Who are your favorite announcers of all time? Who do you think are the best announcers of all time?

My favorite announcer is Harry Kalas: the voice of the Phillies and official voice of NFL Films and the NFL.

Honorable mentions: Merrill Reese, Chick Hearn, Vin Scully, Pat Summerall, Marv Albert, John Madden (for the laughs) and Bob Costas.

Tom Cheek
Jim Hughson
Chuck Swirsky

Honourable mention goes to Dave Mishkin who does radio play-by-play for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Starts at 0:48

Cracks me up every time.

Edit: And I just found his game ending call for Game 7 of the Finals when TB won the Cup.

Phil Rizzuto for the NY Yankees. I grew up listening to him announcing and I still smile every time I hear Meat Loaf's Paradise by the Dashboard Light. (Lyrics and Rizzuto credit here.)

I'm a big fan of Paul Steigerwald and Mike Lange, voices of the Pens. They've both worked radio and tv, and are good. I'm still kind of bitter about Mike Lange's raw deal with FSN Pittsburgh two season ago. angry

I also like the voice of NFL Films, Harry Kalas. Throw in John Madden in the mix for the comic relief factor.

I think Miller does those. Or Dan Schulman (who is also good). Or both. tongue
