Notes: Inspired by much talked about AU of a love affair between Obi-wan and Padme
This is my second story on this board... I'm still writing a much liked "Unfolding Romance" so I may not be posting a lot right away, but posts will pick up once I'm done with my other story.
A Dying Love
War is over for the galaxy, but not for two lovers.
Chapter One: Fast Goodbyes
The slums of the lowest streeets of Coruscant were crowded with people. That did not matter to Obi-wan Kenobi. All that mattered was her. Padme Naberrie Amidala. The love of his life. No matter how many people he dodged, no matter how far he had to run, on his life, he would get to the one he loved. Padme was indeed in grave danger.
With the Republic in ruins, the build-up of an Empire had already begun, all under the demise of Darth Vader. No one in the Senate had ever heard of the Sith until today. Obi-wan and Padme knew more than the cover story. They knew Vader, or what he once was all too well.
Obi-wan was close to her apartment now, but still was he sprinting full speed, charging a Force jump to reach her verdana. He leapt above the mixed races of people, above the ruckus of Coruscant and grabbed onto the edge of the steps. A scream of agonizing pain escaped his mouth as a probe droid's blaster fire hit him in the left shoulder. His grip was getting weaker and weaker as sweat trickled down his face.
Just then, a blaster shot hit the droid, splitting the assassin apart as it fell into the depths below. Padme rushed to the verdana's edge and grasped her lvoer's hands, pulling him up with all she had.
"Bail," she cried, "Get your speeder ready!" The Alderaanian Senator ran off in compliance to his friend's pleas. He, too, knew of Vader and what he used to stand for. Padme turned her attention back to her love and winced at the wound that formed. Obi-wan smiled as Padme cradled his head in her lap.
"Padme..." he breathed, "I love you..." Tears spilled from her eyes.
"Oh... shut up..." she whispered as they passionately kissed each other. Obi-wan became more alert about his surroundings and sat up.
"Padme..." he began, "They weren't here, were they? Ana-" He stopped himself. Anakin was no more; no matter how hard it was to believe that his brother and friend could turn this dark, it was true to no end.
"Vader," the Jedi corrected himself, "is searching for the last of the Jedi, Padme. To annihilate the remnants of the Order." The Senator grabbed his arm hurriedly as she saw Organa's speeder approaching.
"We have to get you off this planet," Padme gasped,"before it's too late... hurry." Obi-wan refused to climb into the speeder. He still needed to warn his love of something more terrible.
"Master Kenobi, we must be pressing on before the Clones discover you here." Bail informed him as the Coruscanti sun made its way above the towering skyscrapers. Dawn was approaching sooner than expected. These citizens couldn't notice the Jedi, since many did hte bidding of the Empire out of fear and it would result in Obi-wan's death.
"Padme, you have to come with me or he'll take you... please... I beg you..." Obi-wan pleaded, eyes showing fear for her life.
"No," Padme reluctantly replied, "He will not harm me, Obi, for he loves me too much." Obi-wan was getting frusturated.
"Padme," he retorted with an irate tone, "That was Anakin; this is Vader. He will hurt people to bend them to his will."
"Obi-wan, you have to save yourself... it will look too suspicious if I disappear, too..." she begged as she cupped his head in her soft hands. Grieving tears slid down his flustered cheeks. Why did it hav eto be like this?!
"I won't give up without a fight..." she whispered soothingly into her lover's ear as he sat down hesitantly next to Bail.
"Here... remember me..." Padme slipped a lock of her curls into his hand.
"I won't need this, love..." Obi-wan softly cried. Senator Amidala heard Clone Troopers trying to break through her apartment door.
"I love you, Padme... I do..." Obi-wan croaked as he knew it was time to part, maybe forever. The punding was geting fiercer. There wasn't much time.
"Know this, Obi-wan Kenobi," She supressed unrelentless sobs, "No matter what happens... you have my heart... I love you..." Padme and Obi-wan leaned in for what they believed to be a last kiss, a farewell.
"Go!" she ordered as she heard troopers marching throughout her home. Padme clutched the blaster in her hands, while she wiped away the last tears that fell. Organa and her soulmate were gone, fleeing to somewhere safe. She was on her own.
Master Kenobi finally let the wall that held out all emotions crumble under the tremense weight of feelings that pressured his heart as they sped away from his souldmate and wept uncontrollably. He wept for Padme. Him. Their lfie. The galaxy. Every living being in the universe. But most of all, he wept for her as she was probably meeting her death.

YAY, its here, see, told you I would read and I’ve been waiting for this.
Anyway, this start was amazing, and it was all very interesting, but I just loved it.

Yay it's up sooner than I expected! I thought you wanted to finish Unfolding Romance first, but I'm very clad that this is up!!
Pfeeeeww, I don't know what to say....this is such a different road to me...for me Anakin and Padmé just belong together, Vader or not. And I'm sorry but it makes me hate Obi-Wan in this. I'm sure that...well hopefully I'll get over it and I decide that, in this it might be better if it's Obi-Wan and Padmé but...it just doesn't really fit in my dictionary. A/P FOREVER!!!
So, that was the first thing I had to say. Nevertheless, this was a great post especially to start with. I'm sure the Obi-Wan/Padmé will get very interesting. I can't wait for what will follow, I am extremely curious.

Princess_Elisabeth I knew you would be like that, Lizzy!!! I'm A/P Forever, too, but I wanted to experiment... it feels very different... I want to write Anakin instead of Obi-wan sometimes... hee hee... you won't really see Obi-wan a whole lot anymore... not until the end, I think... it's more of V/P now... This first post came to me so easily and most of you were really excited about it so I decided to post it, but my main focus will be Unfolding Romance until it's done, which may be soon... Thanks for replying!

Hey all!!! I've been writing the next chapter, but this fic is going to be on hiatus until I'm almost done with my other fic, Unfolding Romance... For me, focusing on one fic is the best thing to do... even though it's summer... Yup... somewhat, to a point... it's going to be bizarre and Vader is going to be a little happy towards the middle, but then it's not going to be a good turnout!
