Well, if the trade(s) happen, from what I hear on the rumor mills Sowers and Lee would be two of the big names moving from the Tribe. But a rotation of Sabathia, Haren, Carmona, Westbrook and Byrd would be very, very formidable.

Really either way the Giants shoot themselves in the foot with either deal.

No kidding. The best thing for the future is not trade away the starting pitchers and wait several years for a slugger to rise (hopefully) from the farm system. Unfortunately, there seems to be no such person currently, although the Giants had a relatively good draft the past season.

No matter what, I'll guarantee at least 3 more cellar years before the Giants become competitive again.

I'm kind of excited to see where Fukodome goes. Naturally I hope the Cubs get him. The thing about players from Japan is that they either sink or swim. Dice-K was a dissapointment in the long run when you had that hype

Fukodome really isn't all that. The hype on Dice-K was just stupid. The MLB's competition is far and beyond Japan's league. Granted the guys are good but it's just not nearly the same. So to hype up a guy so much when he's moving up to a much more "advanced" league is just ridiculous. Of course people do that with college to pros but at least it's still in the same damn country.

Giants sign Rowand for $60 million, 5 years.

To me, it seems the right choice. I was expecting someone of higher caliber (not that Rowand's a pushover), but in the end, the Giants pulled off an outfielder without trading away Cain or Lincecum.

Okay, I think the only reason why I don't like this guy is because of the All-Star Game. Brings any memories, anyone? angry

Rowand is a great club house leader. However, the Giants are too far away from competing this year that I don't know how much of an impact Rowand will have. I do wish the Phils would have kept him.

Oh hoe frustrating it is to be an A's fan....

sigh...their next group of young player will be stars too, pulled from the best farm system in baseball.

And in three to four years....they will be on other teams who are willing to pay them.

I can't believe Johnson is still pitching! I really thought he was going to retire after his horrible years with the Yankees and his injury this past year. I written him off as having lost his stuff.

I mean this as no insult or to put down any team over my favorite team. If he still has his stuff, the more power to him.

Yanks still in talks for Santana.

I believe that this will get done now. The Yankees realize that Pettitte is only around for one more year, Clemens will now be history, and that they need a quality pitcher to get by the Red Sox.

Cards agree to trade that would send Rolen to Blue Jays for Glaus.

Well, LaRussa won't have to worry about the conflict that he and Rolen have continued to have ever since he sat him purposely out of a game.
