Oh, love the interactions. Leia so worried about Luke and Han as jealous as ever. She has a right to be worried. I wonder what Ben has to say to Luke....
Great job.

He hadn’t seemed any edgier than usual, but Luke was so difficult to read. He kept himself closed so tight in every word, every gesture.
Oh, Luke needs a hug. I feel so sorry for him. Looking forward to his meeting with 'the old man.'

It was on her fifteenth day in the darkness of the Nirauan cave when Mara Jade awoke to discover a rescuer had finally arrived. It was not, however, any of the potential rescuers she would have expected. It was Luke. ~~And the rest is history~~

Great post, even though I want to hit Leia and Han upside the head for both being so stubborn. But then, that's them isn't it?

Jesina: Well, you said you liked my action stuff...if you want any help, or a sounding board or anything... let me know.
I do like your action stuff... and thanks. I'll definitely keep the offer in mind.
And don't worry about it being character over plot...wait til you see the next story I have in the works...I'm going to have all of, I think, four readers on that one.
Four readers...? I'll be one, because it sounds interesting. I like character!
Anyway, character is a good thing if you do it well (and you DO), and think how many movies/books are written that are completely absent action...
That's a point. There will be some action later on in this, it just takes a while to get there. Long build-up, I guess you'd say. Thanks!
Sounds like LOVE to me....
Oh, so true...
Looking forward to the Luke and Ben post...and I have no idea what he wants to talk to him about...
You'll see.
Jedi_BMK: Now Han's just trying to set Leia off.
Uh-huh. *shakes finger* Naughty Han. And as for the next post... is tomorrow soon enough? Hope so, 'cause that's when it's going up.
RebelMom: Let's hope Leia and Han stop fighting - no that can't happen, then I'd be worried.
Good point.
ZaraValinor: Every time I red this I want to cry for Luke. It's just too sad.
Oh, dear... and this is only the beginning. I do tend to torture the poor guy. *sends hugs to Luke*
dianethx: Leia so worried about Luke and Han as jealous as ever. She has a right to be worried.
What makes you think that?
Jedi-2B: Looking forward to his meeting with 'the old man.'
Should be interesting indeed... But don't expect him to get a hug there.
RedGold: OUCH! You bit me! That hurt! Good post though.
Did I? Oh, sorry. *note to self: Don't bite readers* And thanks.
GreatOne: Great post, even though I want to hit Leia and Han upside the head for both being so stubborn.
Strange, how often they evoke that emotion...
Poor Rebel that died on the Death Star! - A true hero, never to be remembered for his sacrifice.
*bows head* Moment's silence... It wasn't easy being a Rebel. Spy or not...
Senator_Leia73: Poor Han when will Leia tell him?! AHHH! Frustrastion!
Heh. Just the response I'm after.
Will we see more of Luke/Mara? Please
Um.... *mentally reviewing posts to come* Kind of... Mara is very important to Luke, though we don't necessarily see a lot of her. You'll see what I mean.
The next post will be up tomorrow, in case anyone's wondering.

Mirax-Jade: Thank you!
Sithspawn: The suspense is killing me... *eagerly awaiting the next chapter*
Guess I'd better put it up right away then...
Ben Kenobi met his former charge in a dingy cantina on the Outer Rim, three months after the destruction of the Death Star. Ben lowered his hood as he entered, looking around the room. Shapes loomed in the shadows, the low lighting keeping faces obscured. It was not dissimilar to the cantina on Tatooine in which he had arranged to meet Chewbacca almost a year ago.
He made his way to the back of the bar; found a relatively secluded booth that had a good view of the room. He sat down. A server-droid passed, and Ben placed an order for two nondescript drinks. Then he waited. After a few minutes, Ben felt a stirring in the Force that was unmistakeable and looked up to see a dark-clad figure step into the room. His hood was raised, obscuring his face, but Ben knew that wary tautness instantly. He watched as the figure stepped through the huddled denizens of the bar, noting how even the most hardened pull back as he passed, sensing the vague menace in the cloaked figure.
How his boy had changed. Luke had always been a serious child, but his heart had been good. And still is, Ben reminded himself.
Luke slid into the booth opposite him, making no move to lower the hood. Ben glimpsed pale features, dull blue eyes. Luke lifted a gloved hand, reaching inside his cloak to withdraw a small data-chip. He placed it on the table between them. “Information for Leia,” he said, his voice very low. “Imperial troop movements. Some information on the second Death Star – what I could gather. Not a lot.”
Ben reached and took the chip, slipping it into a pouch inside his sleeve. Luke leaned forward, but the serving-droid chose that moment to return with the drinks. Luke leaned back, glancing at the droid as it set the bright orange drinks on the table. Ben slid credits wordlessly across the table, and the droid scooped them up and moved on. Luke lifted the drink and peered through the smeared glass suspiciously, then set it down again.
Ben sipped his drink.
Luke glared at him. “What do you want?”
Ben set his drink down carefully. “You haven’t been to Dagobah.”
Luke grimaced. “I don’t have time.”
“You must go, Luke.” Ben dropped his voice, let it become urgent. “You must.”
Luke shook his head, looking away. “I’ve had all the Force training I can stomach,” he said. “Thanks.”
Ben frowned. “This isn’t about Force training, Luke.” He leaned in. “Look at me.”
Reluctantly, the young man did so. The hood had slipped back at little, and Ben could see how pale Luke was. How very weary those blue eyes were.
What are you doing to this boy, Anakin? What have you done?
“You must see Yoda,” Ben said quietly. “You must, Luke. It is vitally important. And his time in this world is rapidly slipping away.” He paused a beat as Luke looked at him flatly, and said, “Promise me you’ll see him, Luke. Promise me you’ll go there. Soon.”
Luke turned his head away, lowered his chin, then turned back. He met Ben’s eyes, and said, “Fine.” He opened a black-gloved hand. “You have my word, old man. I’ll see your Yoda.”
“Good.” Ben sat back, reassured. Luke’s word was a dependable thing; Ben had raised him on a diet of honour and principle. Such things did not die easily.
Though they had taking a telling blow, and were yet recovering.
Ben sipped his drink again. Surprisingly, the flavour was not overly unpleasant. Luke had yet to touch his drink. Ben watched Luke rotate his glass in place absently as he surveyed the room. Ben cleared his throat softly, and Luke cut his gaze back to him.
Ben reached inside his cloak, withdrew something long and silver. He set it on the table and looked up to meet Luke’s stunned gaze. “This belongs to you,” Ben said softly, and pushed the lightsaber across the table to Luke.
Luke stared down at the weapon that had once been his father’s. He touched it with gloved fingers, his expression melting from its token flatness, softening and becoming younger. But it closed again, and Luke drew back, shaking his head. “No,” he said, and pushed the lightsaber back to Ben. “Not mine. I told you, I squandered the right to wear it years ago.”
“You’ve earned it back,” Ben said, gently pushing the weapon toward Luke. “Take it.”
Luke’s eyes lifted to his, and Ben saw the sudden vulnerability there, in Luke’s surprise. Luke’s fingers closed around the gleaming silver hilt, his eyes never leaving Ben’s. “Thank you,” he said, very quietly.
Ben inclined his head, and Luke slipped the lightsaber into his dark cloak. The young man left soon after, pulling his hood down over his eyes and giving Ben his love, to pass on to his sister. “Take care, my boy,” Ben had bid him as he rose.
Luke hesitated, then said, “You too, Ben.” He’d inclined his head, and turned into the crowd of beings around the bar. They parted around him; he reached the door, and was gone.
Ben picked his drink up again, staring after the boy pensively. That hilt brought great risk to him: Vader would recognise it instantly, were he to see it. But Ben had fancied that it would be more than worth the risk, and knew from the expression on Luke’s face as he’d taken the lightsaber that he was right. That lightsaber meant a lot to Luke; it was far more than just a weapon, in his mind.
Ben smiled fondly to himself. All that bitterness, all that pain. And Luke was still the boy that Ben had raised, through those desolate years on Tatooine. Ben took pride in that – the pride of a creator over a creation that worked particularly well. That did as it was intended. For that was what the boy was, and to claim anything else would be to speak a lie. Oh, Ben was fond of Luke, very fond. He’d become something like a son: almost, but never quite. That was a luxury neither of them could afford, in this galaxy. Ben had never for a moment allowed himself to forget what Luke was, and what he was to be.
Ben Kenobi was honest, if nothing else. And though he despised himself for the part he’d had in turning a once-joyful child into such a bitter youth, he could not regret it.
He did what he had to, and always would.
It was Ben Kenobi’s curse.
Do I need to hide? Remember this is Ben's POV and that not everything he tells himself is necessarily true...

Giving Luke back his father's lightsaber and sending off to see Yoda. So many ways this could just blow up in their faces.
Nicely done little conversation between those two. Can't wait for more.

Oh, I really liked the dynamics of the two. Luke hesitating before taking the saber. Ben begging Luke to go see Yoda before it was too late. Ben thinking that he was raising a weapon instead of a boy - perhaps he was, perhaps not but it was a lovely post.
Looking forward to seeing what Yoda has to say to Luke. And if Vader is going to find out...

Terrific update!
The tension is still there, that much is sure, but...it seems like Luke is a little calmer...and Ben less resigned.
As usual, your insights are wonderful.
