EBSaints posted: Check out these seats in the Colts new stadium. Why even put seats there?
Those seats are just there for looks. They aren't for sale and that area will be made into suites when Super Bowl time comes around.

So, what does everyone think of Favre asking to be released from the packers?

He can ask all he wants. If I were the Pack, I wouldn't give it to him.
In other news, Saints trade for Shockey. Good move, I'm still wondering why it didn't happen sooner, like on draft day.

Yeah, Shockey should be a boost to our offense. If Brees plays well this season, and Sean Payton keeps the good play-calling going, we should do pretty well. I'm really excited about Marques Colston, since I've heard they say receivers typically don't turn the corner until their third season.

Rod Smith officially retired yesterday.
Not a bad career for an undrafted free agent. The guy holds every major Broncos receiving record, and his career stats are hall of fame worthy. But the thing I'll remember most about Rod was the character guy he was. The guy never complained and was always there for his teammates. This was also a guy who was more proud of running 100 yards to strip the ball from an intercepting defender than catching a pair of TDs. He always joked that the best game he ever played was in Super Bowl XXXII against the Packers. Rod didn't catch a single pass, but his downfield blocking was crucial in Denver's running game, and helped Terrell Davis earn the MVP award.
It's a shame we don't have more receivers in the NFL like Rod Smith.

John Lynch No Longer With Broncos
After Mike Shanahan told Lynch that he may not be a starting safety this year, Lynch decided to leave the Broncos. Lynch is used to being an every-down starting safety, and he will probably retire unless he can find a team with which he can play in that capacity.

Maybe the Colts? I know he loved playing for Dungy at Tampa, but I don't see Lynch being an every-down safety there either.

Manning, Harrison, Sanders, and Freeney are all not playing tonight in the HOF game. But really, I consider that a good thing. I hate preseason games.

I'm ok with this. I'd much rather they saved themselves and healed up for the regular season.

This is an extra preseason game anyway. Let the 2nd and 3rd team guys fight it out all night.
