I've never understood why people in the first place were annoyed by Jar Jar. He just temporarily overtook C3PO's humourous role, and I haven't heard about anyone complaining about C3PO. I don't want to be rude, but I think that some people just don't want to accept that Jar Jar has the "funny guy"-role of the PT. Hmmm, although he's almost never on screen in AOTC.. It's just that everything he does is humourous (although he means it to be serious). I have absolutely NO problem with Jar Jar. Sometimes I enjoy myself spending entire days quoting Jar Jar. "LOOKY LOOKY SENATOR!!" Lovely.

First of all, this is my first post to the forums here, so please allow me to say hello.
I have never enjoyed Jar Jar and felt him to be too goofy for Star Wars. Yes, as someone pointed out, he temporarily took the comic-relief role in the absence of C3PO. 3PO's humor, however, was witty and played upon the dry British sense of humor, not the childishness of Mr. Binks.
For me, he completely ruined TPM. Well, Jar Jar and stunted acting combined with some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard in my life.

Now on topic. I never hated Jar Jar, he was annoying sometimes but who isn't, I actually thought he was kind of cute.

I've always like TPM and Jar Jar. everytime i saw the film in theatre people laughed. the same guys that hate him so much stil love the three stooges and road runner cartoons, and that's what jar jar is. Slapstick humor.

I like Jar-Jar and think he's the funniest character in the PT. I don't see why everyone bashes him so much.

I guess I never understood the criticism of Jar Jar. I always thought - wow, here is arguably the first CGI character that has a starring role in a major motion picture right beside real people! He evokes strong likes and dislikes in the audience as if he was real. This should be enough to justify having him around. Sure he is annoying, but as a character not as a selfconscious cgi screw up. Maybe he should be judged by a different standard? He seems to always be judged against Jake Lloyd who is just as annoying. He sure beats the first attempt to cgi Jabba into ANH.

Yeah, it IS the reason the empire was created! The CGI failures messed it up! It's not li'l Ani or Qui-Gonn's fault! It's cuz JarJar stalled the 2 jedi on Naboo! They would've failed their mission to Theed. Then they would be transported to Coruscant to make plans to stop the Federation and the Sith. Naboo would be out of the scene, the ship would'nt have broken down and they'd never have stop on Tatooine and never meet Anakin.

I think he underated. Not incredibly but he isn't the WORST. I actuly like gungans. Jar Jar is my least fav gungan.

I don't hate Jar Jar. I don't hate Jake Loydd's acting either. I actually know kids like his Anakin.(However they do "annoy" me) I always simulate putting a force choke on them.

Sorry, but I had the opposite reaction to Jar-Jar. I didn't mind him the first time that I watched TPM. I thought he was goofy and hard to understand, and that was about it.
But I recently had a Star Wars marathon, and revisited TPM for the first time since probably 2000. I found that I liked it even more than I did the first time, from the escape to Naboo to the podrace to the Gungans vs the Droids to the "dual of the fates."
However, one thing I did not enjoy was Jar-Jar. From the moment he appeared, I was alternately rolling my eyes or stirring in my seat. I didn't like the overt CGI-ness of the character, the squeaky voice, the bizarre accent or the fart jokes. It's alright if you guys find him funny, but I found him insufferable. Worse, it wasn't even a product of him being a Gungan. I thought the Gungans were a pretty neat race. Jar-Jar was just.. well.. stupid.
I guess Jar-Jar makes me think of parallel moments from the "Empire of Dreams" and "The Taming of Smeagol" (both extras from their respective DVDs). When Peter Jackson (referring to Smeagol, of course) and George Lucas (referring to Yoda), were talking about how their respective creations were brought to life (I know Peter Jackson didn't create Smeagol, but I digress), they both said that the characters absolutely *had* to work or they would bring the whole movie down with them. Thankfully, Smeagol and Yoda *did* work, and they greatly enhanced their respective pictures.
I don't think Jar-Jar worked, and TPM suffered for it.

I never hated Jar Jar, nor did I ever understand the hatred for him. I just saw him as an intentionally annoying character, and in movies just like in real life, there are annoying characters. I mean, he was funny at times, and didn't detract from the film, so I never saw the big deal. TPM isn't about Jar Jar. I never really understood why some people couldn't get over it. But that's just me...
Most people actually do like TPM, by the way, it's just that it's the popular thing now to say you don't like it even if you haven't seen it in 5 years and the last time you saw it, you said to everyone you liked it. Haha.
