Alishu06 - YAY first post! It was really good, liked to see Leia kick butt, and Han lol can't wait for more!!!!! -- I'm all about Leia kicking butt. I think she would have made a great Jedi if she trained under Yoda. wink

LadyLunas - I really like how you're tying everything together in the story.

Leia helps a young boy and winds up discovering that Han is doing something apparently illegal. Should the Rebellion be mentioned or is that just a wild guess of mine?

I loved Leia acting the compassionate Jedi and healing the child. And now she's planning on traveling to Alderaan.

I can't wait to see what happens next. You're doing a very good job with this story.
-- Thank you so much. I'm having a lot of fun with this story and yes the Rebellion might be a good thing to mention when thinking about Han and the chip. batting

Lady_Jade - Hmmm, interesting turn of events. If Han is working with, or is somehow connected with Boba....does that mean Boba is a good guy?

but just wondering....how old is Leia now?
-- Leia is 14 and Boba works for whoever pays him a lot and since Han has money he can pay Boba a hefty sum.

Liesl - Leia the Jedi healer. That just fits perfectly with Leia's personality.

Han saving Leia was reminiscent of the Death Star rescue - and just as entertaining to read.

I can't wait to see what happens with Alderaan.

(And Leia's fourteen now, right?)
-- Correct Leia is 14. Wow you're right about the Death Star scene - didn't even see that. Though this scene was a little more emotional because of Leia's interest in Han.

Golden_Jedi - Ooooh, missed one and almost missed the second!

Mmm, I guess Han is paying so much attention to her because his involvment with Bail and Obi-Wan, because I can't believe he's such a craddle-robber! Just kidding, this is excellent!
-- He's just protective of her. In that very first meeting I think he found her entertaining so he's just keeping an eye on her. However he'll be more protective in a few chapters after an encounter with a certain Jedi Master.

DarthIshtar - I looooooove that part. There was such versatility in her character. -- Wait which part did you like? Or did you like the whole thing?

Arkady - Oh that was an awesome post! I love the banter between the two of them. It's so perfect.

Arkady
-- I'm all about the banter!

ccp - This is great. -- blush Thanks.

Amidala66 - I agree with Arkady. I think that the banter between Leia and Solo is great. I love where you are going with this story and it is only the beginning of it. -- Well hopefully I can keep this puppy up to the high standards happy

Kestrel_Kenobi - Great post - I loved all the action. It's good to see that Leia can look after herself, though I did feel kind of sorry for Han.

Interesting ending - I look forward to the next chapter!
-- Yeah Han's just misunderstood at the moment but things will get better. Don't worry.

SarahKjrsten - I found this story today, read it, and then went and registered so I could tell you how much I'm enjoying it so far, and I can't wait to see what happens! -- WOW I'm extremly humbled and hopefully I won't dissapoint.

Chapter 7

Normally on a sparring day, one would see the seamless flow between Master and Padawan, an eloquent dance of sabers weaving around them in a spectacle of light. It was something everyone looked forward to, because the experience of watching two warriors lose themselves in the rhythmic pace of combat was spiritual. Yet today something was different. The Padawan’s actions were forced and not fluid, thus resulting in the Master trying everything to help focus the child.

“Remind me again why your father allowed you a blue saber?”

Obi-Wan’s tone was beginning to get on Leia’s nerves. He had been trying to goad her into losing her temper, but today she was not going to fall for it, especially when she had so many other things on her mind.

“Oh, wait. I remember. Because you told him the blue saber was much prettier than the red,” Obi-Wan said while slashing down at her.

Leia anticipated the action and blocked him, but instead of pressing the attack, she flipped backwards to give herself space. This caused Obi-Wan to shut off his lightsaber, a disapproving look on his face.

“I opened myself up three times and you never advanced,” Obi-Wan said, exasperated.

“You were trying to trap me,” Leia’s annoyed tone filled the room as she flicked her wrist shutting off her saber.

The room now fell silent. The group of clone troopers who had been watching slowly shuffled out, sensing the need to give the Jedi their privacy. The Princess walked over to her bag and grabbed a towel and began to wipe the sweat from her face. Obi-Wan cautiously came up behind her.

“What is it?” his tone much softer.

The Leia’s shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry Obi-Wan. I’ve just got a lot on my mind that’s all.”

Obi-Wan now stood next to her, an uncomfortable expression on his face as he stared out the window. “I know this is a time of change,” his voice was unsteady, “but I’m here if you want to talk.”

He gulped. “About anything.”

Leia couldn’t suppress her smile. She had noticed him spending more time in the Library, looking at books related to female Padawans and teenage humanoids. “Have you been reading those self-help books again?”

“They are not self-help books,” Obi-Wan snorted as his head snapped to look at her. “They are tools to help Masters guide their Padawans through these difficult years.”

“Uh huh,” Leia laughed. “So what would this tool tell you to do in a situation like this?”

“Well.” Obi-Wan turned back to the window. “Feelings for the opposite gender play a big role in your life at the moment.”

Obi-Wan peeked out of the corner of his eyes to see her reaction as he continued, “Is there anyone in particular you would like to talk about?”

Still amused, Leia decided to play along to make her Master feel better about himself. “Not at the moment.”

Obi-Wan let out a breath but failed to shield his mind properly while thanking the maker for not having to deal with the issue.

“I heard that,” Leia snickered.

Obi-Wan eyed her. “Intruding on my thoughts?”

“Didn’t have to do much intruding on that one,” Leia gave a sassy response. “Any force-sensitive could have picked up on it.”

Obi-Wan turned a slight shade of pink as he glanced down at his feet before looking back up at her. “What is troubling you?”

A wave of guilt washed over the Princess as her thoughts drifted to the information her father had given her in private the day before. Her heart was conflicted as to whether she should betray her father and help her mentor or let hundreds, possibly thousands of innocent people die. The choice seemed obvious yet something was holding Leia back from confiding in Obi-Wan. Once she went down the path of spying for the Rebels or whoever it was that Obi-Wan and Cody helped when they thought she wasn’t looking, she couldn’t turn back. It wasn’t until she felt a warm hand on her shoulder that the Princess realized she had been lost in thought.

“Nothing,” she whispered as she looked away. “It’s nothing.”

“Leia.”

His voice held all the kindness and love in the world, which broke the Princess’ heart further. He was more than just a mentor; Leia considered him a second father. If anything were to happened to him she would be inconsolable.

“I’m worried about you,” he continued.

Without thinking Leia, moved in and gave him a hug. It had taken a lot for her to break down his walls regarding showing emotion, but now the Jedi understood how much encouragement a young person needed.

“Obi-Wan,” Leia said as she pulled back and looked up at him. “Do you trust me?”

“I trust you with my life.” He held on to her shoulders. “You know that.”

The Princess took a deep breath before uttering her next response. “Then why haven’t you told me about what you and Cody do here? I’m not a little girl any more, Obi-Wan. You don’t have to protect me.”

Obi-Wan turned away from her and placed his palms on the window ledge to steady himself. “It is a more complicated question than you think, Leia. I put many others’ lives at stake along with my own by answering honestly.”

Leia tried to hide the hurt in her eyes so she turned back to her bag and placed the towel back inside it. “Since you cannot answer that question, I’ll ask another.” She kept her back to him. “How do you know if doing the right thing is really the right thing?”

“I don’t understand.”

Leia slowly turned to face him. “Is it right to destroy lives to prevent further loss? You were a General. Is it right to send a certain group of soldier’s to their death to prevent the rest from dying?”

Obi-Wan’s features darkened. “War can make you do things you never thought you were capable of.” Obi-Wan took a step closer to Leia. “I felt the loss of every trooper under my command. I might not have showed it on the field of battle or to your father but there wasn’t a night that went by when I didn’t feel people becoming one with the Force.”

He took a moment to compose himself. “No lives are worth taking; if death is the only solution you can think of, than you haven’t thought hard enough.”

He paused for a moment and let out a sad laugh. “At least that’s what your mother would have said.”

“I wish I knew her,” Leia regretfully said.

Obi-Wan brushed a hair out of the young girl’s face. “All you have to do is look in the mirror.”

Embarrassed, Leia looked down at her hands for a moment. “I’m – uh – leaving for Alderaan later today.”

Obi-Wan gave a mock hurt look. “And when were you planning on telling me?”

“I just did,” Leia said as she playfully slapped his arm.

“Doing research with Senator Solo, are we?” Obi-Wan arched his eyebrow in a mischievous manner.

“Force, no,” the Princess spit out.

She noticed the questionable look Obi-Wan was giving her. “He and I are not on very good terms at the moment.”

“Oh.”

“I just need to get away from Coruscant for a bit,” Leia said as she slung her bag over her shoulder. “Would you like me to take anything to Master Yoda?”

“Cody’s men will take care of it,” Obi-Wan said as he led her out of the sparring room. “And I do trust you, but if somehow you were caught with the data pad or anything else that linked you to what we do . . .”

The Jedi stopped dead in his tracks. “I could never live with myself if your father ever did anything to harm you.”

Touched, Leia gave him a quick hug and whispered in his ear, “I love you too, Obi-Wan.”

She turned and headed for the closet, shouting over her shoulder, “I’ll see ya in a couple of days!”

Several hours later, she was standing in the hangar of the Imperial Palace, waiting for her father and the final clearance to leave. She watched as her brother was carefully giving an explanation on how to handle the prototype aircraft.

“What’s going on?” Leia asked as she walked over to him.

“The Navy is preparing for some type of assault and they want to use the X-Wing,” Luke said with disdain. “I should be the one piloting it, but no.”

“What was their excuse this time?” she asked.

“I’m too valuable to be put on the front lines like that,” Luke snorted and tossed a hydrospaner to the ground. “I just want to know what it feels like.”

“I thought you’ve flown this thing?”

“In test simulations and around Coruscant once or twice, but . . .” He began to run his hand down the length of the nose. “It’s not the same. I’m not making a difference sitting here in a hangar.”

“I know how you feel,” Leia said while walking on the other side of the ship following her brother.

“So where ya headed anyway?”

“Alderaan.”

Luke’s head peaked around the wing of the aircraft to look at her. “Really?”

“Yeah,” Leia gave him a curious look. “Why?”

“Nothing,” Luke said too quickly as he ducked back behind the rear of the X-Wing.

Leia quickened her pace to catch up with him and looked him dead in the eye. “Luke? You’re hiding something and I don’t need the Force to tell me that.”

Luke looked around then suddenly grabbed Leia and dragged her behind a large stack of crates. “Rumor has it,” he whispered quickly before she could ask any questions, “that Bail Organa might be somehow involved with the Rebellion.”

“Luke, that rumor has been floating around forever. Intelligence has never been able to prove anything,” Leia said adamantly.

“I know, it’s just . . .” Luke looked around again. “Dad’s told you about the possible strike against the Rebels, right?”

“Yeah. He has.”

“I’m not thrilled with the idea either,” Luke matched Leia’s forbidding tone. “Besides. Senator Solo and Viceroy Organa have always been good to you.”

It took Leia a moment to realize that Luke was trying to protect her. It was something the twins always did but never openly admitted. Their father was never home enough to truly get to know them, so they had to act like parents to each other.

“I think Intelligence is using your trip to try and spy on him,” Luke breathed. “I want you to take R2 along and have him scan the ship and all of your clothes for bugging devices. I’ve given him a recent diagnostic along with 3PO. They’re both at peak condition.

Completely shocked, Leia tripped over her words. “Th-Thank you, but why are you –”

“Because I think the only person who can really bring peace back to the Empire is you,” Luke was dead serious. “But Viceroy Organa is the key.”

“Luke! Leia!” Ankin’s voice boomed.

Luke continued to give her an intense stare, “I don’t need to know everything you do, but as long as you tell me it will be alright, I’ll never question it.”

“It will be alright,” Leia said with confidence before they walked around the crates.

R2 and 3PO were making their way up the ramp as the twins approached. Anakin was followed by Tarkin and several other officials, thus causing Luke to scowl. However, Leia was the constant politician. She smiled and greeted all of them and thanked them for coming.

“We hope you enjoy your trip to Alderaan. Maybe you’ll discover why it is considered a jewel among the Core Worlds?” Tarkin gave a sly smile.

Leia matched it with an even bigger grin. “Why, Grand Moff, the way you talk one would think we were spying on Viceroy Organa.”

Luke nearly choked trying to suppress a laugh. Leia took a step closer and made sure her father was listening.

“I am not a puppet for you to use,” she said in a low harsh tone. “If I find any evidence that any of my belongings have been tampered with in order to gather information on Bail Organa, I will personally make it my mission to expose you and anyone involved. Is that clear?”

“Perfectly, Your Highness,” Tarkin snarled before giving a small bow.

“Don’t forget,” Leia said before turning to her father. “I’ll know if you’re lying.”

“What was that about?” Anakin whispered as he led her away from the group of generals and Moffs.

“Nothing,” Leia smirked as she took her father’s arm.

“You causing trouble?” Anakin chuckled.

She reached up and gave him a hug. “Not yet.”

“Please be careful,” Anakin squeezed harder as he spoke.

“I will.”

Kissing him on the cheek she stepped out of the hug.

The twins embraced but did not speak. As Leia walked up the ramp she turned to see her brother and father waving and smiling back at her. Luke gave a small nod of his head while Anakin gave her wink. The Princess looked down at two of the three most important men in her life. All of whom were counting on her to do the right thing, yet each had their own definition of what the right thing was.

Hmm. What will happen if that rumor happens to be true... thinking

With Leia going to Alderaan, I wonder if she'll get involved with the Rebellion herself.

I love the update!
