	Disclaimer: I own nothing! It’s all George Lucas' world; I’m just hanging out for a while. Sue me and get nothing. I’m in charity work aka nearly broke. Author Note: Some spoilers for ROTS, so go no further if you don’t want to be spoiled. Got it? Title: Dreaming of their Future Characters: Anakin and Padme Type: Vignette Era: ROTS Genre: Romance/Humor Summary: It’s mushy Author: JD. Feedback: Want it, need it, crave it- clear enough? Dreaming of their Future “Luke Skywalker,” Padme sighed dreamily as she leaned back against her husband’s chest. “I like it, Ani. Luke Skywalker, son of Senator Padme Naberrie Amidala Skywalker and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Yes, it’s perfect,” the mother-to-be concluded with a smile. His face hidden from her view, Anakin quirked a blond eyebrow at his wife’s musings. “Not to be difficult, Milady, but I’m afraid I must correct you on two important points,” Anakin began with mock-seriousness. “Oh? And what would they be, Master Jedi?” Padme asked, turning her head so she could look into Anakin’s eyes. “First, Senator, it’s going to be Leia Amidala Skywalker.” “And you know this because of your finely tuned mother’s intuition?” Padme challenged teasingly. Anakin slid his live hand down to Padme’s swollen belly just in time to receive a sharp kick from his unborn child. “With a kick like that, it has to be a girl,” he reasoned logically. “A point that, unless I’m mistaken, I’ve already made.” Padme tapped her chin with one finger. “Ah yes, now that you mention it, I do remember you rambling on about something like that previously. However, as mother’s intuition is renowned for its accuracy, I figured you were just teasing,” she smiled mischievously up at Anakin.” Anakin scowled playfully down at the woman in his arms, but did not retort. “Do continue,” Padme urged. “The second point of contention, Milady, has to do with the rightful title belonging to this little girl’s father.” “I see. And how will young Luke’s father be known, exactly?” Padme parried. Anakin allowed a brief chuckle before continuing. “Jedi Master and leading member of the Jedi Council Anakin Skywalker, of course.” “My, my, don’t we think a lot of ourselves,” Padme teased. “Someone has to,” Anakin groaned. Padme looked sharply at her husband, her eyes both pleading and demanding all at once. “I’m sorry, Angel.” He placed a kiss on the top of her head. “I didn’t mean to spoil the moment like that,” he added sincerely. “You didn’t,” she assured him. “But no more talk of such things tonight, all right?” “You have my solemn vow, Milady.” “Good,” she smiled. The Skywalkers grew quiet for a few minutes, a comfortable silence surrounding them. Padme closed her eyes, her head resting against Anakin’s bare chest, and the sound of his heart thumping in her ear. Anakin smiled, his chin resting on top of Padme’s head lightly, and his live hand intertwined with one of hers on her belly. “We’re going to need a house, a place of our own,” Anakin stated, finally breaking the silence. “Children deserve to have someplace to call home.” “I hadn’t really thought about it,” Padme admitted. “There have been so many other concerns...” She trailed off abruptly, her face clouding with emotion. “I’m sorry,” she apologized softly. “Don’t be,” Anakin’s tone was firm. “It’s nothing,” he added dismissively. “But getting back to the matter at hand...” “You’re right, Ani, we are going to need a place of our own,” Padme interrupted. “Maybe you could build it?” Padme’s eyes sparkled at the thought of a home built by her ever so capable husband. “No pressure though,” Anakin joked. “My father was an architect, Ani,” she reminded him. “I’m sure he would be happy to help.” Anakin grinned broadly at the prospect raised by his wife. He had to admit, the idea held a great deal of appeal to him. “I’d like that, Padme. I’d like that very much.” He kissed the side of her neck, tears welling in his ice-blue eyes. “I think my dad would also. He still talks about my Jedi protector from time to time. You made quite an impression,” Padme remarked proudly. “Do you think they’ll be upset?” Anakin sobered. “I mean, we’ve kept so much from them, and...” “I worry about that a lot, but I really shouldn’t. My family isn’t the type to hold a grudge, especially over something that’s good for their children. And you, Anakin Skywalker, are good for me.” Anakin bent down and kissed Padme passionately. “I don’t deserve you,” he breathed as he pulled back from the kiss. “I’m sure Palo would agree,” Padme joked, hoping to prevent Anakin’s insecurities from taking control of him. “Force forbid I’d should disagree with he of the dreamy eyes,” Anakin said dramatically. Padme giggled. “I’m so glad you see things my way, Ani.” “Why you!” Anakin began to tickle Padme mercilessly, his various concerns and fears melting away. “No, Ani! Stop!” Padme squealed, unable to escape her husband’s embrace. As the Skywalkers dissolved into a fit of laughter, their worries faded from their minds. At least for now, the small family was happy and content. Though darkness loomed on the horizon, it was nowhere to be found at the moment. The future was sure to bring great challenges to all who bore the name Skywalker, but for the time being, love truly did conquer all. THE END. 	A very realistic view, in my opinion. I loved it. You can definitely see them both talking like that somewhere in ROTS. It's a nice view of what happens between all the action. I like the way they interacted with each other and the way you built in Anakin's tension as well, with the titles thing. And Anakin building a house...I could see that. I bet you're right, Ruwee would probably be thrilled to help him build a house for heir family. This was such a nice little fic. As I know G.L often cuts out many of the quieter moments in his movies, it’s fun to write these little missing moments. Good to know it came through as realistic, as that was my hope when I wrote it. I’m also pleased that Anakin’s tension was clear, as I’m certain it clouded even his happiest moments. This was such a nice little fic. Thanks a lot for writing it. Thanks for reviewing it! 	I loved it, JD! I was so excited when the banter between them regarding it being a girl or a boy leaked out. It was especially cute that Anakin was so sure it was a girl and Padme's "motherly intuition" forsaw a boy. That was one spoiler that was actually very sweet. 	Arriss: I'm glad you liked that bit. I’ve always wondered why Anakin didn’t sense that there were twins in Padmé’s womb. Unless he held off for both of them because they wanted to be surprised… As the spoilers indicate that they didn't want to know if it was a boy or girl, I doubt Anakin looked too closely for fear of spoiling the surprise. Although, if Anakin had really thought about the fact that both of them were dead sure of the gender, he might have figured it out without using the Force consciously.
