Poor Vader, beaten and humiliated twice... I wonder what his punishment will be, wether it comes from the Emperor or from Anakin.

Okay, sorry about the length this update is and the amount of time it took me to get this up.

Mara gingerly stepped into the garden that she and Sara had been using as a training ground. She watched her feet, making sure to stay on the cobblestone. She rolled her feet so she didn't make a single noise. Mara cloaked herself in the Force, hiding her presence. She moved into the grove of trees to hide her body as well as her presence. She crept closer to the center of the garden, still keeping her own senses attuned, hoping to pick up the smallest trace of something or someone. Then without warning, she felt a hand wrap around her neck and then she was thrown backward. Mara shook her head as she regained her equilibrium and she realized quickly that she was on her back and someone's foot was on her throat. She looked up to see Sara standing over her, a bemused expression on her face. "Well, I thought you'd last a little longer."

"Hmph. Cheater," Mara mumbled. Sara gripped Mara's forearm and hauled her to her feet. "I'll get you next time, you can be sure of that."

"I hope so. You have to surpass me Mara. We both know the Emperor's moods can be a little erratic. If I should fall...he will intend you to replace me. And I don't want you to fall prey to his...eccentricities," Sara said. She strolled to the center of the garden and sat cross legged on one of the stones above a pool of water. Mara walked over behind her, seeming to flow through the Force like a river. Stone smiled softly. Her adopted daughter was as graceful as the best Twi'lek dancer and as deadly as the biggest vaapad from Sarapin. Sara stretched out into the Force and relaxed. She felt Mara, her Master, the returning Lord Vader, the entirety of Coruscant, the outlying systems...

Sara bolted up. "Mara, come with me. Now," she commanded, sweeping out of the room. Mara followed, unsure of what the problem was. Sara led her to the Emperor's throne room. They both waited until the Emperor's throne rotated and he faced them.

"Yes my child?" he said.

Sara bowed and spoke, "Master, we need to go to Adega immediately. I believe Aeon Fothe will be arriving there shortly."

"Aeon Fothe? Are you sure?"

"Yes Master. Undoubtedly," Sara said. She was radiating hatred that caused Mara to step back. At that moment, Lord Vader entered the throne room. Then Sara's hatred receded, but only out of respect for the Emperor's suddenly icy mood.

"Lord Vader. You have a new mission. You will go with Sara and Mara to the Adegan system. Consider this a chance for you to redeem yourself after your failures," Sidious said, his eyes as fiery as the center of the very galaxy itself, his voice arctic.

Vader kneeled and bowed his head. "Yes...my Master."

Whoohooo!!! Here's the update you've been waiting for, and I apologize for the length of time it took!

The Millennium Falcon once again sped through hyperspace. This time, Han had company other than Chewie. One of which he wished he could have more time alone with. But that was rather out of the question with her father on board. Not that Anakin was bad company. Han just wanted to have some time alone with Leia. But with that impossibility, he merely spent as much time with the Skywalkers as he could. Most of it consisted of lectures though, which he knew Leia was taking to heart, but Han didn't care for lessons. He found that out the hard way back when he served the Empire. Then Anakin stood and released a seeker drone inside the recreation room. He closed his eyes and Han watched as he stood, completely motionless, barely even breathing. Then the drone fired a blaster bolt at Anakin's backside. The instant the shot was fired, Anakin had already moved and his lightsaber ignited to meet the blaster bolt. The blast was at low power so it merely dissapated on the blade, thankfully. The drone zipped around behind Anakin again, but the blade caught the blast a millisecond after it left the emitter. Han watched in amazement as the drone sped up, zipping around Anakin and releasing blaster bolts from each of the emitters covering it, and Anakin's blue blade was moving to catch every single one, creating a blur of brilliant blue energy. Han shook his head and was about to comment on the futility of trying to recreate a Jedi Order that had no place anymore when the hyperdrive alert blared. "Looks like we're coming up on the Adegan system. Everyone better strap in," he said, heading to the cockpit.

The mottled sky of hyperspace reverted to starlines as Han disengaged the hyperdrive system. Anakin came into the cockpit, with Luke and Leia in tow. "Well, there it is. One of the few places in the galaxy that still contain crystals suitable for creating lightsabers," Anakin said. He took Chewbacca's customary place beside Han and started working out the best landing area. Chewie, on the other hand, was in the aft areas of the ship, working on one of the many problems that had cropped up in the journey from Tatooine. Luckily, Anakin had been able to help with most of the more pressing malfunctions, so Chewie was finishing up the rest himself. Anakin scanned the surface of Adega and found a suitable landing site near a cave leading into a rather large crystal deposit. "There. Take us down Han." Han rolled his eyes, but remembered that Anakin had spent a good amount of time as a general in the Clone Wars. Giving orders just came naturally to the Jedi Master. Han brought the Falcon in for a somewhat smooth landing. Anakin led Luke and Leia down the ramp and they started for the entrance of the cave. "The two of you must go in alone. You will stretch out to the Force and let it guide you to the crystal you need for your lightsaber. Now..." Anakin stopped midsentence, pulling his weapon to his hand, facing the cave.

"Hey now Skywalker, is that any way to treat an old friend?" called a voice from inside the cave. Aeon Fothe stepped into the sunlight, a shiny new lightsaber in his hand. "So, time for the kids to build their own lightsabers?"

"Right. So what are you doing here?" Anakin asked, still a little wary.

"I had to replace one of my lightsabers. And since you're here, how about you help me break it in? Nothing to extravagent, just a friendly duel," Aeon replied, smiling.

Anakin returned the smile. "Luke, Leia, go on in. I haven't had a good duel in quite a while." The younger Skywalkers gave their father an understanding smile before they entered the cave. Anakin ignited his lightsaber, the blue blade humming with anticipation.

Aeon flicked the switch on his newly crafted lightsaber, which was nearly a hybrid of Anakin and Obi-Wan's lightsabers and it's own sapphire blade flashed into existence, eliciting a grin from its wielder. "Alright Skywalker. Let's do this."

Woohoo, another update!!! I'm gonna shoot for at least two this month, maybe three. Wish me luck guys!

Luke and Leia separated inside the cave and continued into the darkness alone. Luke stretched out to the Force and listened. As he crept further in, he felt a whisper within him. He didn't know, however, that he was being watched. When Jedi build their lightsabers, they enter a trance-like state while they search for the ideal crystal. As such, Luke didn't realize that a shadowy figure was watching him in silent approval. This figure hadn't been there long, and had actually entered from another route. The shadow watched as Luke knelt by a sizable crystal formation and he began to carve part of the crystal away. The shadow then crept away, knowing that time was short. Luke did not even notice that figure leave as he began to construct the housing for his newfound crystal.
**********************************************************************************
Leia, on the other hand, did not have an observer as she strolled through the caverns. Her thoughts, however, were far less singleminded. She was wishing that she could be in Han's arms after she got out of this dank hole in the ground. Realistically, of course, she couldn't do that. It would be more than a little strange to behave that way around her father and brother. So, she decided that the best way to get out of this situation was to hurry up and get her lightsaber crystal. Leia closed her eyes and stretched out, feeling around in the Force. The Force was pulling her right to the crystal that fit with her. She knelt down to it and started to work.
**********************************************************************************
Two blue lightsabers flashed in the air outside the Adegan cave. Anakin and Aeon danced around each other, their blades clashing in a manner that, if one didn't know better, would seem completely planned. Anakin slashed at Aeon's head, but Aeon ducked under the blade and sliced at Skywalker's stomach. Anakin jumped over the attack, somersaulting in mid-air. He landed and spun, his blade barely catching Aeon's attack. They continued dueling, their blades humming in the air. The lightsabers carved a figure eight in the air as the Jedi spun. The weapons hissed in the air, flashing with each collision of energy blades. Anakin attacked with a strong slash and knocked Aeon back. Fothe twirled his saber and jumped. As he descended, he slashed down at Anakin, who sidestepped and pushed out with the Force, sending Aeon tumbling across the ground. Aeon pushed off the ground and landed in a kneeling position, his blade angled away. He glared at Anakin, but not angrily. After all, this was just a game. He sprinted off the ground at slashed at Skywalker, but met only with thin air. He swung his saber behind him just in time to catch Anakin's blade and then he spun, attacking high. Anakin batted the attack away, reversing his grip on his saber and slamming the hilt into Aeon's midsection. It wasn't a hard blow, but it certainly surprised the Shadowknight. In reaction, he shoved Anakin away with the Force, sending the Jedi skidding across the grass. Although the battle seemed intense, anyone could tell that this was just a game between two veteran swordsmen who had not had a decent chance to test their growing skills. However, as with all games, it had a chance to turn deadly serious. And in a flash of lightning across the clearing, it did. Both combatants fell to the ground in pain. Though they quickly regained equilibrium, shock crossed their faces. Before them were two figures draped in darkness. Darth Vader stood there, his arms crossed, a sadistic smile twisting his scarred face. Sara Stone stood at his side, her arm still outstretched from unleashing the first burst of Sith lightning that she had ever summoned. Vader stepped forward, his arms uncrossing, his right hand taking his lightsaber from his belt, his voice thundering across the clearing, "Well Skywalker. Here I was beginning to think we'd never meet again." With that, he ignited his scarlet blade. After fifteen years, the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Chosen One were to meet in battle once more. As Aeon stared, horrified at the visage of the clone of Skywalker, Sara stepped forward as well, drawing her own lightsaber. The end of her conflict with Aeon Fothe was about to begin.

And I wonder who, between Vader and Stone, was watching Luke. And then, why??? Hmmm. Questions.

Wow, it's been a long time since I updated, I had hoped to have one up last month, but it just didn't happen, but here we go, lots of fighting in this one!

Anakin barely got his saber up to block Vader's fierce strike as Sara slashed at Aeon. Vader growled and started to hack at Anakin, who continually blocked. Anakin quickly adpoted a mix of Makashi and Ataro, spinning around Vader who kept attacking with hard swings, trying to break down Anakin's defense. Anakin sidestepped a thrust from the Dark Lord and gripped Vader's wrist and kicked him in the stomach. Vader growled and glared at Skywalker, hating how smooth the Jedi's face was, how his hair had yet to be touched by grey. Anakin stared back at his clone, finally noticing that Vader's face had begun to age as much as Obi-Wan's had, and his temples were streaked with grey hairs, and the burn scars on the left side of the Sith's face were twisted as Vader shouted. A long time ago, Anakin had a vision that showed himself as Vader, and Padmé had insisted that there was still good in him even then. This Vader, however, was completely lost to the Dark Side. He had to be stopped, but even Anakin could sense that now was not the time, and this was not the place. Through the glare of his and Vader's lightsabers, he glimpsed the beginnings of the duel between Aeon and Sara, and he knew that while Adega was a place for endings, it wasn't for him and Vader. This thought bolstered the Jedi Master who then, still grasping Vader's wrist, spun and hurled the Sith Lord over his shoulder, sending Vader flying through the air. He hit a tree and fell to the ground. By the time Vader regained his senses, Anakin was already moving. The Sith rolled as Anakin slashed where his head was, toppling the tree. The tree landed right above Vader and Anakin cut the branches, burying Vader.

Meanwhile, Aeon and Sara's duel was just heating up. Fire and ice whirled against each other in a veritable tornado of energy, flashes lighting up the forest. Slashes, parries, ripostes, and spins accenting each other. Once friends, these two were now the worst of enemies, and Sara's hatred showed in each brutal strike. Aeon focused on her weapon, her shoulders, and her eyes as he continued to bat away her vicious attacks, their weapons blurring as the warriors continued a viper quick deadly dance. No words were necessary. If it came to it, to defend himself and Skywalker and his family, Aeon Fothe would dispatch Sara without remorse, regret, or any feeling. That is the path he walked. He toed the line of the Dark Side and didn't blink. Even when Aeon passed that line where Jedi Knights fear to tread, he stared into the abyss of the Dark Side and saw...nothing. To Aeon Fothe, the difference between himself and the Sith Lady he battled was the fact that she and the Sith saw the abyss of the Dark Side. All he saw was the Force. Aeon Fothe, and now Anakin Skywalker, both called on the entire range of the Force. And at this moment, Fothe had no compunctions about calling on that Force now. He wrapped himself in it, becoming a whirlwind in the Force. And now, Sara was becoming helpless against it. Aeon's saber strikes were becoming increasingly quick and powerful and her defenses were being overwhelmed. It didn't help that Aeon occasionally used the Force to rip up rocks and small trees to use as missiles against her. She spun around several times, knocking those things away, trying to keep Aeon from taking her down.

Suddenly, the tree that was covering Vader burst up, branches flying in every direction as he screamed with rage. But at this point, like Aeon, Anakin had immersed himself fully in the Force, and he withstood the storm of the Sith Lord's rage. Vader slashed at Anakin's neck, but Anakin stepped aside and kicked him in the back. The Sith Lord turned and started hacking at Skywalker, his rage clouding his senses, but Anakin kept batting aside Vader's scarlet blade, the Jedi Master surrounded with the crystal clarity of the Force. Yes, anger and hatred gave the Dark Side its power, but to allow oneself to be consumed by it cut one off from the full powers of the Force. This was a lesson that Dooku knew well, but one that Vader and Stone had yet to learn. This was the thought that went through Anakin's mind as he continued to push Vader's attacks away. He felt no compassion for this whirling storm of rage and anger, only pity. Anakin sidestepped a particularly vicious strike from Vader and butted him in the back of the head with the pommel of his lightsaber. Vader tumbled to the ground, barely turning over so as not to impale himself on his own lightsaber. He turned and saw Anakin raising his left hand, which suddenly flickered with electricity. Vader's eyes widened and he started to have a disturbingly, exceedingly bad feeling about this. Anakin, while never having trained as a Sith, somehow knew just where to draw the power from and he called on it to flow into Vader. However, Vader snapped up his lightsaber and caught the lightning on its blade. Anakin didn't see Vader opening his left hand and then he felt himself being hurled away and he tumbled to the ground.

Sara and Aeon took no notice of Anakin and Vader's struggle as they continued their deadly dance. Aeon kept attacking, keeping Sara on the defensive, knowing that if she were allowed the offense again, he would have nothing but trouble. Then he felt a flicker in the Force as a large rock flew towards his head. He turned and sliced it in two, then spun to catch Sara's blade. What he saw chilled him. Her face was devoid of all emotion except for the yellow-red color of her eyes, but even that was less intense than it had been. She started to to slash at him quickly, and now Aeon was on the defensive, and like Vader, he had begun to have a very bad feeling about how this battle was going to go. Yes, he was still in the Force, but he didn't realize just how strong the Sith training was. Aeon kept blocking, trying to keep her from gaining the advantage. He reached out and tried to push her away with the Force, but she held her ground and then threw him. Aeon hit a tree and fell to the ground. As the cobwebs cleared from his head, he saw a sizzling red blade an inch from his face. He knew a way to beat her, but he didn't think he could pull it off here. But he had no other choice and he started to reach into the Force, only to find that he was blocked by Sara. She suspected...no, she knew what he had planned to do and she was keeping him from doing it. Aeon had a sinking suspicion that everything was going wrong.

Intense and vicious, I love it.
As much as he denies it, Anakin is so much like Vader. The Dark Side of the Force is very seductive, and one may easily fall to its call.

Holy cow, can this be true? Can I really be updating in less than a month?! How on earth did I pull this off, you ask? Well, that's a S-E-C-R-E-T!

Leia wiped a few beads of sweat from her brow and cradled the gleaming sliver lightsaber in her hands, feeling its sleek shape in her hands, the curved out emitter reminiscent of Master Kenobi's weapon. She pressed her index finger to the round switch near the emitter and she was rewarded with gleaming amethyst light and the sonorous hum of a fully activated saber. She held it in her right hand and spun it a couple of times, testing its balance, finding it to be perfect. She released the button and the purple blade retracted. Leia grinned and attached her finely crafted lightsaber to the belt at her hip. She was one step closer to ascending as a Jedi Knight. She couldn't wait to tell Han...then she thought about how much longer they had together. She knew in her heart that he loved her as much as she loved him, but she was a Jedi, both by training and by birth. She felt an obligation to the Force to help the Galaxy and she knew how she should do it. Her path was leading her to the Rebel Alliance, and she knew Han wouldn't be too happy. The Alliance was spearheading a return to the foundations of the Galactic Republic, which meant a crackdown on smugglers like him. Of course, the Alliance was a fledgling organization, and barely an alliance at all. Rumors were that top Senators were at the head of it. Her father and Master Obi-Wan were being extremely tight lipped about it as well, but Leia knew that she wanted to help the Rebellion. Suddenly, she felt an icy chill in the Force. It was coming from the entrance to the cave. She turned and sprinted, using the Force to propel her along.

As she hit a curve, Luke appeared beside her and she saw his lightsaber in his hand already, parts of the weapon taking design cues from an older design of Obi-Wan's, and Masters Windu and Qui-Gon Jinn, which would've impressed any of them because Luke had never seen any of those weapons. "You felt it too?" he asked.

Leia nodded. "I don't know what it is, but it can't be good," she ground out, trying to stretch out her senses. As they neared the edge of the cave entrance, the sounds of lightsabers clashing together invaded the siblings' ears. Leia gripped her lightsaber and wrenched it from her belt, igniting its purple blade at the same time that Luke's weapon sprouted an emerald blade. Even before they hit the exit of the caves, they saw that Anakin and Aeon were engaged with enemies that weren't each other, and they weren't dueling for fun. However, right before they got out of the cave, a dark cloaked figure leaped down in front of them, and the Skywalker siblings skidded to a halt, their lightsabers humming in the cavern. The figure seemed completely cloaked in darkness and neither Luke or Leia could even sense its presence. Whoever it was had experience in keeping his or her presence hidden. A meter long bar of red flame appeared in the left hand of this person and it beckoned the Skywalkers. Luke raised the blade over his shoulder and gripped it hard in his right hand, his left hand lightly gripping the lower half of the weapon as Leia drew a Makashi flourish in the air and then held her weapon out to her right side in her right hand.

The figure radiated satisfaction and held its weapon in an en garde posture. In a moment, it flew between the siblings like a dark jellyfish, giving no clear target as it landed and spun. The twins barely had time to ready their lightsabers to block the strike. The figured continued to spin, and Luke and Leia barely had time to continue blocking, the cavern mouth lighting up with saber strikes, the weapon clashes echoing through the cave. Then Luke and Leia pushed forward, making the figure stop its deadly pirrouete. The figure held its saber over its shoulder, Luke and Leia's sabers crossing on it and even then, in the flashing light of the three lightsabers, the Skywalkers couldn't discern who this person was or even what gender it was. This person was doing everything to keep its identity hidden from the Skywalker twins.

Here we go again!

Anakin swore under his breath as he saw his children under attack by yet another Sith. He didn't know if it was an actual Sith, or just a Sith trained Dark Jedi, nor did he particularly care at this point. He ducked under Vader's blade and slammed his elbow into the Sith's stomach and then dropped to the ground, swinging his leg around, sending Vader sprawling onto the ground. But before Anakin could go to his children's aid, Vader swung his own leg out and tripped the Jedi. Anakin counted himself lucky that he avoided stabbing himself as he fell. He rolled back to his feet and spun to meet Vader's next advance. He didn't know it, but as the duel raged, they were moving closer to the spinning blades of Aeon and Sara as they fought. Anakin felt the touch of Aeon's thoughts and sent back his acknowledgment of the other's plan. It just might work. All he had to do was keep Vader busy for another minute or so. As he blocked Vader's blade and say the intense hatred in his doppleganger's eyes, he figured that wouldn't be difficult. Staying alive would be the only difficult part, and as it had on Mustafar, the Force told him that this would not be the place where his fate, or that of Vader's, would be decided. So, Anakin immersed himself even deeper in the stream that was the Force and allowed the flow to move him to block Vader's vicious assault.

Luke and Leia continued to try and gang up on the dark figure, but it was quick, its scarlet blade moving between the blades of amethyst and emerald, the flashes continuing to light up the cave. This duel, unlike the ones raging outside, was personal only in that it kept the Skywalker twins from reaching their father. There was no malice between the three. Only stubborn determination radiated from them. The twins kept attacking their opponent, trying to throw it off balance. But the figure kept spinning, their sabers flashing with each impact.

Aeon felt Anakin and Vader behind him as he kept blocking Sara's strikes. He hoped that his little plan would distract her enough to pull off something else. He kept moving his blade to deflect her fierce attacks, dividing his concentration between her and Anakin. He tried not to see the fight that was consuming the Skywalker children, but he marked where the person fighting them was in the Force. Suddenly, he felt it. He grinned at Sara, then ducked as she chopped at his head. He rolled to the side at the exact same time Anakin did the same thing. Aeon stood in front of Anakin, raised his left hand, and summoned Force lightning and blasted Sara and Vader, sending them flying towards the cave. As they flew, the other fight stopped, so Aeon used the Force to push Vader and Sara into the figure between the twins. He quickly toggled the comlink on his wrist, sending a pre-coded retrieval signal, and shouted at the Skywalkers, "Go! Get out of here!" They didn't need to be told twice, but Anakin gave Fothe a look before he trudged up the ramp of the Millennium Falcon. As the ship lifted off, he turned and saw the Sith regaining their balance, though he could see Vader's right hand was twitching. Aeon held his breath, but released it when he heard the roar of an ARC-170 in the air. As the Sith sprinted towards him, Aeon gathered his strength and let the Force catapult him above the trees and he landed on the wing of his fighter. He closed down his lightsaber and signalled Kat to let him into the cockpit. As soon as the cockpit sealed, he felt the engines kick into overdrive as Kat took the ship to the stars.

Sara Stone watched as the fighter flew out of her grasp and swore. She turned and stalked back towards their shuttle, Vader and Mara following. "Hurry, we must go after Skywalker," she heard Vader say.

Sara stopped and spun on her heel and shouted, "If you want to go after Skywalker, then find a different ship! I'm going after Fothe, and you're not going to stop me!" Vader actually stumbled back from the sheer force of her voice. Stone then spun again and went up the ramp into the shuttle. Vader and Mara soon followed, Vader vowing to discuss this matter with the Emperor himself. As Mara joined her "mother" in the cockpit, Vader entered the room with the Holonet link to Palpatine himself. He kneeled and activated it, waiting on his Master's convenience.

Soon, he heard the projection activate and then Sidious's voice filled the room, "What is it?"

Vader wasn't prepared for the sheer annoyance in Palpatine's voice, but he braced himself. "Master, I located Anakin Skywalker," he said, hoping that the news would cheer his Master.

"Have you indeed? Then why are you not bringing me his head?!" Palpatine roared.

Vader winced, his recent failures flowing through his mind. "Master, Lady Sara has instead taken us on a crusade to destroy Aeon Fothe," he replied.

Silence pervaded the room. Vader knew as he waited for Lord Sidious to reply, he was contacting Stone through their link. Once again Vader was jealous of the connection he had with his Hand. He remained on one knee, seething with rage. In moments, he heard Palpatine's voice once again. "Lord Vader. Things are coming to a head between Sara Stone and Aeon Fothe. I know not where this tide will turn," he said. Vader's eyes widened slightly. It wasn't often that Palpatine couldn't get some read on future events. "I know how badly you want to destroy Skywalker, but rest assured that this will not be your last meeting. Go with Stone. Help her see this through to the end. Whatever it may be. And remember Lord Vader. You must be prepared to eliminate her if necessary."

Vader dipped his head in respect and replied, "As you wish, Lord Sidious, it will be done."

Well, in apology for the short updates that I've done for so long, here's a nice long one for you. Let me know what you guys think!

"Do you think we were followed?" Kat asked as the fighter reverted to realspace just outside of the system where Aeon had decided to set up shop.

"Oh, I don't just think. I know they're coming. But now we're the ones deciding the battlefield. That should give us a slight advantage, right?" Aeon replied as he flew the ARC-170 past the gas giant, heading for the fourth moon. As he flew the ship into the hanger of the temple, he felt Sara's presence in the system. He toggled the switch to open the cockpit and jumped down, Kat following. "They'll be here any minute. You might as well stick with me. I don't think there's any hiding from these jackals," he said. He drew his gunsaber from his belt and stretched out into the Force. He could feel it. This would be the end of his relationship with Sara Stone and he welcomed it, for good or ill. The deep whine of an Imperial shuttle was heard echoing outside the temple and Aeon drummed his fingers on the grip of his weapon.

He tried and failed to keep his muscles from tightening as they waited. After what seemed like an eternity, he saw a lone figure entering the temple. Vader. Aeon's thumb rested on the hammer of his gunsaber, ready to ignite it. Suddenly, Vader soared into the air and landed at the top of a long set of stairs. Then he felt Sara. He turned to see her and another figure entering the temple. "Aeon Fothe!" called Vader. Aeon returned his gaze to Vader. "Sara's little crusade to destroy you has cost me the Chosen One. Your death had better be worth it. Begin!" he shouted. At that exact moment, he heard the snap-hiss of Sara's lightsaber springing to life behind him. Before he could activate his own weapon, Kat caught Sara's blade on her own purple blade.

Aeon activated his gunsaber right as the other figure threw off her cloak, revealing a lithe young woman with fiery golden hair who now brandished a bloodshine saber of her own. At that moment, Kat spun to meet this new opponent's blade as Sara and Aeon faced off. In less than a second, they met in mid air, throwing each other away with their sabers. Fothe skidded to a stop and then charged at Sara. He slashed at her and was almost blown backwards by her parry. He attempted a stab but she, again, batted it away. Then she spun and threw a kick at the side of his head. Aeon brought up his left arm and blocked her leg and then grabbed her ankle and started to throw her over his shoulder.

Sara shut down her lightsaber as she fell to keep from impaling herself on her own weapon. As she rolled back onto her feet, she reignited her blade just in time to block a strike from Fothe. Then he did something that she had never known him to do in all the years she had known him. He sidestepped his own blade as he spun the weapon in his hand. Sara barely avoided getting a vertical incision from belly button to throat. Her own blade was knocked away and then Aeon topped it off by smacking her in the chin with the butt of his gunsaber. Sara growled and shoved him with the Force and he flew up into the rafters.

At the same time, Kat and her opponent, Mara Jade, were dancing around each other, their blades hardly touching as they cut through the air. Impressive though it was, it was just a show. Unlike Aeon and Sara, these two women knew nothing about each other. They were testing each other, feeling for weaknesses, gauging each other's strengths. Naturally, neither of them made a serious move so far in their duel. However, Kat's Force training barely put her above a Padawan learner. Mara could defeat a Jedi Knight in combat if necessary. And Mara could sense it. Without any kind of warning in her posture or Force sense, Mara leapt at Kat and threw her off balance. Mara's blade danced between Kat's own weapon, barely touching the skin, but definitely searing flesh and she knew the pain from that was at least irritating, if not completely distracting. Mara laughed as she knocked the other woman onto her back. She stepped back and flourished her weapon. "Come on! This is fun, don't start giving up now! Face me!" she yelled at Otasim, a vicious grin on her face. Katsura slowly got to her feet and glared at Jade. "That's more like it!" the woman yelled as she came at Kat again, her blade moving almost impossibly quick.

Though Vader knew it was in his best interests to make certain that Sara won her fight with Aeon, he couldn't help but focus on Mara's duel. The young woman was as quick as any Jedi he had ever seen, maybe quicker. As he saw her pressing the woman who had been with Fothe further into a corner, he couldn't help but wonder if she might be a match for someone as powerful as even Mace Windu. She was scoring very light hits on Fothe's woman, obviously irritating her to the point where she couldn't concentrate enough in the Force. The Sith Lord smirked, amused at the use of such a tactic. But it seemed to be working. Though he could see that Mara's adversary had been trained well in the art of lightsaber combat, her Force knowledge seemed rather weak. Whoever she was, she wasn't trained at the Temple. She was no Jedi.

Aeon balanced on the rafter as Sara slowly made her way to him. Their lightsabers hummed menacingly as they stared at each other. Then he attacked, spinning his gunsaber towards her. She ducked and cut at his legs, intending to slice them off, but Fothe hopped over her blade, bringing his blade down at her head. Sara caught it and was knocked on her back, laying precariously on the rafter. Aeon brought his blade down again and again. Sara kept her blade horizontal to him, feeling the heat of the blades as each strike brought them closer to her. Aeon was good and angry now, she knew. She also knew that when he was angry, he tended to be very single minded. So she reached out and pulled on his legs, throwing him to his back. Then she shoved him over the rafter. Aeon had two choices, hold onto his gunsaber or grab the rafter. He chose the rafter. Sara grinned and stood back up and sauntered confidently to where he was hanging, listening as his weapon clattered to the floor, pathetically out of reach. At the same time, Sara cast her gaze to Mara's duel with Katsura. "Well Aeon, here we are. I mean really, look at you. Hanging there, at my mercy! How shall I finish you? Shall I kill you quickly? Or slowly and painfully?" Sara asked, almost giggling. Aeon glared at her angrily and she knew it. She knew he was furious. She stepped on his left hand, digging her heel into the flesh, her lightsaber still humming in her hand. She leaned down to Fothe's face. "Or, maybe I should let you live long enough to watch that girl down there die. She's pretty Aeon. Where'd you find her? Some brothel on Corellia?" she taunted.

Suddenly, Aeon grinned. "Nope. Found her trying to sneak into the Jedi Temple. And she won't be killed by you or your ilk," he said. Then he dropped his right hand to his belt and drew his dark lightsaber and ignited its scarlet blade. He then cut through the rafter that was supporting him and Sara. She stood straight and released Aeon's hand. He then pulled himself up and over to another rafter and beckoned at Sara. In less time than it takes a wooden rafter to fall, Sara was back on stable footing, her saber blazing at Aeon Fothe. Fothe parried each attack, holding his blade in his right hand, somewhat in a fencing stance. He mixed a few light attacks in between his parries, keeping Sara from gaining any kind of advantage.

Below, Kat barely avoided the falling debris and was shoved to the ground again by Mara Jade. She stood and charged, but Mara was quicksilver in her bladework and she finally disarmed Aeon's would-be apprentice. As the saber clattered on the floor, Mara gripped the woman's shirt in her fist and threw her back to the floor. Kat scrambled away as Mara held her lightsaber at her throat. "Don't be afraid. I don't plan on killing you. You're not important enough. Just sit there and be quiet. Your friend will be dead soon."

Aeon kept batting away Sara's slashes, moving backwards on the rafters. He felt himself immersed in the cool waters of the Force. He held up his saber and caught her blade as she hacked at him. Their blades locked and he stared at his old friend. Her eyes seemed to flash back and forth, blue and yellow. Something was breaking in her. But the hatred she felt for him continued to emanate like the heat from a sun's corona. As far as he could tell, her hatred was real. Sara kept pushing down and he just let her push. Then he swung out his right leg, catching her in the left calf. She tumbled over the side, but used the Force to catch herself at the end of the fall, landing with a feline grace. Aeon himself flipped down, also using the Force at the last second to slow down his descent, landing as if he had just taken a step off a small curb. He motioned with his lightsaber and waited. Sara winced as she straightened. Her ankle was twisted, she could feel it. But she would never give up. She twisted her blade, watching Aeon for some sign he would attack first. When none came, she sprung from her good ankle and attacked. She kept hitting him, their crimson blades sputtering with each hit. She spun her blade back and under, knocking Aeon's blade up and away. Then she pivoted on her heel and plunged her other foot into his stomach. As Fothe stumbled back, Sara spun again, dragging her lightsaber across his upper right thigh. Aeon growled, but she landed another kick in his chin, knocking him to his back. Aeon moaned a bit, then gasped as he felt Sara's boot thump into his side. Then she did it again and again. After a moment, he was gasping for breath, and then he felt her heel dig into his sword hand. He lost his grip and she kicked it away, the blade sputtering away as it deactivated. Aeon shook his head, trying to clear the cobwebs from his head, but was met by the sizzling end of a lightsaber. Sara was panting and grinning fiercely. "You. I finally have you! You're mine at last!" she shouted.

Vader smiled lightly from his vantage point. "Good, now finish him!" he called to her. "Take your revenge for everything he's done to you!"

Sara kept grinning, almost unnaturally. Aeon found his way through the pain to whisper, not only with words, but with the Force as well, "Sara, no. You can't do this...this isn't who you are!" The words finally broke through whatever it was that clouded her thoughts. Her eyes cleared completely for the first time in years. Unbeknownst to any of them, light years away, Palpatine had cut his connection with his Hand. He knew that in order to actually find out where her allegiances lie, she would have to do it all by herself. And at the same time, Aeon had used the Force to push through the hatred she had built up. Since a lot of the hatred had been created and nurtured by Sidious, it evaporated. Aeon stared as the blade trembled slightly.

"Aeon...oh Force, I'm sorry! I don't hate you," she said, stepping back. At that moment, Vader's hatred blazed. Sara looked at her lover and said, "I won't kill him. I'm not one of you anymore." She knew what was about to happen. She knew that Vader would fly at her and kill her. What she wasn't expecting was the blazing red energy coming at her from her immediate left. She barely blocked it and saw Mara's face glaring at her.

"How could you?! You swore to kill him! To kill all Jedi! You have an obligation to Lord Sidious!" Mara screeched, tears streaming from her eyes. She hacked at her "mother"'s saber, knocking the woman to her back, and she kept hacking. Sara tried to throw Mara off, but she just couldn't, she no longer had the strength. Then Mara kicked Sara's arm and severed it with one slice of her lightsaber. Then Jade pulled her to her feet and stabbed her through the chest. "I have no mother!" Mara screamed as she drew her blade back out of her chest, letting Stone fall to the ground. Then she glared at Aeon Fothe and reared back with her blade, ready to kill him too when she felt Vader's hand grip her arm.

"No. We accomplished our true mission here. We found out where Sara Stone's loyalties truly were and rooted her out as the traitor she was. There's no need to waste our time on these false Jedi any longer," Vader said, releasing Mara and starting towards the exit. After glaring a moment longer at Aeon and the dying Sara, Mara extinguished her weapon and followed the Sith Lord.

Aeon watched them leave, holding his old friend in his arms, feeling her life leaving her. "Aeon...I'm sorry for everything. Look, I know you can't help directly but...somehow, I need you to help Mara...she's not...truly..." Sara's eyes closed and her head lolled as her body went limp.

Aeon close his eyes and slowly put Stone's body down on the floor, leaving her to rest. As he stood, Kat slowly came over to him and put her arms on his shoulders. "I knew it. She wasn't evil. She wasn't Sith. She was just their tool, their puppet. Sidious and Vader just used her to satisfy their own goals," he said softly.

Katsura gripped his shoulders, thinking of the red haired woman who had been with Vader. "And now they have someone else to manipulate Aeon. Do you think we can help her?" she asked. Aeon closed his eyes. The Force didn't surrender the answer.

That night, Sara's body was burned, surrendering her physical form back to the Force as Aeon mourned her loss. And even later that night, when the sun had vanished completely, and not even the stars themselves could penetrate the darkness, Aeon stood atop the temple, looking up at the gas giant above. In his hand, he held Sara's lightsaber. Then he looked down and tossed the hilt into the dark abyss, bidding one last farewell to his old friend.
