EDIT: BTW, no need to bring this up now, but I had just noticed it. In 2003, 2004 and 2006, Pujols finished in the top 5 of all triple crown categories. This guy is the best player in the game today. **** A-Rod. When was the last time any player had at least 3 years finishing top 5 in every triple crown category?!
Vlad Guerrero in 2000, 2002, and 2004. Though I agree it's awesome.

Yeah, if any other recent player had a chance at it, it was Vlad. His powers gone down a bit, but it was never really enough to get a home run title anyway. 44 I think was his best year and he hasn't hit 40 since.

I'd buy this. They're either going to completely fall apart or wake up and pull it together. I just don't think the top seed is going to continually drop the ball, especially after two straight series to seven. Maybe they don't win the series, but I think they have enough in them to slap themselves and try to prove they can win at least one on the road. Then again, all they really need to do is win at home, so maybe they won't try as hard on the road. I think it's more likely to happen if they lose an early game at home, and that seems possible.

I'm going to SELL. Boston's been pitiful on the road and I believe that the so - called Best Team is going to choke in the Eastern Confrence finals. Same with the Lakers against the Spurs.

So I'll be laughing my butt off when David Stern's worst nightmare about a low - rated Pistons/Spurs Finals comes true. He might be so angry he folds the league thinking he cannot win and the Spurs will always be in the finals. devil

Juliet: 3
EF: 2

Sticking with the NBA for a moment ...

The Chicago Bulls were the big winner at the NBA Draft Lottery last night. Maximizing their 1.7% chance, they took home the first pick in the draft. Not a bad consolation prize for a team many thought at the start of the year would be looking at life in the Finals or life with Kobe Bryant.

So, our panel of experts, who are you buying as the Bulls pick here?

Let's go Around the Arena and find out ...

I'm buying Derrick Rose. They don't need to improve as much on defense as they do on offense(lucky for them the top prospects are offensive), and PG is one of the areas that doesn't have much depth at all. Rose brings natural leadership to a very young team, and having a leading PG is a nice, ask the Hornets. They like that, and they like that he's from Chicago. Beasley is a better scorer, but if you stick with the top pick you need more things going for it than just scoring.

EF says the Bulls need offense more then defense, then says Beasley is the better scorer... but still goes with Derrick Rose. hmmmm

I'm buying Beasley, because that's exactly what the Bulls need. Scoring. Rose will be a good NBA player but Beasley is gonna be a great NBA player for many years.

Yes, because one great scorer does not make up for someone who can make an entire team great.

I went to a Hornets game this year. Chris Paul scored something like 2 points, but had about 18 assists or something crazy like that. I can't really remember. Anyway, the point is, it's easier to defend against one great scorer than against someone who doesn't score as much, but makes his team better overall.

I'm going to sell. Even if they get Beasely or Rose, A) they don't have a coach, so who will be in charge of making that pick? The same incompetent management that fired their last coach on Christmas Eve (Still one of the most heartless move I've ever seen by a pro team BTW)? B) Look at what happened when Portland got the pick last year and thought THEY were the team to beat. Their star pick ended up injuring himself and being out the entire year.

Ultimately I buy them getting Rose as he's been the more publicized player despite the fact that Beasely is an all - american.

Seems to me having the #1 pick is more of a curse than a blessing.

Please tell me the next topic is Jason Taylor/Dolphins. I've got more than a few cents on this matter.

These are the choices that the Bulls now have with the number 1 selection:

1) Grab Beasley with his 26.2 PPG average and NCAA best 12.4 rebounds per game.

or

2) Grab Rose because he was the point guard who carried Memphis all the way to the National Championship game and within minutes of the national title.

or

3) Trade the pick away and get as much as they can get for the pick.

or

4) Do something incompetent since they are a team without a coach. They have to besides hiring a coach, make contract offers to restricted free agents Luol Deng and Ben Gordon.

"As I sit here tonight, what I think is again you've got two players who are different and unique," Paxson said. "One is point guard. The point guard is a natural leadership position on a team. It's something every team covets. And the other ... just has the unique ability to put the ball in the basket, just will be a go-to scorer.

"I'm certainly not going to throw myself into this thing and do something quickly."

So, I think that they will select Beasley. They cannot pass up this kind of a scorer and rebounder.

Time to score the arguments once again ...

EF: +2 (they do need leadership ... but can they get it from a rook?)
A_J: +3 (great point and playing off of EF ... good job)
Juliet: +2 (great point on a cautionary tale)
RX: +2 (good information)

Scoreboard

This round:

A_J: 3
EF: 2
Juliet: 2
RX: 2

Overall:

Armenian_Jedi: 17
EmpireForever: 16
Juliet316: 16
RX_Sith: 16

And we've got one more buy-or-sell left. Someone gets banned after this question, and with a race this tight it could be anyone. Make sure for tie-breaking purposes you indicate to me if you're wearing a tie when you post your answer. wink

Let's go Around the Arena and find out ...
