You know your team is in good hands when you have the likes of Grossman and Orton competing to be your starting quarterback.

lol @ Da Bears

Note to Bears: trade your 1st round pick and maybe a 4th or 5th to the Eagles for McNabb.

If they throw in a couple of pounds of Chicago sausages, they can have Reid as well.

Man it's sad to see Da Bears in this kind of situation. There like the Ravens of the NFC, and it just goes to prove that no matter how good your defense is, and even your special teams football is still a three phase game and you must compete on every snap. They no longer have a solid rushing attack having traded Thomas Jones away, and with GB, Minnesota, and Detroit having made strides in getting better I don't see Chicago doing much this season either no matter who they have under center leading one of the least offensive able teams in the NFL.

Can anyone think of a team with a longer running streak of mediocre-to-poor starting QBs? Since 2000, they've had McNown, Jim Miller, Shane Matthews, Chris Chandler, Henry Morris, Jonathan Quinn, Kyle Orton, Rex Grossman, and probably a couple other horrific QBs I'm forgetting.

Not close with the Browns. They had Anderson this year and didn't Garcia have a decent season for them a couple of years ago?

10 TD's, 9 INT's and a 76.7 passer rating... sure by Browns standards, that's a good season... but compared to any other QB, it's crap.

Before Anderson, the Browns didn't have a decent QB play for them since 1991.

Kelly Holcomb had one nice season in relief, didn't he?

Also, I forgot the immortal Kordell Stewart for Da Bears.

The Browns did have a few bad quarterbacks, but still Da Bears take the cake with poor QB play. Maybe they need to take some money out of that high paid defense, and find them a field general who is able to keep the offense on the field longer then three, and out on a consistent basis.

I can think of a few off the top of my head starting with the Dolphins.

Then there is Buf, Cle (already mentioned), Balt, and possibly Wash??

I'm not saying Rex is great or anything. IMO, he's just an avg QB. The problem in the NFL is there aren't really that many great QB's. There are plenty with potential but not many great ones. It's not like lots of teams are willing to give up good QB's or the FA market is loaded with them.

Since the Bears are one of my favorite teams, I wouldn't mind seeing McNabb but I'd NEVER give up a first rd pick for him. Maybe, maybe a second rounder, but I'd lean towards a 3rd rounder. He's just too injury prone. Plus he'd have the same WR issues here in Chi now.

But I would give Philly a couple picks to keep Reid. tongue

We actually need an RB more. Benson has been absolutely dreadful.

*applauds benson is crap comment above*

I just couldn't understand how the bears chose Benson over Jones like that. While I do agree with the fact that Rex can be a decent quarterback at times he's lack of consistancy playing well as been a very undermining factor in the bears struggles over the past season before he was benched. Poor quarterback play will kill any team no matter how well they perform in the other two facets of the game. While Chicago boasted a pretty good defense they were plagued with short fields to defend, and were amongst one of the teams ranked highest in opponent time of possession in the league.

Unlike offense to play defense requires an extra gear especially when a team finds itself either on a long drive or a short field to defend. This past season saw chicago start off inside it's own half more then 3/4's of the teams in the league, and it doesn't matter if you have 100 Brian Urlacher's out there a defense just can't play against that kind of pressure all season long offenses in the NFL are just to good not to at least come away with three points.

I seriously hope that Chicago gets some help at the quatterback, and running back positions because I hate to see a great defense become overshadowed by their less then productive counterparts.

I loved the Bears once and they broke my heart, the lesson is to never love anything.

In all seriousness, Orton is the way to go.

Either way I've given up on the Bears, I've all ways been more of a Packer fan anyway

Holcomb had two good seasons with the Browns... unfortunately he started a total of 4 games in those two seasons combined. I really don't think 4 good games qualifies him as a decent QB. Especially considering that the season where he had the most playing time for the Browns, he started 8 games and threw 10 TD's to 12 INT's.
