Interesting...
I thought Joe deserved to win, but I would not have been shocked to see Hopkins win.
Both did enough to justify a win. But Joe C. was busier.
Just like I said, before the fight Joe made a fan of me with his humble behavior. The fight did not change that, I just wanted to see both at their absolute best!! I know you did too. Interesting fight anyway.

Overall I have to say Joe's best ever performances were the Lacy and Kessler fights. I knew Hopkins was hard to break down, much like Sakio Bika was. Joe pulled through both times, but it was touch-and-go for a while.
As for his next (and from what I hear, final) fight, three possibilities are being mooted:
Roy Jones Jr
Kelly Pavlik
Antonio Tarver
I think the Jones fight is the most likely, though the one I'd most like to see would be against Pavlik. I believe Calzaghe favours a Jones fight too, given his remarks about legend killing. Tarver wouldn't be appealing given the dreary fight against Woods, and Pavlik is busy with Lockett, and then possibly Abraham and Miranda after.

I would like to see him fight Pavlik as well...
But at this stage of his career, I don't blame him or other fighters, for chasing the money. He has earned it. A jones fight would be fun to watch at least.

Oscar De La Hoya (38-5, 30 KOs) vs Steve Forbes (33-5, 9 KOs)
Your predictions?
Here's mine.
I expect my man, De La Hoya, to take Forbes in a unanimous decision. Now I'm going beyond. De La hoya-Mayweather II. De La hoya beats him as well. He's just has to use his friggin JAB more often.

I think he will beat forbes as well....
I would like to see him beat Mayweather as well, and you are right, if he jabbed more he would have gotten the decision.

Ricky Hatton will most likely fight the winner of De La Hoya-Mayweather II.

What's the point in that? I'm a Ricky fan but Mayweather outclassed him completely.
And, assuming Oscar wins this time, Ricky will have to add extra weight and everyone and their grandma's know that Ricky can't handle the extra pounds, and there's no way ODLH will boil down all the way to 140.

The trainers are almost more dynamic than the fight. Jeff Mayweather who got KO'd by De La Hoya vs. Floyd Sr.
Forbes should not beat Oscar. If he does, it is more of a sign of De La Hoya's being past his prime, than Forbes being better.
I can't wait to see if Oscar can beat Floyd with Floyd Sr. training Oscar.

In 93, Oscar KO'd him in four rounds.

Almost exactly the way I predicted, unanimous decision. I think De La Hoya has proven(although I know he will) that he can beat Mayweather.

Forbes was no pushover, but Oscar outclassed him.
I don't think that fight proved anything. Floyed is a lot faster, and has more power than Forbes. Oscar got caught way too much.
I think Oscar can beat Mayweather, but not fighting like he did tonight.
