	Hey Irish! Can't wait for the tension/bickering/dramatics to begin. This chapter seems to be a moment's rest before the storm. And, funny you should mention karma biting my professor in the dupa (Polish), at the end of the semester, he actually had a pretty serious heart attack. They really weren't sure if he was going to make it. I had always envisioned something like it, but never actually wished it on him! Anyways, long story short, he's still alive and kicking, but I am refusing to take another class with him. Onto screenwriting, then! As usual, can't wait for the next chapter. Much love, echo.

	I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to update. The family finally came out to visit me and my boy friend had surgery this past friday - he had a couple of complications but's he's fine now. Annoying me as usual Anyway, I'm really going to try and get this back up to a weekly update - we'll see how that goes Again I'm really sorry for the delay. Hope you enjoy! _________________________________ Chapter 11 The Princess sat and waited on the Falcon while Han and Chewie arranged for the meeting. They had been gone almost an hour when she started to get a little stir crazy. Throwing on her robe and placing the hood over her head, she wandered down the ramp. The hangar, which they had been given clearance to land in, seemed like one that hotel guests who wished to keep a low profile could use. The hangar itself was shielded and camouflaged in order to appear to be part of the hotel itself. She recognized one of the ships across the hangar to be Wynssa Starflare’s. She must be on Coruscant for a premiere of a holo-movie, Leia thought. “Hey Le – you,” Han shouted from the doorway to the hotel. Leia just shook her head as she hit the button to raise the ramp before joining him. “That was smooth,” she muttered while walking past him. “I’ll give ya smooth,” Han countered as he joined her. “Lando is willing to meet but I don’t know if he’s gonna go for the whole hooded look.” Before Leia could say anything, they were on a turbo lift heading for the main penthouse. As soon as the door opened she was met with some of the most dangerous bounty hunters and gangster this side of the core worlds. Her feet wouldn’t move as she saw Boba Fett and several others staring at them. Han had to push her out of the lift. “Your friend’s a little stiff Solo. You losing your touch?” Boba laughed. The group of mercenaries joined in as Han and Leia turned away from the living area in which the group was lounging. Chewie was standing by a door waiting for them. “Let me handle Lando,” Han said between gritted teeth before proceeding through the door. Moments later, they were standing in a luxurious office that was made to look safe, though Leia could feel several cameras trained on them. She wondered if Han knew about the deceptive nature of the room. From a door in the back, Lando appeared, dressed like a mob boss with a cape and several rings on each hand. His smile was slimy and his mannerisms were of a hustler. He gave the Senator a bear of a hug. “Han, ole buddy, how can I help you?” Han slapped his friend on the back then pulled back to look at him. “My friend here needs some unusual supplies.” The Senator went right into business, with a serious tone. Lando glanced in Leia’s direction a moment, a curious look on his face, “You’re dealing with Jawas now? The Rebels must really be desperate for information.” He asked in disbelief with a hint of concern. Han gave a sideways glance to Leia who picked up on his uneasiness. Though they had confided in each other about their intentions, they hadn’t verbalized what they were actually doing. “I’d advise you to shut off the holo-recorders before we proceed,” Leia kept her voice low. “Holo-recordings?” Lando laughed nervously. Leia could see Han was about to explode; stepping in before he had a chance, she waved her hand in front of Lando’s face. “You will turn off all the Holo-Recordings, and give any holodiscs of Senator Solo to him now.” In a dazed state, Lando repeated each word and began to walk around the room, aimlessly turning off hidden equipment. He walked into the back room and returned with one holodisc marked “Solo”. “Can you teach me how to do that?” Han asked in amazement. “You’re not strong enough in the Force to be able to do this. Force knows the galaxy doesn’t need you running around tricking the entire population of local bar maids into bed,” her sassy tone caused the Senator to smile. “They don’t need to be tricked Sweetheart, they come willingly,” he boasted. Rolling her eyes with a small laugh, the Princess turned back to Lando who was holding out the holodisc. “Senator, please take your holo-recording and let me speak with the Baron alone for a moment.” “I’m not leaving you alone with him,” Han said in shock. “Funny, Cody thought the same thing about you, and I seem to be here safe and sound, aren’t I.” She hadn’t realized it was a backwards compliment, but luckily Han didn’t either. He just gave a stern look before heading towards the door. “I’m gonna be right outside,” he paused, “listening to everything going on in here.” [He means I’ll be telling him everything going on in here] Chewie gave a chuckling type of woof. The door closed and Leia took a seat in a chair facing the Baron’s desk and waited for the effects of the mind trick to wear off. “What in the hell – Where’s Han? What happened” Lando asked in a completely confused voice. “Please, Baron, take a seat,” she said calmly. He looked down at her and this time she could tell that he was not going to take her lightly. He slowly angled himself around his desk, not taking his eyes of her. When he was seated he spoke again. “Who are you?” Knowing that Lando might be a good resource to have in the future the Princess slowly took her hood off and watched as the man’s face became ashen. “Your Highness.” He began to stand in shock when Leia put her hand out to stop him. “First, I need to know if I can trust you Baron,” she began. “I saw the people you deal with outside in the lounge, but yet you also help the Senator in his efforts with the Rebellion.” She paused to watch his reaction, but just like Han, Lando’s sabacc face was unreadable. Luckily, she had the Force on her side; he was scared of her but his curiosity was keeping him glued to his chair. “Why?” Clearing his throat the Baron began. “I met Han before he became a Senator. We were at a local cantina on Tatooine, and I was the only one who recognized him. At that point he was widely known through the sabacc circles to be the best player. Some said better than me. I couldn’t believe a 15-year-old was better than me,” Lando scoffed as he lounged back in his chair interlocking his fingers and tapping his thumbs. “I had fallen on hard times, cards weren’t turning my way. So I thought I could beat this pretty boy would- be Senator of Alderaan.” “But you didn’t,” Leia added with a hint of pride. “Did you?” Lando smiled. “No I didn’t.” He took a deep breath. “In fact I got a good nerf whooping. I shouldn’t have been surprised – as I said it was pretty dark times for me and I tended to lean on Corellian brandy for help.” He glanced down in embarrassment for a moment before continuing. “Anyway, I was out of money, so I put up the one thing I owned. The Falcon.” “She was your ship?” Leia gasped. “Yup, and he never lets me forget it,” he chuckled. “I took him to the hangar where she was stored, gave him the pass codes and a brief tour then started to leave when he stopped me. Asked what I was gonna do next. I didn’t have any plans, so he asked me to stick around and be his first mate. He hadn’t rescued Chewbacca at that point, so for a while it was just the two of us. A 15-year-old hot shot, who had the best aim and piloting skills I had ever seen and a broken–down sabacc player who wasn’t much older.” “How old?” “Seventeen,” Lando said honestly. “It’s a hard life in the Outer Rim. You grow up fast.” The Princess just nodded her head in understanding. “I had a place to stay at the Palace in Aldera and when we weren’t flying around I helped upgrade the ships. Within a month or two Han began to go on crazier missions and going undercover. At first he didn’t tell me what was going on until one day I slugged him and threatened to walk away.” Leia cocked her eyebrow in disbelief. “It’s true, it was the first and last time I ever hit him. He finally told me about his involvement in the Rebellion and how he was trying to make connections for the up and coming group. Knowing the underworld would be a much more helpful crowd than any imperial planet.” Lando got up and began to pace, “When he rescued Chewie he started getting watched a lot more closely by Imperial Intelligence. Both his father and I were worried he’d do something stupid. Plus Bail had announced his retirement at the end of his last term, and it was obvious Han would be his replacement. So I convinced him to let me be the contact for this side of the Rebellion. I already had many of my own contacts for supplies and artillery. All we needed was a legitimate business to use as the base of operation.” “But you needed to separate yourself from the Senator.” Leia said while slowly piecing together the whole story. Lando gave a smirk, “You are a clever one. Han and I entered the Coruscant Classic knowing we could both get to the final table. Once there, we slowly knocked out everyone else out,” he paused and gave the Princess a sideways glance. “And you know the rest.” Leia nodded her head as she stood up, “I do. So that holo-recording you have of Han. It’s the final round isn’t it?” “I owe Han a lot,” he said distantly. “Well, I think this could be the beginning of a wonderful friendship.” Leia smiled. “But after today I don’t want you letting the Senator know you’re supplying me.” “Fair enough.” Lando took a seat again as they negotiated the terms of their new agreement. Thirty minutes, later she was exiting the office with her hood up but shaking the Baron’s hand. “Your supplies will be in your room,” Lando said before turning to Han. The two men began to catch up and Leia could tell they had several code words to infer other meanings. While Han was distracted, she pulled Chewie aside and asked a favor of him. The Wookiee woofed in agreement just before Han joined them. “What’s next?” Han asked as the group began to head towards the turbo lift. “I need some time to prepare then I’ll let you know where to drop me off,” Leia whispered. “I’ll say it again, you ain’t getting rid of me Princess – not until that pretty little head of yours is back in the Imperial Palace.” If he hadn’t been so cocky about it the Princess might have blushed when he called her pretty, instead she just let out an exasperated breath and waited for the turbo lift to stop on their floor. “Give me twenty minutes.” She requested as they exited the turbo lift and walked down the hallway toward the room. “I just need to freshen up and make sure the equipment works.” She noticed the Senator was still following her to the room. “I’ll meet you down at the casino,” she added, hoping he’d get the hint. Han looked as if he was contemplating whether or not to trust her. “Yeah, ok, but I’m leaving Chewie here.” “If you must,” she tried to sound agitated. Once Han was on the lift, Leia gave a nod to Chewie before heading into the room. The rooms were almost as extravagant as Lando’s Office. Searching for the equipment she found it taped behind the bed’s head board. She pulled out her overnight case that the Wookiee had been kind enough to carry for her, and began to change into her darker clothes. 3PO and R2 knew what she need, a pair of dark brown slacks and shirt with her deep brown robe. She adjusted her clothing then packed the equipment in her bag and slung it over her shoulder. Heading for the balcony she watched the busy traffic until a speeder with a Wookie at the helm caught her attention. Climbing up onto the wall of the balcony Leia waited to time her jump. Leaping high into the air she flipped then twisted into a swan dive and landed with a soft thud on the passenger seat. “Thanks Chewie. Did Han spot you?” [Cub found a low–key sabacc table, he’ll be occupied for hours] he barked over the wind. “Thank you for helping me,” she shouted back. [If it keeps Cub out of trouble, I’m all for it] he growled. Within minutes, she could see the towering Palace in the horizon. Chewie followed her instructions and merged into the one lane of traffic that flies the closet to the Palace. It also happened to be right underneath her bedroom balcony. [Good Luck] Chewie woofed as she pushed off her seat and exploded into the air. Leia rolled as she landed on the balcony. Quietly grabbing the equipment out of the bag before hiding it under her bed, she moved towards her door. Stretching out with the Force she could feel that Luke wasn’t on this floor of the Palace and neither was her father. She waited a moment longer before entering the joint living room. Stealthily moving through the halls, she made her way towards her father’s office. Luckily it was empty. Using the Force to help make her movements quicker, she entered the office and began to load the tactical information about the mission to destroy the Rebellion onto the data pad. As she looked through the heavily encrypted files the splicer had decoded, she saw the plans for the battle station her father had been arguing about those many years ago. They projected its completion to be just after her 18th birthday. Suddenly Leia felt her father’s presence. He was heading towards the office. Finishing the download, Leia moved to the side room and awaited to exit until the exact moment her father was entering. She took a deep breath and then moved into the hallway, and just as she was about to round the corner she felt a large patrol group heading up the stairs. “This is Bravo group please be advised the Princess’s ship will be entering Coruscant air space in twenty minutes,” the radio blasted in the stormtroopers hands. Leia’s heart began to pound furiously. She didn’t have much time and there was no way to get back up to her room. Her only option was the library. Sprinting towards it she headed for the back row of books and fumbled around with the holodiscs until she pulled the right one. She darted into the passage before anyone could spot her. Once the massive wall closed behind her, she paused and leaned against it. Staring down the dimly lit corridor, she realized that she had come to the final crossroads. Ahead of her was the long and unknown path of the Rebellion, dark with uncertainty. Behind her was the brightly lit library and the Imperial life she would be walking away from forever. Pushing off the wall she looked in both directions, until she realized she had already made the decision. She had walked away from the Imperial life when she had agreed to be Obi-Wan’s apprentice in secret and each day she was slowly defying her father, this would just be the final step in a long road of deception.
