	AngelQueen - tries to reconcile Han Solo, Smuggler and Scoundrel with Han Solo, Senator Wow... now that's an interesting twist! Han Solo's a Senator! giggles Now that's a sight I'd love to see! Excellent chapter, Irish! Loved seeing things from Leia's point of view. Her annoyance that Luke got to do all of the fun things was so adorable! Though, if you think about it, it is kind of sad. Anakin seeks to control their destinies. Luke looks like him, so he should be actively working toward some sort of military position, while since Leia is the image of her mother, she should automatically be the next ruler of the Empire. Oy... You'd think Anakin would know better than to try and control them so closely. At least one of them - in this case, Leia - is bound to rebel. And now she's met Obi-Wan and seen the proof of Han's words that Darth Daddy Dearest isn't the oh so wonderful leader she had been led to believe he was. I expect she'll be off to visit Obi-Wan again soon. Even if Padmé's spirit were to appear and encourage her to seek out the old Jedi. Again, great job! Can't wait for what will happen next! AQ -- Yeah I'm really want to get the point across that Anakin is doing what he thinks is the right thing. Since Padme is dead then in his mind Leia should be the Empress and Luke should be a warrior like he is. Anakin really isn't the bad guy here, the bad guy comes later Kestrel_Kenobi - Thanks for letting me know this is up. I really enjoyed this - I love how you're bringing all the characters together. I liked Leia and Han's meeting - very sweet. I look forward to more -- Thanks! I love playing with idea's about these characters in different situations, but still being the same as the movies. Something she didn’t find in people that often, which made her fascination with him grow. I like this advocate style Han--he already was a person who did good--but he concealed it in that smuggler facade. So this desire to free the wookies through diplomacy makes sense to me. I like seeing Anakin--and of course he's just as upside down as ever with his beliefs. Maybe someone can straighten him out! Great job! Oh and thanks to all the usual peeps - Poe, Z, LL18, Melissa, Wyn and . . . PT. LOL Why not! _________________________________ Chapter 2 It was very early in the morning and Leia was wide awake. Her mind had been plagued with questions all night. 3PO and R2 had brought the Princess dinner and stayed with her through out the night. The droids had been known to be overprotective when it came to the twins. They were currently out in the living room, charging. Leia slipped into her robe and moved past them. She silently walked the halls of the dark palace. Unknowingly, she was heading for the library. It wasn’t until she was standing in front of the bookcase that she knew what was bothering her. Pulling the case which held the holo-disc, she entered the secret passage. “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” Leia called out as she walked the halls of the temple, passing the meditation room she had met him in the day before. All most shouting, “Obi-Wan!” “Princess?” a groggy and confused Jedi Master said from an adjoining hallway. Sensing her sadness, Obi-Wan quickened his pace towards the young girl. “What’s the matter? Are you all right?” “How do you know my father?” she questioned. For a moment it looked like the little girl would lose her composure, but she was a Princess and knew how to handle herself. Obi-Wan had never had paternal instincts, but for some reason he could feel the Force pushing him to open up to this child. He closed the distance between them and gently took her hand in his. He guided her back to the meditation room and placed her on one of the cushions. “Your father and I were Jedi. In fact,” his voice was low and hesitant. He focused on a spot on the floor, avoiding her inquisitive gaze. “Anakin was my Padawan learner.” “What’s that?” Obi-Wan began the process of explaining the Jedi Order and its workings; he even explained about the Sith and how they represented the dark side of the Force. At first, the Princess was quiet and only listened, but as she felt more comfortable with the Jedi, she began to ask question after question. “So my Dad is teaching me to be a Sith?” Leia looked out through the blinds, a sliver of light creeping up in the horizon, giving the building a slight glow. She looked so lost and confused. “I believe he is, yes.” Obi-Wan swallowed hard trying to believe his own words. The room was silent as Leia continued to look out into the city. Watching as the early morning traffic began to ever so slowly build. “Peace is a lie, there is only passion.” She began to whisper to no one in particular. “Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through my victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.” As she finished the code she turned to Obi-Wan. “What’s the Jedi code?” “There is no emotion; there is peace. There is no ignorance; there is knowledge. There is no passion; there is serenity. There is no chaos; there is harmony. There is no death; there is the Force,” Obi-Wan finished. His thoughts betrayed him as memories came flooding back – memories of Qui Gon and Mace, memories of teaching the younglings and Anakin, and memories of a time when he believed in the Code and the Order. He sat in silence for a moment collecting his thoughts. “Did you know my mother?” Leia asked softly, knowing that, with her father, it was a sore subject. “I did.” The Jedi smiled as he looked upon Padme’s daughter, they were so similar in many ways. “Senator Amidala was a kind generous human being, who fought battles for those who had no voice. She was forever trying to preserve democracy, and she was also a good friend.” “Mistress Leia,” came the calls of a frantic droid. “R2 are you sure you saw her come down that secret passage.” The excited beeps of the smaller droid echoed off the walls. “Oh, no,” Leia leaped off the cushion and ran out of the room; Obi-Wan quickly followed. “3PO, what are you doing here?” Leia asked in surprise as she rounded a corner. “Your Highness R2 noticed you had left the Palace earlier and – Master Kenobi!” 3PO gasped. “You’re alive!” Obi-Wan smiled at the droids as they came closer, “3PO, R2 it’s nice to see you again.” “I know Mistress Padme was very worried about you once the guards took you away,” 3PO stated. R2 beeped and whistled to get his counter parts attention. “Oh that’s right. Senator Amidala left you a message. Go ahead R2.” The small droid repositioned itself so everyone could see. The holo-projector flickered on, revealing a very pregnant Senator from Naboo. Obi-Wan, I pray this message finds you. The guards have taken you away and Anakin won’t tell me where they’re taking you. She paused and grabbed her swollen stomach, letting a small cry of pain escape her lips. Obi-Wan, the doctors have just told me I’m carrying twins. If I should die, please look after my Luke and Leia. I’m afraid Anakin will lead them down a path of darkness and destruction. They can restore the Republic and bring peace back to the galaxy. Their destiny is to undo the damage caused by their father, I know it. Help them Obi-Wan – you’re their only hope. The message ended and the group stood still for several moments, all eyes turned to the young Princess. Her eye’s still transfixed on the spot where her mother stood. “He lied,” she whispered. “Leia,” Obi-Wan reached for her only to have her pull back. “He said she wanted to be Empress,” her resolve slowly breaking as tears welled up in her eyes. “He lied!” she screamed. “He’s lied about everything hasn’t he?” Ignoring her struggles to stay out of his arms Obi-Wan bent down and pulled Leia into an embrace. Holding her tight to his chest he felt her hot tears dampen his sleeping shirt. Obi-Wan marveled at how well she fit in his arms, almost as if she was his own child. “Your father loves you Leia,” he whispered. “He’s ashamed of the things he’s done and I’m sure he’s too embarrassed to tell you.” “No.” She pulled back to look at Obi-Wan. Her cheeks tear stained and her face flushed, “He said Mom wanted to be Empress and that her dying wish was for me to be. He’s a Sith.” The young girl shook her head. “He doesn’t want to let go of his power, just like you said.” Obi-Wan gently pushed the hair out of Leia’s eyes and said in a soothing voice. “But remember what you told me yesterday. Your father wants to do the right things, I’m sure of it. He’s just so sad about your mother dying and losing his friends that he doesn’t know what to do.” Obi-Wan tried to comfort the child. “Obi-Wan,” Leia sniffled. “Can I be your Padawan? I want to be a Jedi, like Mom wanted.” “That’s too dangerous.” The Jedi tried to wipe the tears away from the Princess’ eyes. “Please,” the pleading in her voice tore at Obi-Wan’s heart. “We can meet in secret, no one will know.” “Your mother wanted me to protect you, not put you in danger,” Obi-Wan tried to reason with the girl. “How are you protecting me by doing nothing?” For a moment, Obi-Wan could have sworn he saw Padme standing before him. Leia’s big brown eyes were begging him to give in, but they were also trying to show strength. “Master Kenobi,” 3PO piped up. “R2 has pointed out that Mistress Leia’s bed room is directly over the secret passage and that a lift could be constructed from her closet to allow direct access to the tunnel.” The Jedi could see this was a battle he was going to lose. He hung his head a moment and let out a long breath. “How long will it take to construct this lift?” R2 was silent for a moment then whistled his response. “R2 believes that in order to keep it completely a secret it will take 3 weeks for him to construct – oh my I feel quiet devious,” 3PO sounded worried. “3PO you don’t have to help me if you feel it’s against your programming,” Leia sadly said. “Oh, your Highness you misunderstood me,” 3PO sounded cheerful again. “Senator Amidala gave R2 and I direct orders to help Obi-Wan in any way that we could once he made contact with you and Master Luke.” The droid paused. “Though Master Luke is quite taken with his father.” “We can’t tell Luke,” Leia breathed. “He believes everything Dad tells him.” Leia then looked off in the distance. “I have a bad feeling that he and I will have to fight each other one day.” Obi-Wan watched Leia for a moment, trying to figure out if she was having a vision or if it was just nervousness about keeping a secret from her twin. “Has anyone been able to sense your presence?” “No,” she mumbled. The Jedi Master tried to use the Force to feel her presence, at first he felt nothing, but then it happened like chasing a light in a dark tunnel. She was within his grasp for only a moment. “You could sense me couldn’t you,” Leia nearly burst with excitement. “It’s a sign or a vision or the Force telling us something!” “And what exactly is it telling us?” Obi-Wan tried to hide his amusement. “You’re the only one who has been able to feel my presence – ” “Only for a brief instant,” Obi-Wan cut her off. Leia was desperately pushing her case. “It’s a sign Obi-Wan! Dad’s never been able to sense my presence and Luke picks up on feels once in a while but that’s it.” Breathing a heavy sigh Obi-Wan finally conceded. “Until R2 has the lift constructed you only come here when 3PO says it’s safe. Understood?” Obi-Wan looked Leia in the eye so she knew he was serious. “Yes, Sir,” she nodded. “Good,” he smiled. A sense of excitement filled the Jedi Master. He was going to teach again and this time he would loosen the philosophies so the Princess wouldn’t suffer the same fate as Anakin. “Now then do we have time for a quick lesson?” The Jedi asked the golden droid. “I do believe we have a little time before her Highness must get back,” the droid stated. “Wonderful, first thing is you must understand that – ” “General Kenobi,” Cody called as he and several troops rounded the corner. “Cody, I’d like you to meet our latest secret,” Obi-Wan stood and shook the man’s hand. “Princess Leia Skywalker.” “Princess,” the troopers bowed as Cody took her hand and gave it a kiss. “Pleasure to meet you Cody,” Leia smiled before looking up at her new Master. “What do you mean, latest secret?” Obi-Wan and Cody exchanged looks before the Jedi answered. “I’ll explain more later, once your lift is installed.” “Mistress Leia, we should be leaving if we’re to sneak you back up to your room before anyone sees you,” 3PO said. “Ok,” the Princess couldn’t hide the disappointment in her tone. “I’ll see you soon my young apprentice,” Obi Wan said as he bent down. His comment made the Princess smile from ear to ear and before Obi-Wan knew what happened Leia was giving him a huge hug. On instinct Obi-Wan scooped Leia into his arms and returned the hug. “You promise,” Leia mumbled into his shoulder. “I promise,” Obi-Wan said while rubbing her back. They held onto each other a little bit longer, before he put her down. “Nice meeting you Cody,” Leia waved as she and the droids headed for the closet down the hall. “See you tonight Obi-Wan!” The Princess giggled before they rounded a corner. “I didn’t mean – ” Obi-Wan tried to shout after her but he knew it was too late. “This could be the break we’re looking for,” Cody said as he clapped Obi-Wan on the shoulder. “A direct link into the Imperial Palace.” “Slow down Cody,” he said still distracted by the events from earlier. “She’s eight years old and has just discovered her father has been lying to her. She’s questioning everything right now, even us.” He began to stroke his beard. “I’m not losing her the way I lost Anakin.” “She’ll discover what we’re doing at some point.” Cody’s tone was low and hushed. Even though his unit was in charge of all surveillance, he was still cautious. “I know, but for now we keep it to ourselves.” Obi-Wan matched Cody’s concerned tone. “I need to get in touch with Viceroy Organa, I have a message for Master Yoda.” “The Viceroy is still on Coruscant – you can meet with him in person if you’d like.” They turned another corner and approached a room that was bustling with activity. Maps of every kind were blinking, troopers were listening to different frequencies, and several holo-projectors were on, showing different planets. It was a small war room and two guards saluted the Jedi General as he walked in. “Good. If he can bring his son, I’d like to meet him as well. I’ve heard he’s taken over the Senate seat and that he’s gained a lot of respect within the Rebellion.” “Solo,” Cody smirked. “He’s a Corellian. They’re always up for a good fight.” They moved around to the back of the room. “I’ll have the meeting set up for this afternoon. Our agents tell me Bail wanted to meet before the vote anyway.” Cody then looked at Obi-Wan and realized he was still in his bedclothes. “Though I suggest you go get prepared for the day, sir. I can handle everything from here.” Turning a slight shade of pink, Obi-Wan quickly covered him self and started for the door. “How did we ever make it through the Clone Wars?” Obi-Wan joked over his shoulder as he left. -- An hour later, the Jedi and the upper ranking Clone Commanders stood awaiting the arrival of Viceroy Organa and Senator Solo. Every precaution was used to make sure no one was following them and to ensure safety once inside the Temple. The Spire was used for these types of meetings, allowing the group a more intimate atmosphere. “So, this is the legendary Jedi Council room?” Bail asked as he walked in, arm extended to greet his old friend. “Master Kenobi, it’s been a while.” “Two years at least,” Obi-Wan smiled as he turned his attention to Han. He shook the young man’s hand. To his surprise he felt a flicker of the Force within him. Obi-Wan made a mental note to keep an eye on Solo. His piloting skills were known throughout the Rebellion, and the Jedi now had a better understanding of why. “Senator Solo, I’ve heard the conflict on Corellia is subsiding. Any word from your parents?” “None so far, Sir.” Through the Force, Obi-Wan could feel Han’s uneasiness about the subject. One would never know it from looking at him though. His sabacc face was infamous among the Senators and known establishments on Coruscant. “I apologize for being so forward,” Obi-Wan said as he took his seat. “It’s quite all right,” Han tried to smile. “I am after all Corellian.” He paused. “All I ask is that you refrain from calling them my parents,” he said bitterly. “They don’t deserve that title.” “Han,” Bail soothed. “My father is in this room and my mother is back on Alderaan,” Han said in a low voice. “But we didn’t come here to discuss my parentage.” Sensing the need to change subjects, the Jedi proceeded. “Quite right. I wanted to speak with you both in person. I have some rather interesting news.” He couldn’t help smiling. “It seems there is a secret tunnel from the Imperial Palace to the Temple, and Princess Skywalker stumbled upon it the other day.” “Leia?” The concern in the young Senators voice surprised Obi-Wan. “Yes.” He paused and took a deep breath. “Anakin is training them to become Sith Lords, while at the same time grooming Leia to become Empress. The Princess seemed to be conflicted about this before she discovered the Temple and has since convinced me to become her Master in secret.” “Surely the Emperor will sense her deception,” Bail said. Obi-Wan shook his head before speaking, “That’s just it – no one can. Not even her twin brother.” “Is that normal for a Force-sensitive to be untraceable to fellow Force sensitives?” “Usually not. In fact I seem to be the only person who has been able to sense her through the Force . . .” he trailed off. Suddenly Obi Wan realized why Leia could not be sensed. “Senator, I need you to get a message to Master Yoda. 	Oh my... how interesting... Leia's entrance into this whole underground Rebellion that is growing seems to be sending a huge jolt into things. Fascinating... So now Artoo is going to build a lift inside Leia's closet that would take her directly to the Temple? gets an image of Leia the Cloaked Superheroine with her mentors Obi-Wan Kenobi on one side and her two robotic sidekicks, Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio on the other I scare myself sometimes. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Padmé had lived. What would have happened in the context of this story? Would she have tried to get into the Temple with the twins, perhaps to get Obi-Wan out and then let the four of them run from Anakin? Or would she have stayed? When both the Sith and Jedi Codes were recited one after another, I had a thought: Neither is completely right. Peace is possible, and emotion is important and shoudl not be buried within ourselves.
