Sorry to see Strahan go. He will go down as one of the best ever pass rushers.

I think he definitely could have played another season. He played an unbelievable Super Bowl. If you ever get a chance to re-watch Super Bowl 42, you will see that Strahan was consistently the first guy out of his stance on either side of the ball and was involved in most of the pressures on Brady throughout the game. Anyone who is on top of their game that late in the season still has what it takes to keep playing.

Edit: speaking of the Super Bowl, my Tecmo-style game recap video should be done in a couple days and I will post it here. I just have to add the player 1 & 2 numbers. tongue

I don't think that anyone mentioned it already, but Dwight White, part of the original Steel Curtain passed away two or three days ago in Pittsburgh. He was a two time Pro Bowler, I think, and had a very successful career after football. Mr. White was a pretty good stock broker and did some other financial stuff, as well. Suspected cause of death is a blood clot in the lungs. He had just had back surgery, so it's probably all tied together. Dwight White was 58 years old. That makes two of the Steel Curtain to pass away this year; Ernie Holmes died in a car accident in January.

Strahan calling it quits
I can only hope this means he and Favre enter the HoF together, allowing for countless more replays of the farce of a "sack" that set the single season record.

Maybe. There are circumstances where guys simply don't have anything left in the tank after a good season and a big game. Sandy Koufax, for example, quit after arguably his best season because his arm was ready to fall off. But I agree with you that it's probably a lack of mental drive to continue that prompted Strahan's retirement.

Javon Walker found unconscious, taken to hospital

foxsports.com posted:
Wide receiver Javon Walker, an offseason addition of the Oakland Raiders, was hospitalized after an apparent attempted robbery in Las Vegas.

Police spokesman Bill Cassell says in a statement that Walker was taken to a hospital with "significant injuries" after being found early Monday on a street off the Las Vegas Strip.

Cassell says Walker remains in fair condition at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

A Raiders spokesman said the team was "in the process of gathering information" and had no further comment.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reported that he was seen Saturday night partying at the Wynn casino, spraying the crowd with bottles of Dom Perignon.

Walker signed a six-year, $55 million deal with the Raiders after a down year last year with Denver, where he had 26 receptions for 287 yards.

What the hell?

Fantastic work, Grimby! applause My only complaint is that it didn't have any of the old school major cheesy Tecmo Bowl halftime stuff!
