RE: NFL Draft 2008
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
Round 1, Pick 7 (7) (From 49ers through Patriots) Sedrick Ellis DT 6'1" 305 Southern Cal
Pick Analysis:The Saints traded up to boost the interior of their front four. Ellis will be counted on to clog up the line of scrimmage and be a disruptive force in the backfield. His best traits are exceptional strength and great instincts.
Round 2, Pick 9 (40) Tracy Porter CB 5'11" 185 Indiana
Pick Analysis:The Saints continue to address their defense, as Porter projects as a third corner. He was productive at Indiana, but like many corners, is not known as a good tackler.
Round 5, Pick 9 (144) (From Lions) DeMario Pressley DT 6'3" 301 North Carolina State
Pick Analysis:The latest in a recent tradition of North Carolina State defensive ends like former No. 1 overall pick Mario Williams and former first-round pick Manny Lawson. Pressley has great athleticism, speed and quickness for his size. He is an explosive player off the ball with good upside.
Round 5, Pick 29 (164) (From Patriots) Carl Nicks OT 6'5" 341 Nebraska
Pick Analysis:Nicks hasn't played enough college football to expect great things from him early in his career. He does have bulk and can move better than expected at his weight. There are some concerns that he will battle weight issues throughout his career, but he can block a linebacker in space. This is a boom-or-bust pick.
Round 6, Pick 12 (178) Taylor Mehlhaff K 5'10" 185 Wisconsin
Pick Analysis:Mehlhaff is a left-footed kicker with good accuracy. Good, not great, leg strength. He's more of a 45-yard and in kicker, but demonstrated great accuracy while kicking in a tough place at Wisconsin.
Round 7, Pick 30 (237) (From Packers) Adrian Arrington WR 6'3" 203 Michigan
Pick Analysis:Some thought Arrington was a very good player that was overshadowed by Manningham at Michigan. He has good hands and caught a lot of passes. He lacks breakaway speed, but is a good possession receiver. A hamstring injury that prevented him from working out at the combine hurt his stock.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
NEW YORK GIANTS
Round 1, Pick 31 (31) Kenny Phillips FS 6'2" 208 Miami
Pick Analysis:After losing Gibril Wilson to the Raiders in free agency, the Giants make a need pick in Kenny Phillips. Of all the safeties in the draft, Phillips probably is the closest to the current NFL prototype, which is a guy as capable against the run as he is in coverage. Phillips has enough athleticism to do a good job against tight ends and slot receivers, but is still big and physical enough to be a force in run defense.
Round 2, Pick 32 (63) Terrell Thomas CB 6'1" 198 Southern Cal
Pick Analysis:Thomas is a versatile corner that may even be able to play safety if the Giants feel the need. With Gibril Wilson gone and Kenny Phillips taken in the first round, the Giants addressed the secondary again. Thomas has long arms and good tackling skills, making him an intriguing prospect in the Giants' pressure-filled defense.
Round 3, Pick 32 (95) Mario Manningham WR 6'0" 181 Michigan
Pick Analysis:Manningham was very productive in college and is a talented player that had a much higher grade before a poor showing at the combine. The Giants will try and get him focused and could have found a talent late in the draft.
Round 4, Pick 24 (123) (From Steelers) Bryan Kehl OLB 6'2" 242 BYU
Pick Analysis:Kehl played as a freshman and went on to become a four-year starter at BYU. He is a playmaking linebacker with great speed and productivity. He is versatile and can play inside or outside and on special teams.
Round 5, Pick 30 (165) Jonathan Goff LB 6'2" 245 Vanderbilt
Pick Analysis:Goff got better every season during his four years in college. He's a solid leader, having been a team captain for two years. He struggles to disengage from blockers, quickly recognize keys and diagnose plays.
Round 6, Pick 32 (198) Andre' Woodson QB 6'5" 224 Kentucky
Pick Analysis:Woodson came into the Senior Bowl with great expectations but took a major nose-dive with a poor performance. His combine was also not especially outstanding and his draft stock really suffered. He has a long delivery and there are questions about his throwing motion. He was very productive in college, however, and has talent.
Round 6, Pick 33 (199) (Compensatory selection) Robert Henderson DE 6'3" 278 Southern Miss
Pick Analysis:Henderson is a defensive end with decent size and speed. He is a good pass rusher and dominated his conference. He must show he can jump to the pro level.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
NEW YORK JETS
Round 1, Pick 6 (6) Vernon Gholston DE 6'4" 258 Ohio State
Pick Analysis:With this pick, the Jets become more athletic on defense. Gholston will need to show more consistency to match his physical talent. If he's able to become an every down player, Gholston has Pro Bowl potential playing in the Jets' 3-4 scheme. He has more sacks than any Division I player over last two seasons (23).
Round 1, Pick 30 (30) (From Packers) Dustin Keller TE 6'3" 242 Purdue
Pick Analysis:Keller brings good college production as an H-back and slot-type guy. The Jets get the player they haven't had to go down the seam. They could have went with a receiver like a Devin Thomas or James Hardy, but instead trade up to get one of the draft's top tight ends in Keller.
Round 4, Pick 14 (113) (From Saints through Packers) Dwight Lowery CB 6'1" 185 San Jose State
Pick Analysis:Lowery led the nation in interceptions as a junior in 2006. He didn't play as well this fall after recovering from a broken jaw before the season. He is better in zone coverage than man-to-man. He is also a good return man on special teams.
Round 5, Pick 27 (162) (From Packers) Erik Ainge QB 6'6" 225 Tennessee
Pick Analysis:A seasoned starter at Tennessee, Ainge has decent arm strength. He didn't compete favorably at the Senior Bowl. He is the nephew of Celtics GM Danny Ainge and is not afraid to perform under the spotlight. He will likely come in and be a long-term developmental option should Kellen Clemens falter for the Jets.
Round 6, Pick 5 (171) Marcus Henry WR 6'4" 207 Kansas
Pick Analysis:Henry is tall and fast. He's got a lot of upside, but is just figuring out how to play the game. Henry is a humble player with a good work ethic and is willing to learn.
Round 7, Pick 4 (211) Nate Garner OT 6'7" 319 Arkansas
Pick Analysis:Garner is a big, tall guy but is not very fast so he is not ideal for pulling. He has experience as a five-year senior and those players have generally worked out well in the pros. He is strong and projects as a possible depth player.

OAKLAND RAIDERS
Round 1, Pick 4 (4) Darren McFadden RB 6'2" 210 Arkansas
Pick Analysis:Arguably the most talented player in the draft, McFadden brings a big-play threat to Oakland. He will offer a compliment to quarterback JaMarcus Russell, who was the first overall pick in 2007. In three years at Arkansas, he carried 785 times for 4,590 yards and 41 touchdowns. He has exceptional acceleration and upper body strength.
Round 4, Pick 1 (100) (From Dolphins through Cowboys) Tyvon Branch CB 6'0" 204 Connecticut
Pick Analysis:Branch is strong, fast and has started for four years. His measurables have been exceptional. Branch's strong workout numbers compare to only five other players at his position and four have played in the Pro Bowl, while the fifth is a quality contributor in the NFL.
Round 4, Pick 26 (125) (From Jaguars through Ravens) Arman Shields WR 6'1" 194 Richmond
Pick Analysis:Shields did not have as good a senior year as he did as a junior, but he's still tall and he's fast. He ran a 4.37 40 and also had impressive cone drill numbers. He's a guy who can amass yards after the catch and make plays.
Round 6, Pick 3 (169) Trevor Scott DE 6'5" 256 Buffalo
Pick Analysis:Scott is a tall defensive end, with speed. He has great workout numbers, but his production on the field was somewhat lacking. He needs to demonstrate on the field the talent that his workout numbers indicate he could be capable of.
Round 7, Pick 19 (226) (From Vikings through Jets) Chaz Schilens WR 6'4" 225 San Diego State
Pick Analysis:Schilens excites people because of his exceptional size and speed. Due to his pure athleticism, he will have a chance to make the roster. He still needs some polish as a receiver.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Round 2, Pick 16 (47) (From Vikings) Trevor Laws DT 6'1" 304 Notre Dame
Pick Analysis:Laws is an intelligent player, who the Eagles most likely took because of his fit in their 4-3 scheme. If not for that, Laws likely would have not gone this high. But his motor and his ability to read plays will be a good addition for Philly.
Round 2, Pick 18 (49) DeSean Jackson WR 6'0" 178 California
Pick Analysis:Donovan McNabb gets the playmaker he's been coveting in Jackson. A deep threat, Jackson is in the mold of Carolina's Steve Smith -- a small but shifty receiver, who gives the Eagles their most explosive weapon since Terrell Owens, as well as a potentially great punt returner.
Round 3, Pick 17 (80) Bryan Smith OLB 6'2" 228 McNeese State
Pick Analysis:Smith is an undersized player who weights only 228 pounds, but has great speed. He wowed the scouts at his pro day and had some academic problems, which is why he ended up at McNeesse State. The Eagles like those small defensive ends and have done pretty well with them. It looks like he could find a home at weakside linebacker.
Round 4, Pick 10 (109) (From Panthers) Mike McGlynn OT 6'5" 318 Pittsburgh
Pick Analysis:McGlynn came to the Senior Bowl and really raised eyebrows at guard. He's a very physical player - at Pitt he was in a scuffle every day, and made 42 starts
Round 4, Pick 18 (117) (From Vikings) Quintin Demps FS 6'0" 206 Texas-El Paso
Pick Analysis:Demps was a three-year starter at Texas-El Paso who recorded a lot of interceptions (17). He also had 275 tackles in college and ran an extremely impressive 4.39 40-yard dash at the combine. He's a rangy player and could end up a good cover-two safety.
Round 4, Pick 32 (131) (Compensatory selection) Jack Ikegwuonu CB 5'11" 194 Wisconsin
Pick Analysis:Ikegwuonu is a solid player, but his draft status took a serious hit after he tore his ACL in January. This is the point of the draft where you may take a player who will not play in the 2007 season, and Ikegwuonu fits the bill in that respect. He is good value at this point in the draft and showed his skills by shutting down receivers such as James Hardy in the Big Ten.
Round 6, Pick 18 (184) Mike Gibson OT 6'4" 305 California
Pick Analysis:Gibson will probably be a guard at the pro level and is very strong. He may have the agility to play some tackle in the NFL and is willing to put in the work. He has decent waist-bend ability.
Round 6, Pick 34 (200) (Compensatory selection) Joe Mays ILB 5'11" 245 North Dakota State
Pick Analysis:Mays had a good workout at his pro day. He is shorter, but is a great special teams player. That will probably be his role at the NFL level and he could be one of the league's better contributors in the kick coverage.
Round 6, Pick 37 (203) (Compensatory selection) Andy Studebaker OLB 6'3" 251 Wheaton
Pick Analysis:Studebaker is a hybrid linebacker/defensive end with decent size, though he is slender. He has speed and is very strong as well. He's probably slated to be a special teamer at this point.
Round 7, Pick 23 (230) (From Seahawks) King Dunlap OT 6'9" 310 Auburn
Pick Analysis:Dunlap had a terrible senior year. After his junior season, he was potentially a second-round pick, but his lackluster senior campaign really damaged his draft stock. He was beaten out by a freshman and that had him free-falling to the seventh round.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Round 1, Pick 23 (23) Rashard Mendenhall RB 5'11" 210 Illinois
Pick Analysis:With Felix Jones off the board, Mendenhall is a much better fit for Pittsburgh's style. While Mendenhall didn't win the starting job for two years, he enters the league without a lot of wear-and-tear on his body. In his only season as the featured back, he put up 1,681 yards and 17 touchdowns on 262 carries
Round 2, Pick 22 (53) Limas Sweed WR 6'4" 212 Texas
Pick Analysis:Once again the Steelers have found themselves a game-changer at great value. Many consider Sweed a Plaxico Burress-type receiver, with a 6-foot-4 frame and long arms. If he stays in line, he could find the same success with the Steelers that Burress had with Ben Roethlisberger before he left Pittsburgh.
Round 3, Pick 25 (88) Bruce Davis DE 6'3" 252 UCLA
Pick Analysis:Davis did very well in his first extended time as a linebacker at the Senior Bowl. He's a classic Steeler type of player. Davis is very bright and has a knack for getting to the quarterback with his speed.
Round 4, Pick 31 (130) (From Giants) Tony Hills OT 6'6" 305 Texas
Pick Analysis:Hills has battled injuries during his career. He started 24 games during his time at Texas. He still has room to grow into his 6-foot-6 frame as a converted tight end.
Round 5, Pick 21 (156) Dennis Dixon QB 6'4" 205 Oregon
Pick Analysis:Dixon wants to play quarterback, but he can run, pass and catch. The Steelers will incorporate him into some packages of their offense. He could be utilized similar to Kordell Stewart in the last decade.
Round 6, Pick 22 (188) Mike Humpal LB 6'3" 244 Iowa
Pick Analysis:Humpal battled injuries early in his career to become a productive linebacker at Iowa. He has good size and will have a chance to stick around as a special teams contributor and reserve linebacker.
Round 6, Pick 28 (194) (From Packers through Giants) Ryan Mundy FS 6'1" 215 West Virginia
Pick Analysis:Mundy is a safety who can run well. He's not real big, but was a productive three-year starter at West Virginia.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
Round 1, Pick 27 (27) Antoine Cason CB 6'0" 190 Arizona
Pick Analysis:The Chargers go with a cornerback, looking to replace Drayton Florence, who left in free agency. Cason was one of the late risers of the draft. Teams began to appreciate how much talent he had after some impressive workouts. Among the corners in this draft, Cason is ready to make a significant impact as a rookie.
Round 3, Pick 6 (69) (From Raiders through Patriots) Jacob Hester FB 5'11" 230 LSU
Pick Analysis:The Chargers get a winner in Hester, who is a strong dual back who can play both fullback and tailback. He's an inside runner and good around the goal line. With Michael Turner gone to Atlanta, Hester will be a good third down option as well as an excellent special teams player.
Round 5, Pick 31 (166) (Compensatory selection) Marcus Thomas RB 6'2" 215 Texas-El Paso
Pick Analysis:Thomas is not a burner, but has good enough speed to compliment his size. He's good at finding a hole and getting through it. With Michael Turner gone as a free agent, Thomas could be asked to spell LaDainian Tomlinson on occasion.
Round 6, Pick 26 (192) DeJuan Tribble CB 5'9" 190 Boston College
Pick Analysis:Tribble was a major part of Boston College's impressive 2007 season and displayed some solid coverage skills. He has speed and quickness but is short at 5-foot-9.
Round 7, Pick 27 (234) Corey Clark OT 6'6" 315 Texas A&M
Pick Analysis:Clark has good size and decent speed. He was a two-year starter at Texas A&M and had a average combine performance. He has long arms with a chance to compete for a low-end roster spot or a place on the practice squad.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Round 1, Pick 29 (29) (From Colts) Kentwan Balmer DE 6'5" 298 North Carolina
Pick Analysis:While a wide receiver would have also made sense here, you can also get one later in the draft. With Bryant Young retired, Balmer helps an aging defensive line.
Round 2, Pick 8 (39) Chilo Rachal OG 6'5" 315 Southern Cal
Pick Analysis:When Rachal gets a hand on somebody they don't get free or make a play. That's what you want out of a guard. He came out a year early and could take a little time to develop and should get that with a young team.
Round 3, Pick 12 (75) (From Bears) Reggie Smith DB 6'1" 199 Oklahoma
Pick Analysis:Smith is a guy that can play both corner and safety, though the 49ers will likely play him at the nickel position to start out his career. What he lacks in speed, he makes up for with his tackling and ability to turn players insider towards the linebackers.
Round 4, Pick 8 (107) Cody Wallace OL 6'4" 296 Texas A&M
Pick Analysis:Wallace is a good, dependable player with football intelligence who can play in the power game. He was knocked to the ground a little too much, but rated as the best center available and made a lot of starts in college.
Round 6, Pick 8 (174) Josh Morgan WR 6'0" 219 Virginia Tech
Pick Analysis:Morgan is a very fast receiver, but a tough evaluation because Virginia Tech doesn't throw the ball a lot. He was also overshadowed by Eddie Royal. Morgan is a solid special teams player who will contribute at the pro level.
Round 7, Pick 7 (214) Larry Grant OLB 6'1" 235 Ohio State
Pick Analysis:Grant transferred to Ohio State from a junior college. He's not very big, but has decent speed. He's an outside linebacker and was relatively productive for the Buckeyes.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Round 1, Pick 28 (28) (From Cowboys) Lawrence Jackson DE 6'5" 268 Southern Cal
Pick Analysis:Jackson is a complete defensive end. He produced 30.5 sacks at USC and also showed up against the run. Jackson could initially contribute with the Seahawks as a situational pass rusher with the chance to develop into a starter.
Round 2, Pick 7 (38) (From Ravens) John Carlson TE 6'5" 251 Notre Dame
Pick Analysis:The Seahawks selection of Carlson comes at somewhat of a surprise with a player like Fred Davis still on the board. But in Carlson Seattle gets a player who has solid blocking potential, though he appears limited in his pass-catching ability.
Round 4, Pick 22 (121) Red Bryant DT 6'5" 328 Texas A&M
Pick Analysis:Bryant is more of a two-gap inside defensive tackle in the more traditional 4-3. His role will be to keep blockers off Lofa Tatupu and collapse the pocket. He's a run stuffer who will probably come off the field in passing situations. He also has impressive speed for his size and is a good value at this point in the draft.
Round 5, Pick 28 (163) (From Cowboys) Owen Schmitt FB 6'2" 250 West Virginia
Pick Analysis:Schmitt has great passion for football and is a strong blocker and a willing teammate. He fits the mold of a blocking NFL fullback and probably will not get a lot of touches as a rusher or receiver, but is unafraid to throw himself into bigger defenders and sacrifice his body. He was the unsung player in West Virginia's explosive running attack, blocking for Pat White and Steve Slaton.
Round 6, Pick 23 (189) (From Titans) Tyler Schmitt LS 6'2" 234 San Diego State
Pick Analysis:It's rare that a long snapper is taken this high in the draft, but he was a superstar at the combine and because of his strong measurables can make some plays in special teams even when not snapping. He is the best long snapper in the draft.
Round 7, Pick 26 (233) (From Jaguars) Justin Forsett RB 5'8" 190 California
Pick Analysis:Good college production with nice hands coming out of the backfield. He has an impressive burst but is undersized. He doesn't have great sprinting speed but is quick and can change direction quickly.
Round 7, Pick 28 (235) (From Cowboys) Brandon Coutu K 5'11" 187 Georgia
Pick Analysis:Coutu had an excellent Pro Day workout that vaulted him up draft boards. He has a strong leg and displayed very good accuracy as well. With the loss of Josh Brown, the Seahawks will use Coutu to compete with Olindo Mare at kicker.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
ST. LOUIS RAMS
Round 1, Pick 2 (2) Chris Long DE 6'4" 275 Virginia
Pick Analysis:For the second straight year, the Rams go with a defensive lineman in the first round. Long played as a true freshman in 2004 and started 37 games over the past three years at Virginia. His best traits are strength and a quick first step. He will be used as an edge rusher in the 4-3 scheme employed by the Rams.
Round 2, Pick 2 (33) Donnie Avery WR 5'11" 186 Houston
Pick Analysis:Few had Avery as their No. 1 wide receiver, but Scott Linehan loves speed. Avery ran really fast at his pro day (4.34) after a slower time at the combine because he was dealing with an injury. He should be a good fit for the system in St. Louis.
Round 3, Pick 2 (65) John Greco OT 6'5" 320 Toledo
Pick Analysis:The Rams are looking to get more physical up front, and in Greco they get a guy with a lot of potential. He performed really well at the Senior Bowl. He's somewhat under the radar, coming from a smaller school, but has shown solid promise.
Round 4, Pick 2 (101) Justin King CB 5'11" 192 Penn State
Pick Analysis:King is probably the fastest corner remaining and is a good value at this point in the draft. He'll probably play as a nickelback at in St. Louis.
Round 4, Pick 29 (128) (From Packers) Keenan Burton WR 6'1" 200 Kentucky
Pick Analysis:Burton is a fast player and has good size. His measurables are strong and he was productive at Kentucky. The Rams are known for producing good receivers and Burton has a chance to join the list.
Round 5, Pick 22 (157) (From Titans through Redskins) Roy Schuening OG 6'4" 308 Oregon State
Pick Analysis:Schuening made 50 college starts, but played most of this year with pneumonia and couldn't shake it, going in and out of IVs. He did not play particularly well against Sedrick Ellis, but had a good career at Oregon State and is a very solid player.
Round 7, Pick 21 (228) (From Redskins) Chris Chamberlain DB 6'2" 226 Tulsa
Pick Analysis:Tulsa had a large crowd at its pro day because of quarterback Paul Smith. However, Chamberlin was the guy who ended up wowing scouts with his incredible workout. His measurables and skills are impressive. He has a chance to compete for a roster spot and should be a good special teams player.
Round 7, Pick 45 (252) (Compensatory selection) David Vobora OLB 6'1" 236 Idaho
Pick Analysis:Vobora projects as a linebacker. He had a great workout and fits at the will position. He could find a place in the league based on his talent and athleticism.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Round 1, Pick 20 (20) Aqib Talib CB 6'1" 202 Kansas
Pick Analysis:Looking to get younger in their secondary, and finally considering what life may be like without Ronde Barber, the Bucs goes with Talib. At 6-foot-1, Talib is a physical corner who will compete for a starting spot now that Brian Kelly has left for Detroit.
Round 2, Pick 27 (58) (From Jaguars) Dexter Jackson KR 5'10" 182 Appalachian State
Pick Analysis:Jackson is an excellent return man with tremendous speed, a 4.33 in the 40. He didn't catch a lot of passes at Appalachian State, but that's because they are not a passing offense. He has the ability to make big plays. He averaged 16.8-yards on 110 receptions.
Round 3, Pick 20 (83) Jeremy Zuttah OG 6'4" 303 Rutgers
Pick Analysis:Versatility is the key here as the Buccaneers add depth to their offensive line. Zuttah played tackle in college but he is a possiblity at both guard and center in the pros.
Round 4, Pick 16 (115) (From Dolphins through Bears) Dre Moore DT 6'4" 305 Maryland
Pick Analysis:Moore is a guy who is comfortable in either the 3-4, or 4-3. He is strong and fast and is a very appealing value at this point in the draft. He also has a mean streak and can play tough in the trenches. His size and strength make him a force at the tackle position.
Round 5, Pick 25 (160) (From Chargers through Patriots) Josh Johnson QB 6'3" 198 San Diego
Pick Analysis:The Bucs have a lot of quarterbacks on their roster, but you pull the trigger anytime you have a chance to take one who can develop into a potential starter. He's not a great passer, but has excellent athleticism for a quarterback and is a good scrambler.
Round 6, Pick 9 (175) (From Bears) Geno Hayes ILB 6'1" 226 Florida State
Pick Analysis:The 6-1, 235 pound linebacker has great speed and quickness and is a reliable tackler. He can play inside or outside in the NFL and is a great hitter. He lacks some coverage skills.
Round 7, Pick 31 (238) (From Patriots) Cory Boyd RB 6'1" 213 South Carolina
Pick Analysis:Boyd is a very good receiver coming out of the backfield. He has solid hands and is also effective on draws. He matured during his senior year and ran pretty well in his workouts. Boyd is shifty and changes directions well.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
TENNESSEE TITANS
Round 1, Pick 24 (24) Chris Johnson RB 5'11" 197 East Carolina
Pick Analysis:Some have compared Johnson to Reggie Bush. He had the fastest 40-yard dash at the combine at 4.24 seconds. He's most effective in packages where you split him out wide or get him in space because of his tremendous speed. He'll be a compliment to the power-rushing style of LenDale White in Tennessee.
Round 2, Pick 23 (54) Jason Jones DE 6'5" 273 Eastern Michigan
Pick Analysis:The Titans need to replace Antwan Odom at the right defensive end position, which is likely where a guy like Jones fits in. Whether he can start right away will be determined in training camp, as his play this past season tended to be somewhat inconsistent. With Albert Haynesworth and Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jones will get a lot of one-on-one opportunities.
Round 3, Pick 22 (85) Craig Stevens TE 6'3" 254 California
Pick Analysis:Stevens is one of, if not the best blocking tight end in the draft - a guy who lives in the weight room. He hasn't caught many passes but nobody has questioned his hands. He's going to be asked to protect Vince Young and he's going to run block a lot. His style is similar to Anthony Becht. He is a decent underneath receiver but not suited to go deep.
Round 4, Pick 4 (103) (From Falcons through Redskins) William Hayes DL 6'2" 258 Winston-Salem State
Pick Analysis:Hayes is a bit of a surprise at this point in the draft, but the Titans have a need at defensive end after having lost Antwan Odom to the Bengals in free agency.
Round 4, Pick 27 (126) (From Cowboys) Lavelle Hawkins WR 5'11" 187 California
Pick Analysis:Hawkins has experienced big games at California. He does not possess exceptional speed, but was outstanding at the Senior Bowl. Even though his physical numbers are not real strong, he's an example of a player who plays much faster than he works out.
Round 4, Pick 35 (134) (Compensatory selection) Stanford Keglar OLB 6'2" 239 Purdue
Pick Analysis:Keglar will be a good special teams player. He had phenomenal numbers in the workouts, including a 4.55 40 and a great vertical. He started three years at Purdue and also has very good size. He could be a sleeper and holds great value at this point in the draft given his measurables and athletic ability. His toughness is one possible question mark.
Round 7, Pick 22 (229) Cary Williams CB 6'1" 185 Washburn
Pick Analysis:Williams originally played at Fordham before transferring to Washburn. He was discovered at the Kansas Pro Day and worked out very well. His measurables are strong and he played from Day one at Fordham. He also has size at 6-foot-1.

RE: NFL Draft 2008
WASHINGTON REDSKINS
Round 2, Pick 3 (34) (From Raiders through Falcons) Devin Thomas WR 6'2" 215 Michigan State
Pick Analysis:The Redskins traded back and still got the top wide receiver on their board. Thomas has great athletic ability, but really only put up big numbers one year in college. He'll have a chance to get immediate playing time in Washington.
Round 2, Pick 17 (48) (From Texans through Falcons) Fred Davis TE 6'4" 248 Southern Cal
Pick Analysis:Davis gives the Redskins a solid one-two punch at tight with starter Chris Cooley. Washington decided to add depth at the position because Davis' hands and his ability to separate were too good to pass up. He started 23 games over the past two years.
Round 2, Pick 20 (51) Malcolm Kelly WR 6'4" 218 Oklahoma
Pick Analysis:The Redskins use a second draft pick on a wide receiver in the round. Kelly is similar in size to Devin Thomas and gives the team a lot of young talent to work with. It appears Washington will wait to address its other needs.
Round 3, Pick 33 (96) (Compensatory selection) Chad Rinehart OT 6'5" 320 Northern Iowa
Pick Analysis:Rinehart was very impressive at the Senior Bowl and has good strength. He's able to pull and moves well for a guy his size. He may have potential to play tackle as well, but has not played against strong competition so he will need some time to develop. He gives the Redskins depth on the offensive line with a chance to grow into a starter.
Round 4, Pick 25 (124) (From Titans) Justin Tryon CB 5'9" 190 Arizona State
Pick Analysis:Tryon has good feet and is able to change direction well. He could be a nickel cornerback. While Tyron is undersized, he's a good fit for Washington's scheme.
Round 6, Pick 2 (168) (From Rams ) Durant Brooks P 6'0" 204 Georgia Tech
Pick Analysis:Brooks was the top-rated punter in the draft. He has a strong leg, averaging 45.1 yards per punt.
Round 6, Pick 14 (180) (From Broncos through Rams) Kareem Moore DB 5'11" 213 Nicholls State
Pick Analysis:Every year there's one guy that comes out of the Southland Conference and Moore may be that guy this year. He worked out extremely well at his pro day and has strong measurables. He's a safety who runs well and will help fill a void for the Redskins. He is a special teams demon.
Round 6, Pick 20 (186) Colt Brennan QB 6'3" 205 Hawaii
Pick Analysis:Brennan saw his stock fall after a disappointing combine performance and is small at quarterback given the prototypical size at the position in the NFL. Was prolific in June Jones' run-and-shoot scheme at Hawaii, but needs to prove he is not a system quarterback. Lacks arm strength, but has moxie and toughness.
Round 7, Pick 35 (242) (Compensatory selection) Rob Jackson DE 6'4" 259 Kansas State
Pick Analysis:Jackson is a good pass rusher with limited run-stopping abilities. He has decent speed and burst from the outside and a good value this late in the draft.
Round 7, Pick 42 (249) (Compensatory selection) Chris Horton FS 6'0" 212 UCLA
Pick Analysis:Horton is a solid prospect with potential based on his athleticism. He gives the Redskins another safety to add to the roster in an area of need since the death of Sean Taylor and the decision not to re-sign Pierson Prioleau in the offseason.
