Yesterday Radek Stepanek defeated Mardy Fish to with the 09 SAP Open. He became the 5th player to win both the singles and doubles tournaments in the same year.

Like I did last year, I'll put up a link to a video I took of a match. This is from the semifinal on 2/14 between Stepanek and Roddick. Enjoy!

So the French Open is in 2 weeks and things just got a lot spicier as Federer just beat Nadal in madrid 6-4, 6-4 to end Nadal's long clay win streak.

Not to mention Nadal struggled against Djokovic and apparently is having trouble with his knees.

If Roger is going to do it, it should be this year, I think.

Nadal def Daniel 7-5 6-4 6-3

Daniel actually played pretty well and Nadal looked rusty.

And now Federer is the best clay courter left. People lose sight of the reality that Federer is one of the best clay court players in the world today. He just happens to play in the same era as probably the greatest clay court wizard in tennis history (today's performance aside).

Federer will never forgive himself if he doesn't complete a career Grand Slam now.

I'm not sure why anyone would lose sight of that given he's been in the final 3 years straight.

But it's always about how he loses to Nadal when he gets there.

Federer had to rally from 2 sets down to beat Tommy Haas today.

People do lose sight because they always say he is like Sampras in that he never won the french. But sampras only made as far as the semifinal and only once did he do that.

It's a big chance for Federer, no question.

Huge chance, no question.

A win here would not only give him the career slam but also tie him with Sampras for Slam wins, right?
