Actually< i have to disagree with that. Tony or Denny *because I believe Denny was running first before the re-start* could have won, if not for the contact with Harvick, and the fuel pickup problem. It seems that the JGR cars lead the most laps, and are very strong, yet something ALWAYS happens to ruin a win for them.

yeah, so, even if I wasn't a JGR fan, I'd disagree with your post because they could have won.

On Tony Stewart's Talk show on Monday, Tony said that he had the same pick up problem that Hamlin had, and that is why he could not get up to speed, and slowed up Harvick. If Harvick would have gotten by him, he still would have had 4 laps to run down Hamlin. There is no way Hamlin would have been able to hold off Harvick, especialy since he was having fuel pump problems. Harvick would have won that race if he had not bumped Tony, but you are right about the fact that Burton and Bowyer would have probably not finished second and third.

Come next year nobody will remember that JGR lead the most laps, and most people will forget that it was a 1-2-3 RCR finish by the time the night race roles around. The only thing that truly matters, to most people, is who won the race, and even that will be forgotten by most fans.

I have no problem with JGR. I will have a problem with Toyota practically buying out the cup series in a few years like they did with the trucks. I don't even watch that series anymore.

My issue with Tony has always been his constant criticism of his fellow drivers, especially rookies. Like last year, he talked crap about Paul Menard, saying he wouldn't even have a ride without his dad, and maybe that's true, but did Tony have the guts to tell him that man to man? No, he used his precious little radio show to say that. Stewart absolutely hates the media, but he's the guy who says the wrong things. He can only blame himself.

I used to hate him because he would get so angry that he wouldn't even do a post-race interview if he only finished in the top 5. Blah, blah, blah, fierce competitor, but there are guys out there that dream of getting top 5s. I don't know if any of you remember this, but Rich Bickle got a top 5 at Martinsville about 10 years ago and he was in tears. That's what I like to see.

He did win a race after he crapped his pants at Watkins Glen a few years back though. So I'll give him that.

I guess it is no surprize that I am a fan of RCR, but my next favourite driver behind Harvick, Bowyer and Burton, is Tony Stewart. When Dale Sr. was still alive, my second favourite driver was Bobby Labonte, who raced for JGR. The only reason why Bobby did not become my favourite after Dale's death was because Harvick beat Jeff Gordon at Atlanta. The main reason why I do not root for JGR is because I hate Kyle Busch, and I think Denny Hamlin is overrated, not because they are now Toyota's.

The race today was better than last years Martinsville snooze fests. I guess the racing with the new car is starting to improve.

Well it wasn't a bad race for running in the Rain. tongue

What do you think of Roush claiming Toyota stole "intellectual rights" by taking a sway bar. Poor DW, always having to discuss his brother. wink

I was quite suprised by Jeff Burton's criticism of McDowell. Does he ever say anything bad about other drivers? Give him a break, it's his first start. Then again, I don't think Martinsville is the best place to make your first cup start.

Keep in mind too, that if there were 43 Jeff Burtons out there every week we would all catch up on our sleep on Sundays.

Hamlin had a good car, but I think Burton would have easily have got by him. I have a friend who owns the incar package, and we were watching Burton's Channel and Burton's team asked the rookie to move out of the way many times, and the rookie refused. By not getting out of the way it cost Burton not just the win, but second place as well. Even Mark Martin would have been upset if it had happened to him. Did you guys realize that when Gordon and Burton went by the 00, Carl Edwards punted McDowell out of the way. They showed at one point the 00 dropping through the field after the contact with the 99, and the 00 almost wrecked Harvick and Vickers. frustrated

I still do not like Michael McDowell, but he did a few things that makes me no longer make me hate him

1) he respectfully talked to Jeff Burton
2) He walked away after that crash yesterday. If you have not seen his crash yesterday in qualifying, search "Michael McDowell Texas" on Youtube and check it out.

That was a vicious wreck. If that happened 10 years ago he probably wouldn't have made it. Great job by nascar with all the safety enhancements since the Earnhardt tragedy.

I think it's safe to say that the annual cookie cutter dominator this year is Carl Edwards.

I haven't been able to find any info on Sterling Marlin. Has he officially retired, gone part-time, or just not found a sponser this year? Sterling has been my favorite driver for over a decade but Jimmy Johnson is my new favorite. Still, I'd like to know what's going on w/Sterling.

Last I heard Sterling is going to drive the 09 part time sharing with Max Papis who will drive the road course races.

I don't pay as much attention to qualifying as I used to so I don't know if they've even attempted a race yet.
