The US's chances vs Spain are looking dim. First its on clay and they have Nadal and 2nd Bob Bryand and James Blake pulled out.

The Spain/US semifinal was not pretty to watch. It was like a soccer atmosphere there...

O yeah its always tough in Spain. I would like to see how they would do on good ole American Hard Courts though, because it seems like we always play spain away.

Can we rename this thread to actually have the word "Tennis" in the title?

In the Masters Cup, we've just had an epic Federer-Murray match. One game lasted nearly 20 minutes with Murray having SEVEN match points in it. It was brilliant to watch.

But I go back to what I said before. Murray cannot handle the pressure points. He had 7 match points (against serve) in the aforementioned game, and failed to convert any of them, making stupid errors. He only won the match when he had TWO match points, and thus the pressure wasn't on.

Give it a couple of years, and he'll be number one though. He will learn patience.

Aye. Isn't that 4-2 to Murray in matches against Federer?

Although of course he lost the important one earlier this year tongue

I remember reading that stat and having to read it over again. That is a darned good record for anyone not named Nadal. Actually, Murray has the same percentage of victories as Nadal. I can recall in the beginning of the year when I remarked to myself how British tennis was doomed with Murray at its head. Look how far he's come this season!

The 2009 ATP season really gets started today with the Australian Open! Can we get a title revision?

This will be an exciting Australian. There are several who can win this thing. Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, Murray and maybe Del Potro.

Will we have another surprise finalist? Monfils? Simon? So many questions will be answered at the years first big event. The Austalian open is shroaded in mystery every year.

Federer has a tough 1st round opponent in Andreas Seppi.

Great win for the continent of Asia. No joke. Kei Nishikori just doesn't cut it yet. Hopefully Lu can make some kind of miraculous run, not the least bit coming from a victory over Robredo in the next round.
