Leia moved in and gave him a genuine hug and a kiss on the cheek. Without saying another word she left the room. Once the door had closed behind her she spoke again.
She's young, but she knows what her decision will do to her dad. Great update.

What a wonderful post! I love Leia's new found faith in her father, it should help her when she comes into her own. And the "finding the financial backers" sounds more than a little ominous! I hope that Leia remembers that she heard that!

DarthIshtar - Just send me a chappie when I'm having a bad day and you'll get a turn-around time like this again. Obi-Wan's fear of loving Leia and losing her was so powerful in the wake of ROTS. -- I always thought Obi-Wan and Leia would have a father dughter type relationship. Because Leia loves to learn, and I think that's just who she is no matter where she grew up. They make the perfect teacher student, plus Obi-Wan would open up more to having a little girl around and that what I love about this.

AngelQueen - Ah, so Leia understands that which still has to come. She sees that she will have to stand up and side with those who fight against her father. She doesn't like it, but she knows that if she is to save what is left of Anakin's soul, it will be necessary.

Leia's having bad dreams , Yoda's up to mischief, and Obi-Wan fears loving Leia.
Hm... I wonder if that fear comes from losing Anakin to the dark side. I rather think that in RotS, Obi-Wan was blind to Anakin's larger failings because he loved him so much. That's why I think it hit him so hard when he saw Anakin leading the Temple Massacre and kneeling before Palpatine. I don't think it ever really occurred to him that it was Anakin behind all of it. Now the thought of losing Leia as he lost Anakin is just unbearable. He probably feels that he doesn't have the strength to endure another loss like that.
Again, great job! Can't wait to see what else is in store for our characters!
AQ -- You always hit the nail on the head when commenting on things. Yes Obi-Wan loved Anakin, but this time around he's actually acknowledging his feelings and contemplating showing them. As I mentioned I think having a girl as a Padawan will really open Obi-Wan up.
Liesl - Little Leia is ready and willing to stand up against her father to do what's right...always knew she was a smart girl.

All right folks here's your next update. I just want to take a moment and thank those of you who nominated this story. It means a great deal that my work means something to you all, even if its just giving you a few chuckles for a couples minutes once a week.

Chapter 5
5 years later
The voices echoed off the large chamber as one alien langue blended into another. The floating disks zipped to and fro. It was enough to make a person dizzy. A young Princess watched with amusement as she let the Senators yell themselves hoarse. She kept her self occupied by letting her eyes drift to a certain Corellian Senator from Alderaan who remained seated throughout the course of the endless arguing. He almost looked as bored as she did. Yet there was a coolness about him, beyond the rugged looks and the crooked smile; he seemed to enjoy being in a fight.
“Will the Emperor’s council not answer?!” screamed a delegation.
All eyes now turned to the young Princess who was still watching a certain Senator. Leia turned a bright shade of pink as Senator Solo along with the rest of the Senate now looked to her for answers.
“Many years ago my father served in the Clone Wars,” she began.
The Princess slowly stood and tilted her head just high enough that she appeared regal and refined but not too high that she seemed snobbish. “He saw first-hand what war does to a person, a culture, and to a galaxy.”
The chamber was captivated; no one dared move nor speak for fear that she might stop and leave them in disarray. “This Empire was founded to keep the galaxy safe from bureaucracy and to allow us to take direct action when needed.”
“Then why are we even here?” the brash senator from Chandrila called out.
The sudden outburst distracted Leia and caused her to falter. “You’re here to help – ”
“You just claimed that we were the reason it was necessary to create this Empire, because the Senate can not make decisions.”
Flustered, Leia tried to counter but her mouth could find no words.
“She claimed the system failed, not you, dear Senator,” Han’s voice startled everyone. “It is by choice that her Highness has decided to sit with us.”
He paused. “To listen to our concerns, help us with our problems, and when we cannot make a decision, it is left to the Emperor.”
Han eyed the older woman for a moment. “Let us not forget that her Royal Highness is the heir apparent to the throne and that she wants to work towards a more functional government.”
“And with that our session is adjourned,” the foreman called out.
The Princess quickly docked her floating disk and began the long walk to her speeder, hoping to avoid as many people as possible along the way. Having her own squad of stormtroopers helped.
“I think you did quite well Your Highness,” 3PO said as he tried to keep up.
“Oh, 3PO, I was horrible,” Leia berated her self. “I got all of three sentences out before they went after me.”
“Yes but those sentences were so well articulated. Your mother would have been proud,” the droid said with pride. “I find it most interesting that you should begin attending Senate meetings at the same age your mother was elected Queen.”
“She was fourteen?”
“Yes, Naboo is known for grooming younger politicians,” 3PO stated.
“I bet she didn’t mess up,” Leia said, still angry with herself.
“Hey, Princess!”
“Oh, no,” Leia’s mood changed from morose to embarrassed within two seconds. “3PO, how do I look?”
“Beautiful as always, Ma’am, but.” He paused. “Why do you ask?”
“Your Highness,” Han shouted as he finally caught up to her.
“Senator Solo, I apologize for not thanking you – ” she tried to race through her words.
“Whoa, Your Worship,” Han said while putting up his hands.
Leia laughed nervously, “I’m sorry.”
“Its okay, Your Highness.” Han smiled. “Everyone gets nervous on their first day in there.”
“Were you nervous?” she asked.
“Of course; didn’t say anything for a week. And then when I did I sounded like a spacer.” He joked.
“You sounded very articulate today?”
“Don’t let that fool ya.” He winked. “I just wanted to stop by and tell you that you did a good job for your first day.”
“Thank you. Coming from you that means a lot,” Leia said as she blushed slightly.
Han took her hand and kissed it. “I am honored you hold me in such high esteem.” With a bow Han started to back away from her. “I look forward to seeing you again. Good day.”
“Good day to you.” Leia grinned uncontrollably.
She watched Han walk away a moment before she began to move to her speeder.
“Mistress Leia, I noticed you heart rate increased while talking to Senator Solo,” 3PO said as they entered her speeder.
“Shut up, 3PO,” Leia grumbled.
“It also seemed that blood rushed to your cheeks on several occasions,” the droid continued.
“3PO,” Leia growled.
“I didn’t notice any change in the Senator,” 3PO mumbled as an after thought.
“You didn’t?” She said without being able to hide her disappointment.
“No, but I could monitor him from now on if you’d like,” 3PO offered.
When the Princess didn’t say anything the droid spoke again. “He was watching you quite a bit during the session though.”
“He was,” she said, astonished that the Senator would even give her the time of day.
“Yes I believe he glanced up at you 47 times.”
Leia leaped out of the speeder as they arrived at the Imperial Palace, smiling ear to ear. She entered the main doors and noticed her brother coming from the garage area. Oil marks on his face and clothes with R2 in tow.
“Still working on the X-Wing?” She asked.
“Stabilizers keep coming lose,” Luke said while wiping his hands on a rag.
“Have you tried reinforcing them?” Leia said without missing a beat.
This caused R2 to beep and whistle. “R2 says that is what he’s been trying to tell Master Luke for an hour.”
“It’s slows it down if you do that!” Luke defended.
“By what? A heart beat?” Leia teased before becoming serious. “Luke we’re building these for pilots, a majority of whom won’t have the Force to guide them. They should be fast but safe.”
“I know, I know. You won’t let me forget it.”
He paused. “I can at least modify the test ship,” he said with a smirked as they started to walk the halls. “How was your first day?”
“Horrible, I got all of three sentences out.” Leia kicked the ground, still upset with herself. “What about you? How did the meeting with the Generals go?”
“I got all of three sentences out,” Luke said seriously for moment before they both erupted with laughter. “I get the feeling you and I aren’t going to be very popular for a while.”
“Not until we can prove to them we’re not just the Emperor’s kids,” Leia said with determination.
The twins headed for their father’s office to check in. Anakin was staring out the window as he often did when contemplating serious matters. A few wrinkles now creased his handsome brow but he was still the striking figure the twins had seen in holo-footage from the Clone Wars.
“Don’t think too hard,” Leia teased as they entered. “You might hurt something.”
Anakin smiled as he turned to face them. “R2 been telling you loose wire jokes again?”
“Only to cheer them up, Sir,” 3PO said as he and R2 stood next to the children.
“Shouldn’t this be a holo-drama? Two droids and a Dad,” Anakin said as he walked around his desk and sat on the edge.
“Yeah, a bad holo-drama,” Luke laughed.
“So, how did it go today?” Anakin asked the twins.
“Well,” they both said with uncertainty. “Ok.”
“Ok?” Anakin eyed them both. “Out with it.”
“I was able to get all of three sentences out, which 3PO tells me were very well articulated,” Leia said first.
“The Senate was quite captivated,” the droid added.
“And I got all of three sentences out that R2 says were the most intelligent,” Luke finished.
“So collectively my children only uttered 6 sentences in public.” Anakin scowled. “Did anyone bully you?”
Neither child answered. “Who was it?” Anakin asked a little more forceful.
“Well the Senator from Chandrila – ”
“Mon Mothma,” Anakin said with venom. “I’ll have a word with – ”
“No,” Leia said softly.
“I will not let them bully my children and not understand there are consequences,” Anakin fumed.
“That’s just what they want,” Leia kept her cool. “They want to see if you’ll come running every time we get into trouble.”
“We have to prove we deserve the titles you’re giving us,” Luke added. “A stormtrooper gains respect from his squad by showing he can handle the job, not just by talking about it.”
Anakin’s features soften as he listened to his children. “Since when did you two become so wise?”
“When you weren’t looking,” Luke joked. “I should probably wash up. I’ll see ya at dinner.”
He waved as he left the room.
“I think you’re starting to rub off on him,” Anakin said with admiration.
“Don’t sell yourself short,” Leia said as she took her fathers hand. “You look tired.”
Anakin squeezed her hand before letting go. He walked back around his desk and began to stare out the window again. “I’m fine.”
“No you’re not,” Leia’s concerned voice continued. “What is it?”
“What if the democracy we thought we were serving no longer exists, and the Republic has become the very evil we have been fighting to destroy?” Anakin’s voice was whimsical and distant.
“The Republic?” Leia echoed. “Dad what is it? What’s troubling you?”
“The Rebellion is beginning to gain support among certain systems, and the regional governors are concerned that if we don’t attack them now, they will become a bigger threat,” Anakin explained while keeping his eyes locked on a certain apartment building.
“We can’t!” Leia protested. “They have never attacked an Imperial Citizen, they’ve only attacked supply shipments and warehouse which had no persons in side. Attacking them would show that we’re the monsters.”
“I know,” Anakin said softly.
Leia was thrown by her father’s lack of temper but before she could say anything Anakin continued to speak.
“Intelligence has found their base.” He finally turned to his daughter. “We could end this before any Imperial Citizen is hurt.”
“By slaughtering them like animals!” Leia shouted.
“What would you have me do, Leia?!” Anakin sounded torn and depressed. “If they continue to grow, many lives will be lost when they do finally engage us. This could last decades.”
The Princess liked to think she knew all the answers. That she had studied more then any other politician or officer when it came to strategy. However, she could not argue with her fathers reasoning. By destroying the Rebellion here and now, he would be saving thousands of lives. She opened her mouth to speak but she could find no words.
“I’m not taking this lightly, Leia,” Anakin spoke. “I don’t have to make the decision right away. I have time to think it over.”
The young Princess just nodded her head and left with out saying another word. She remained quiet all through dinner and allowed Luke to talk with his father about different ideas for the new X-Wings. When she was alone in her room she walked out onto her balcony and watched as Coruscant came alive. She was faced with the toughest decision of her life, and for the first time she couldn’t go to her mentor for help. Obi-Wan still hadn’t told her fully about what he and Cody did, but she was sure they were connected to the Rebellion in some way.
So the Princess did what she always did when she needed to think. She changed into simple street clothes and threw on a robe, making sure to take her lightsaber in case of trouble. She walked back out onto her balcony and waited for a speeder to fly by. She gracefully leaped into the air and jumped from one speeder to another, until she was in the streets of Coruscant. She pulled the hood of her robe up and covered her face completely as she disappeared into the night.

 That is kind of funny how they are both frustrated by the same thing. I imagine that once they prove themselves they won't have that problem.
I loved how Leia was so flustered by Senator Solo. And if he did glance up at her 47 times, I guess he is smitten with her too.
It's good that her and Anakin have developed a better relationship. It seems like they have an easier time talking now, though they will never agree on how to deal with the rebels.

Oh, why do I get the feeling a certain Corellian Senator is involved in the Rebellion, which will only make the path to true love even more rocky? 14, huh? The author must move this forward four years, and quickly!

*grins* The twins are going through the growing pains in their specific areas! That was an excellent portrayal, Irish! Mon Mothma seems to be rather cranky these days, picking on Leia before she can even make her point. Kudos to Han for sticking up for her and effectively shutting Mon up. 
And Leia's got a crush! *is absolutely tickled* This is so adorable to see! Teenage Leia's got her eye on the older Alderaani Senator! Here's hoping Dartb Daddy Dearest doesn't find out! I don't think Han needs to have a run in with him and then a dip in carbonite! Definitely not good for Vader's diplomatic relations with both Alderaan and his daughter!   
I'm also glad that Luke and Leia got Anakin to hold off on going at the Senators and the Generals. They do need to prove themselves to them, and giving the impression that they run to DDD every time they have a problem is not the way to do it. Excellent move on their parts.
Leia's conversation with her father kind of gave me the chills, though. The Rebellion's fast becoming enough of a bother that Anakin's considering attacking them. And if the Death Star's operational now, this could be very bad.  Here's hoping that if it is, Tarkin is at a posting as far away from it as possible. *glares at Tarkin* Let's not go blow up Alderaan this time!

I really like how Leia's character is progressing. Let's just hope she turns out a little bit stronger than Padme so she can save Anakin when the time comes.

So there's a rebellion brewing...yay!
And I'm glad to see Luke and Leia want to prove themselves rather than have Anakin do everything for them. That speaks well of their character.
Now I can comment on Sentor Solo...he really is the new black.
