Took them long enough.

According to report, the starting quarterbacks reaction was "he got what he deserved". Ouch.

I'm a little surprised they did it midseason, but ultimately this had to be done. It's hard to think of a better example of doing so little with so much as he has this year. CJ, you should have come to FL!

RIP, Bowden Bowl.

I'm also surprised it happened now, in midseason, but he's been on the hot seat for years now, and they've consistently underperformed in a poor conference. They thought a 10-2 regular season this year would have been a disappointment, and now they're 3-3, with remaining games at Boston College, at FSU and against South Carolina.

I'm now wondering how soon the QB change comes there. The much-talked about and way overrated Cullen Harper has 4 TDs and 6 picks in 6 games, and it definitely sounds like the fans are ready to see Willy Korn.

I'm guessing they did it mid-season because Bowden is a coach that performs well when pressure is off. If he wins five of six to end the year and looks hot, it might be difficult to fire him in the off-season.

To appearances, maybe, but a goodly portion of the fan base was calling for his firing after each of the last few seasons, despite mostly strong finishes. They wouldn't have gotten much complaint from them, whenever they did it.
