Am I the only grinch here on the JC about it? Every year it gets hyped up by so many people as if it's a great thing, when in reality, it really isn't.

I have a disdain for college sports in general, but even more so for college football (at least college basketball has the damn Tourney) because of a lack of an actual playoff system.

I'd be much happier with the Bowls if one of two things happened:
1) Outside of the National Title Game, we completely scrapped perks and desired match-ups, and went back to history and giving conference rankings their historical slot. Also, we force Bowls to have an actual name, and not just a sponsor name. So, the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl is okay, but the Chick-Fil-A Bowl is not.
2) We completely scrap conference affiliations and let a large committee give us great matchups that fans really want to see. Also, we do the naming as said above.

I love being able to watch tons of good football games. Most of the bowl games are close, at least of the ones I've watched. (Minus a few today)
Its even more fun to be at a bowl game. I've seen Purdue/Georgia and Wisconsin/Auburn bowl games and they were awesome, despite not having a stake in either game (as a Texas A&M fan).

Exactly. Money isn't everything, and just because corporations whore out their names onto "special" bowl games don't mean **** (because, if you think about it, an actual whore isn't special).
As a football fan who likes to watch good, enjoyable football games: me. And other people like me, I suppose.
Ever hear of the phrase "Too much of a good thing"? Just because something is good/enjoyable to watch (ie: football), doesn't mean it needs to be de-vauled over the holiday season for entertainment (the regular season isn't enough?).

And for me, the point of saturation hasn't come yet. I'm not at the point where I'm saying "Football again? Get this off my tv!". And I don't think I'll get there.
Also, I don't need to remember who was playing in the force.net bowl or who won or what the score was to enjoy it. I simply have to recognize while watching it that I'm enjoying a good game of competitive football to enjoy it regardless of actual impact it has on the sporting world longterm.

I've enjoyed only one bowl game: BYU v. UCLA. That was actually an entertaining game and it came down to a blocked field goal.
I've been totally disenthralled with the BCS games so far. Both have been blow-outs with the losers never having been suited or fit for a BCS game in the first place.

Tell that to the thousands (in some teams cases hundreds of thousands) of diehard fans who travel, sometimes far distances to see thier team and live and die with them.
