Well then, let's get ready to go Around the Arena

We start this game, with the NBA playoffs. The Lakers' Logo listed three times because they've got three victories in their best-of-seven series. Game six is tonight in Los Angeles. Game Five ended in a little bit of controversy (that's gotten a little bigger), and now the Spurs need to not only win three in a row to advance, they have to win two of those games at the Staples Center.
So, here are my questions for our panel of experts:
1) What are your thoughts on the controversy at the end of game five?
2) Is there any reason to believe the Spurs still have a shot?
3) What's the more appealing Finals match-up: Lakers-Celtics (a rehash of the golden years), or Lakers-Pistons (Kobe vs. the team that ended the Kobe-Shaq dynasty)?
Let's go Around the Arena and find out ...

As far as the controversy in game 4 is concerned, I don't see one. Barry and Poppovich both said it wasn't a foul. So as far as I'm concerned... who gives a ****?
Spurs just lost the series... so I think their shot at winning it is slim to none.
Obviously Lakers-Celtics. No one wants to see the boring ass Pistons in the Finals. And come on now, it wouldn't be Kobe vs. the team that ended the Kobe-Shaq dynasty. Because that team isn't the Pistons, that team is the Lakers.
KG, Pierce and Allen going for their first championship against Kobe solidifying his position as the best player in the NBA is much more intriguing to me. It's got nothing to do with Lakers-Celtics for me...

1. People are always saying, "officials shouldn't be deciding games," and finally one doesn't and people yell about the non call on the foul. This is why I fell bad for officials sometimes. They're damned if they do, damned if they don't. Plus, Reggie Miller pointed it out in the game 4 post game, Barry's got to sell that foul if he wants to get it called. Once Fisher leaves his feet, if Barry drives into him, its probably a call, but instead, he backed away, and tried to dribble around him. You've got to sell the foul. You're Brent Barry, you're not a superstar who's going to get he benefit of the doubt on calls.
2. Yeah, at this point, I think it safe to say that the Spurs are probably done. The Lakers just looked like a better team in the series. I think it was over Game 1, that 20 point comeback was damned impressive, and if you're the Spurs, its hard to come back from that.
3. I go with Lakers-Celtics for the much the same reason. The NBA has had two big story lines this year. The resurgence of Kobe and Can the Celtics Win it all with the Boston Three Party. The Lakers-Celtics series would be a culmination of all that, it would be an excellent finale to what has been a pretty good NBA season.

1.) I don't really see a big deal here. I have not always been a big basketball fan, only recently returning to watching it. In the short amount of games that I've watched, and with my limited knowledge of fouls and what not, I've seen many fouls that should have been called but were not. It happens a lot. In fact, the opposite happens a lot as well. If this wasn't a big game like this, I don't think anyone would have really made a big deal about it. Also, according to those two links, the Spurs did not much care about it. The head coach and Duncan were both quoted as saying that it was a wise call.
If things like that are going to be brought up, then why not implement a sort of challenging system like in football? I would say no, because I think that would only cause problems and too much hassle. But, if it's going to be a problem with no-calls and what not, then why not implement something like that.
2.) If I had commented before tonights game, I would have said yes. There is always a chance, in my opinion, for a team to come back and win when they are facing a deficit. It's all up to how hard they want to play, and how bad they want it. I truly believe anything is possible if they work hard enough. I did not watch it tonight, but I did see that the Lakers won, so it was apparent that the Lakers wanted it more, and will move forward into the championships.
3.) I am going to have to agree with the other two. However, I am going to for opposite reasons. I am not that old and knowledgeable in bball history (unless it's MJ and the Bulls ) so, I don't know about the Boston versus the Lakers back in the day, but it would be cool to have them get their revenge on the Celtics. Also, I am just more interested in the Celtics than the Pistons. Besides, since the Celtics beat the Cavs, I wouldn't want them to get beaten out now without going all the way, that'd just look bad on the Cavs.
Though, a Lakers/Pistons championship game could be interesting as well. It would be nice to see the Lakers get revenge on the Pistons for stopping their attempt to win last time.

As far as the controversy in game 4, there isnt one. Barry and Poppovich both said it wasn't a foul. So it really dosent matter anymore
Spurs just lost the series
Lakers-Celtics. No one wants to see the Pistons in the Finals. The Lakers Celtics is the most intrguing matchup by far. The player matchups are the most entertaining with Kobe vs the Boston Threeparty

So, wait, let me get this straight. The league comes out and says a foul should have been called, and yet all four of you sit here and tell me there was no foul, and they got it right? Is that what I'm hearing?

Go back and read my post, I never said that there wasn't a foul. I directly addressed the controversy and said that if Barry and Poppovich don't care, then neither do I.

There was a foul, the question is whether it should have been called. No, it should not have been called.
