	DarthIshtar - Rish, I am highly intrigued by this and so happy to be your beta. I love Obi-Wan's more aggressive side, the one that hasn't been destroyed by his experience, only emboldened to put it right. I can't wait for the rest! First post! -- Yeah Beta Poe! Thanks again for taking on this crazy story, hopefully it won’t disappoint. DarthNaughtious - I like what you've done with this story--you've explained the AU differences very well (without making changes to the characters), which is something not everyone can do and which I always admire. Very interesting so far. Can't wait to read what happens next. -- I'm a firm believer that any AU can work, as long as you give it the back-story to keep the characters true and the world in which they exist. Lvoed the little bits of Obi-Wan's humor. -- I always though Obi Wan was a lot funnier in his youth, so I wanted to use that dry sense of humor a little more. michaellover - The next day they used a container to house all the spare lightsabers and just before they sealed it Obi Wan took Anakin’s off his belt and placed it on top. “Good bye old friend.” now yuou finally did it Ani, you got the only two persons that trusted you out of the way, one dead and the other an eternal prisioner. I hope the children don't turn as badly as you did -- Well Luke might be a little more brain washed then Leia, but have faith. Obi Wan's still alive and hopefully he can keep the kids from suffering the same fate as their father. PonyTricks - Oh this looks good! Luke and Leia growing up as the children of Emperor Skywalker! Anakin's Emperor now (I wonder how that happened?! ), Padmé's still dead from childbirth, the twins are with their father, and all the Clones that served under the Jedi Commanders have been gathered to guard Obi-Wan within the Temple... Wow... a veritable breeding ground of possibilities! The summary really roused up my curiosity. It sounded almost like Leia was going to, by day, be the little heiress apparent of the Empire, and then at night, will don a mask and go out making sure the laws are upheld while being trained by Obi-Wan within the Temple... Leia the Masked Superhero! Again, excellent beginning! I'd love to be added to the PM list as well! AQ -- Actually AQ you're a lot closer to the the truth about the summary then you think. 	Thanks for all your kind reviews. I would give you a general schedule for updating but I'm afraid this story will be a little more sporadic until I finish my first one. (it's almost done, just a few more chapters to go). Several people asked to be put on a PM list so if anyone else would like to be added let me know. As always thanks to Poe, LL18, Z, Wyn, Melissa and anyone else I might bug about this story. ____________________________________________ Chapter 1 8 years later “Your Highness’, please stop running – your father will be most disappointed,” 3PO shouted as he shuffled down the corridor after the children. “Aww, come on, 3PO,” Luke shouted over his shoulder. “We’ll be late for our lesson,” Leia added. The two children happily ran into the training room, each taking their places and waiting for their father. A moment later 3PO scooted in and took his normal seat. The room was still as the children smiled at each other. “I will meet with Organa after my lesson,” Anakin barked as he entered the room from another door. “Yes my lord,” the servant bowed before disappearing. Anakin took off his robes and faced his children, trying to act serious, but finding it very hard to suppress a smile, “Peace is a lie.” “There is only passion,” Luke finished. “Very good,” Anakin smiled then turned to Leia. “But, Dad, why is peace a lie?” Leia asked. “Oh, not again,” Luke complained. “No, it’s all right, Luke, your sister has been studying the history of the Old Republic – it’s only natural for her to ask questions,” Anakin walked over to his little girl. “I’m glad I don’t have to,” Luke mumbled. “Why can’t I learn to fly an X-Wing or shoot a blaster? Why does Luke get to do all the fun things?” Leia asked as Anakin knelt down in front of her. “Because Luke is going to lead the Military when he’s older, my little Leia,” Anakin smiled – she had so much of Padme in her, and he knew this is what she would have wanted for Leia. “Why can’t I lead the Military?” her small lips pouted and she put her hands on her hips. “Because you have a much more important role,” he grabbed her petite shoulders. “One day you will become Empress and rule over all the galaxy.” “Just like Mom would have,” Leia repeated a phrase she had heard many times. “Just like Mom would have,” Anakin echoed before standing up. “Now have you been practicing you levitation?” “Yes, sir,” the twins echoed. For the next hour they took turns levitating different objects. Afterwards 3PO escorted Luke to his flight training while Leia was left alone. She didn’t have another lesson for another hour. Knowing she still had free time, Leia slowly followed her father. Ever since Leia could remember she was the only person who could sneak up on him. Just before the door closed to his office she darted in and hid in the room adjoining it. Moments later Bail Organa followed by a young man entered. “Emperor,” Bail gave a small bow, as did the young man. “Viceroy Organa,” Anakin said in a respectful tone. “I hope your trip from Alderaan was a pleasant one? To what do I owe the honor?” “Emperor Skywalker, I have come to ask that you not allow this amendment abolishing non-humanoid Alien rights to be voted on,” Bail spoke passionately. Leia found herself wanting to actually pay attention to the man. Very few adults had that power over the young child. “Viceroy, has terrorism against Imperial property not risen? Is it not true that most,” Anakin stood and looked out the window. “Crime here on Coruscant and other core planets, is committed by non-humanoids.” “That’s because we’ve made it so they can’t work, how are they suppose to care for their families? Provide food and shelter for them, what other alternatives do they have besides crime?” the young man spoke just as fiercely as Bail. Leia sensed that he was not afraid of her father. Something she didn’t find in people that often, which made her fascination with him grow. “Senator Solo, I see you take after your father,” Anakin motioned to Bail. “You have only served in the Senate for a month correct?” Anakin asked as he approached the man. “That’s right,” Senator Solo let his Corellian accent slip as he became defensive. Leia peeked out from behind the wall to get a better look at him. He was a little taller then Viceroy Organa and very handsome. Leia then realized that he had spotted her. She quickly ducked back behind the wall then slowly crept to the other side of the room and made her exit. Once in the hallway she let out a sigh of relief. “You must be Princess Skywalker,” the voice startled the young child but she soon regained her composure as she starred at the young Senator. “You scared me,” Leia said in a tone that would have made 3PO proud. “My apologies,” he bowed. “How rude of me to scare a Princess.” Leia reciprocated his bow then stared at the young man for a moment. “You’re not afraid of my father, are you?” “Are you afraid of your father?” Solo asked. “That doesn’t answer my question,” Leia started to tap her foot. “And you didn’t answer mine,” Solo smiled. “I asked first?” “I asked last?” The Princess eyes him for a moment then let out an exasperated breath. “He’s my dad. Why would I be afraid of him?” “He’s my Emperor,” Solo smiled. “Why would I be afraid of him?” For a moment Leia looked confused then realized what the Senator was getting at. He knelt down to look her in the eye. “I’m not afraid of your father, because unlike Palpatine I think he has good intentions.” “If you think he has good intentions, then why are you fighting him?” “Because sometimes even when the person has the best of intentions they might be going about it the wrong way,” he explained. “What’s my Dad doing wrong?” Leia’s tone was honest and sincere. “Have you ever met a Wookiee?” The Princess shook her head. “Chewie,” Solo called out over his shoulder. Out of the shadows a large chestnut colored Wookiee appeared and came up behind the Senator. “This is my body guard Chewbacca. I saved him from slavery. Slavery your father allows.” The Princess gasped, “You were a slave?” The Wookiee nodded its head then growled softly [I was stolen from my Planet taken away from my family] The Senator was about to translate when Leia spoke. “They took you away from your family? That’s not right!” The young child was visibly upset. [I owe Cub my life – ] “You have a Wookiee that owes you a life debt.” The Princess’ shocked face made Solo smile, “You seem very knowledgeable for someone so young.” “I was just studying Kashyyyk, I spend several months learning and studying the langue and cultures of the core and mid rim planets,” she said in a droll manner. “I found the Wookiee to be one of the most honorable creatures I’ve studied so far,” this she said with enthusiasm. [Thank you little Princess] Chewie woofed. Leia laughed at his nickname for her, “I’ll always be little to you,” she then paused. “We never properly introduced ourselves,” she stuck out her hand. “I’m Leia, Leia Skywalker.” “And I’m Han, Han Solo,” he took her small hand and kissed it. Chewie gave a respectful bow. “Han,” Bail’s voice rang out. Han looked over his shoulder and gave a small nod. “It was a pleasure meeting you, Princess Skywalker,” he said with a final bow as he stood. “Oh, you can call me Leia,” the young girl unknowingly blushed. “Ok . . . Leia,” he gave a crocked smile as he turned to walk away. The Princess watched the group leave and just before they turned the corner Han waved, causing Leia to smile uncontrollably and give a small wave in return. Once they were out of sight she begrudgingly turned towards the library figuring it would pass the time before her next lesson. Her thoughts still lingered on the Senator as she approached a bookshelf hidden in the far corner of the enormous room. She wasn’t paying much attention as she levitated herself up a few rows to reach a certain group of holo-discs. She reached up and grabbed a disc, however the disc wouldn’t budge, causing Leia to tilt her head in a curious manner. She reached back up again but this time she tilted it forward. The rushing sound of air caused her to lose concentration and she fell to the floor. Dusting herself off she looked up to find a hidden passage before her. Being the curious one that she was, Leia proceeded through the passage with out a second thought. The slam of the bookcase behind her cause a moment of fear, but soon small guiding lights lit the hallway. She had walked for what seemed like hours when she finally heard voices up ahead. She quickened her pace and headed for the door. She pressed her ear up against it to try and hear the voices better but they were still muffled. She started looking for a button that would open the door and after an extensive search she found a small foot pedal on the ground. The door swung back and Leia peeked out to see where she was. It looked like a closet of some kind. Funny looking robes were hanging on the walls and a sealed barrel stood in the middle of it. For some unknown reason she felt drawn to the barrel in some way, like something was pulling her to look inside it. She reached out for it but the voices startled her. Creeping over to the door of the closet she listened for a moment then palmed it open. She peered into the large hallway. Her jaw dropped at the beauty of the building, sunlight pouring in from all directions. She could feel the fresh air dance through the corridors, and the Force was prickling with electricity. She felt more alive and more at home in this hallway then she ever did in the Imperial Palace. Not paying much attention she stepped out into the corridor and began to walk towards the voices. Her eyes were wide with wonder as she traveled the hall. She spotted a man meditating in one of the rooms. He seemed at peace with the Force, something she never felt from her father. The Princess tiptoed into the room and quietly took a seat on the circular cushion across from him. The blinds were half-drawn, causing slivers of light to create streaks across his face and beard. His features were soft and warm, as were the colors of his robes. Leia felt an instant connection to him, as if she had known him all her life. She mimicked the position he was sitting in and tried to close her eyes, but then she realized she didn’t know what to do after that. “Excuse me,” she whispered. The man’s eyes snapped open, and for a moment he looked confused. Then the Princess saw a hint of recognition that was quickly concealed. “Hello there.” “Hi,” Leia said happily. “I’m Leia!” She held out her hand. “Obi Wan Kenobi,” the Jedi said as he took her hand. “May I ask, what you were thinking about when you were sitting here?” her forwardness caused a small laugh to escape Obi Wan’s lips. “Meditating. Only when our minds are at peace can we feel the Force flow through us,” he smiled. “Peace is a lie, there is only passion,” Leia said, confused by the old man’s statement. “Who taught you that,” Obi Wan tried to conceal his anger. “My Dad,” Leia whispered. “Is he trying to do the right thing but going about it the wrong way again?” “Again?” Obi Wan was confused. “Han said my Dad wants to do the right thing but is going about it the wrong way, like allowing Wookiee’s to be slaves,” the young child sad sadly. “Repeat the Sith code,” Obi Wan instructed. “What’s a Sith?” Leia asked as tilted her head in the process. “What you said earlier. Peace is a lie; there is only passion.” “Oh that’s our code for us. Dad says we’re the only one’s who can do what we can do, but I sense that you can do it too,” the poor girl seemed so confused. “You’re right, I’m a Jedi,” Obi Wan smiled. “You’re a Jedi!” she almost jumped. “I thought Emperor Palpatine killed them all and that’s why Dad killed him. He killed all of Dad’s friends,” Leia scooted off the cushion. “He’ll be so happy you’re alive,” she grabbed Obi Wan’s hand and started to pull him. Reluctantly Obi Wan got up and followed. “Princess,” he said softly as she guided him out of the room and towards the closet. “How’d you know I was a Princess?” she beamed up at him. Obi Wan stopped her and knelt down, “Leia,” his throat tightened. “Your father was the one who put me in here.” Leia pulled out of the Jedi’s embrace and started to back away, “No he wouldn’t do that, he misses his friends. He’s always sad I can feel it.” “Leia I’m sorry, but there are things your Dad isn’t telling you,” Obi Wan regretted those words the moment they left his mouth. “I don’t believe you,” She continued to back away. “Leia,” Obi Wan called out as the girl retreated back to the closet. Leia ran back into the closet and desperately tried to look for the button, which would open the door. Hitting the certain part of the wall she quickly ducked into the secret passage, not paying much attention Leia failed to notice Obi Wan following her. Minutes later she was coming up on the door to the library when she heard yelling and screaming. “I don’t know sir, we haven’t seen her since her lesson this morning,” Leia heard a man whimper. She quickly found the foot pedal and peeked out into the library. She darted out and headed for the end of the row of books. When she rounded the corner she saw a man being choked by her father. Anakin was holding the man high off the ground. “You lost my daughter!” Anakin roared. “I’ll kill you!” “Dad, stop!” Leia screamed at him causing all movement in the giant library to stop. Anakin immediately dropped the man and made a move towards Leia, who jumped back from him. “Leia,” he whispered in a soothing voice. Leia continued to back away from him until she hit the back wall. Leia glanced back towards the secret door and saw Obi Wan watching her he looked scared for her. She turned her attention back to her father who was closing in on her position. She quickly moved in the opposite direction away from Obi Wan. A few moments later she was running into her shared suite with Luke, she panted as she entered the living room. Not wanting to deal with her twin, the Princess went right to her bedroom and locked the door behind her. She walked over to her nightstand and pulled out the holo-picture of her mother she had stolen a year before. Her father never talked about her much and Leia was sick of hearing whispers about how much she looked like her, so she took matters into her own hands. “What do I do mom?” Leia whispered to the image, before looking out to the sun setting over the city. She curled up into a ball and let her mind wonder over the events of the day. Was her Dad not the great leader she had thought? Was everything she was taught growing up wrong? Had her Dad lied to her all her life? 	tries to reconcile Han Solo, Smuggler and Scoundrel with Han Solo, Senator ... ... ... Wow... now that's an interesting twist! Han Solo's a Senator! giggles Now that's a sight I'd love to see! Excellent chapter, Irish! Loved seeing things from Leia's point of view. Her annoyance that Luke got to do all of the fun things was so adorable! Though, if you think about it, it is kind of sad. Anakin seeks to control their destinies. Luke looks like him, so he should be actively working toward some sort of military position, while since Leia is the image of her mother, she should automatically be the next ruler of the Empire. Oy... You'd think Anakin would know better than to try and control them so closely. At least one of them - in this case, Leia - is bound to rebel. And now she's met Obi-Wan and seen the proof of Han's words that Darth Daddy Dearest isn't the oh so wonderful leader she had been led to believe he was. I expect she'll be off to visit Obi-Wan again soon. Even if Padmé's spirit were to appear and encourage her to seek out the old Jedi. Again, great job! Can't wait for what will happen next! I like this advocate style Han--he already was a person who did good--but he concealed it in that smuggler facade. So this desire to free the wookies through diplomacy makes sense to me. I like seeing Anakin--and of course he's just as upside down as ever with his beliefs. Maybe someone can straighten him out! Great job!
