	NYCitygurl: I'll have to check on Jes's Pain, but I think that most guys are under your protection. lol! Yeah, yeah, doesn't mean I dont roughen them up a bit.... _JM_: Good for Hal. Button pushing is very useful (and even that amount of TK push could do nasty things to tiny blood vessels in people’s heads, or nasty things to delicate microcircuitry in locks or droids). lol! Good point! So he has reason for his strange pride, at least. Liked Hal realising what Corran’s problem was. Thanks Agree that mind manipulation is close to Dark Side, as well as so very useful for politicians. Yes, thanks Liked Hal’s discretion in letting his son sink further under the spell of the “rather lovely brunette” without interruption. Loved the “Amazing...she’s pretty!” as that could be taken by Booster as saying he was too ugly to have a pretty daughter or as the same insult towards Mirax’s mother...neither of which is good. lol! Yes! Though I am quite certain he meant Booster was... Glad that Hal also decided to show discretion in letting Corran make his own mistakes. Thanks Has to let him be an adult. Liked that Luke is so attuned and strong in the Force that even asleep he can sense Hal’s gentle brush with the Force and realise he is being looked at by a Jedi. Felt sorry for Hal trying to figure out what Luke is talking about and how best to respond, he wants to ease Luke’s pain but he doesn’t know what has caused it or what Luke knows so he has to be very careful. Thank you Tough little scene to write there, but Lukie should be a little more lucid next time. Hoping to post uh about early in the morning Wednesday. 	Here's the start of it Chapter Eight I left Luke's room, deeply disturbed. He could have hurt his hand in many different ways, but I suspected Darth Vader. Only a dark Lord of the Sith would be able to instill the kind of distrust Luke suddenly had for Kenobi, and any other Jedi that would come along. At least for the moment, I couldn't think of any other reason why. The thought of it made me sick, and I wandered out of the infirmary, barely aware of where I was going. With Corran, I had always tried to raise him as to not necessarily follow in my footsteps, but to rise above them. The thought of the Dark Lord attempting to bring his son down to his level disgusted me almost as much as hurting him. Letting out a long breath, I realized I was conjecturing, and tried to set my thoughts on a different course. Such as finding my own son, Corran. Apparently, I was more upset than I was allowing myself to realize, because he found me first, just outside the infirmary. He frowned slightly. "Everything okay?" I nodded, placing my hand on his shoulder. "Do you have a moment?" "Yeah," Corran said, studying me carefully, his deep green eyes calculating. He's a rather good mixture of both my father and his mother, having my father's eyes and mouth, with, much to his chagrin, his mother's height and slender build. My son is, in effect, symbolic of everything I have lost and everything I have gained. The look he was giving me now, the set of his jaw and steady gaze reminded me so much of my father it caused a slight pang in my heart, and I looked away. "There's something we need to discuss concerning your training," I said softly. "All right," Corran said, still watching me even as he fell into step just behind me on the left. I couldn't help but smile slightly at this, because he had unknowingly taken an apprentice's position behind me. Since he was born, he has had a very slight Force bond to me, but it was not one I allowed to grow too strongly for fear of its discovery. Now that I had started training him to be a Jedi, I was going to need to reinforce it, so that when he went on his missions with Rogue Squadron I'd know whether he lived or died, or was staying in the light. Also, it would help us work far better as a team. I wasn't certain how open he was going to be with this concept. As soon as we reached my room, I closed the door behind us and gestured for him to take a seat. "Corran, I've been thinking about the runs you're going to have to be making with Rogue Squadron." Corran nodded. "What about them?" "Traditionally, a Jedi Master and his apprentice have always had a training bond. Through it, we'd always be aware of each other. No matter how far you went, I'd be able to tell that you were still alive and well. And the same goes for you." "Sounds good," Corran said, pursing his lips and thinking for a moment. "What about when we're close to each other?" I folded my arms, considering his question. "Strong emotions will always come across the bond, such as love, or anger, fear...also, if you concentrate, whatever it is you are doing to evoke them," I explained, then noticed the growing look of horror on his face. "What?" Corran coughed. "There's some things I'd rather you not know." I raised an eyebrow, amused, and he colored slightly. I cleared my throat. "There are certainly things I don't need to know. That is where shielding and blocks come in, and you're more than welcome to block me at any time." "Good," Corran said, looking so relieved I wondered if I should be a little more worried about his budding relationship with Mirax. "There's more." Corran looked at me warily. "What?" "Bonds make telepathy possible," I answered carefully. "But it is to be used only with discretion. If, at any time, your mouth would work just as well, use it instead." "Okay," Corran said, then tilted his head. "Does that mean you could read my thoughts?" "Only if you broadcast them to me, Corran," I replied slowly. "It is possible, but I would never do that to you. It would be possible for you to read mine as well, but I trust you not to do that either." Corran nodded, then gave me a small smile. "Never in my life did I think I'd ever have to learn to think quietly." I laughed softly. "I know this is weird for you, Corran." I took a deep breath. "Do you want to do it?" "Yes," Corran answered after a moment. "What do I need to do?" "Just relax and clear your mind," I answered, and waited for him to do it. Where before he was insistent on asking me what to do next, he merely patiently awaited my next instruction now. "Now open yourself to me." As soon as I could sense him do this, I touched my fingers to his temples and reached out with the Force to find our natural bond. I brushed it gently, and began sending the Force into it. Where it had been basically a small thread before, it started to brighten through my encouragement, and I gained a greater awareness of my son in the Force. "Now touch back." Corran reached out somewhat hesitantly, his touch almost gingerly on my mind, but it grew stronger as he became more sure of himself. As soon as he brushed the right part, the bond was complete. He blinked, and ran his hand through his hair. "Why are you so worried?" Blast. "I'm concerned for your friend, Luke," I answered carefully. "I visited him just now, and he seems pretty hurt." He nodded. "He isn't talking about it." He touched my arm. "But Luke's very resilient, and he's one of the best men I know. He'll be fine." "Glad to hear it," I said softly, and then posed a question of my own. "And what is it you've been wanting to tell me?" Corran looked a little surprised, but recovered quickly. "While you were in isolation, the Rogues were assigned to a medical supply mission just outside of Rlorn. It should only take a few days, but I have to leave in the morning." The mission sounded innocent enough, and I trusted Corran enough now to be on his own for a couple days. But for some reason this news formed a lump in my stomach, and I was a moment in answering him. 	Not sure if Hal is placing the blame entirely correctly, wasn’t Lord Vader’s fault that the truth hurt Luke even more than his lightsaber. However Luke had learned of the truth it would still have instilled distrust of those who had manipulated the facts. Liked Hal’s contempt for Vader. Loved Corran’s reaction to the idea of his Dad being able to ‘listen’ to what he was feeling, and Hal’s calm pointing out that he certainly didn’t want to hear his son all the time. Poor Hal though, he was worried for Corran and forgot in his concern that it would work both ways and that Corran would be able to ‘hear’ his father’s concern. Hopefully Luke will be able to see Hal as “Corran’s Dad” and therefore “nice guy” rather than as “Jedi” and therefore “lying manipulator” so that Hal can help Luke through things a little, assuming that is that Hal gets the chance. -----signature----- Seeming unable to just say "Nice post, I enjoyed it" Sometimes amazed at how "I'll reply tomorrow" becomes "I should have replied last week" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Return of a Jedi. http://boards.theforce.net/the_saga/b10476/23421597

	I'm kinda surprised that, since he knows who Vader really is, he didn't figure out what was wrong, exactly, with Luke....but I'm sure he'll find out eventually. X-wing action coming soon?
