Prologue

Dantooine

Kerde Fuigne ran as fast as his legs would carry him, he couldn’t see who was chasing him, but he could sense him in the Force. Kerde reached out with his senses, he couldn’t pin point his enemy’s location, but he felt a dark presence start to gain on him and start to surround him. The last thing he had expected was to meet a dark Force user.

The Sith were destroyed around sixteen years ago, aboard the Death Star, when Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker had destroyed Darth Sidious. And nothing had been heard from them since.

Until now.

He kept running, calling on the Force to ease his pain and to boost the performance of his body. He knew full well that the Jedi council must be told about this. Fear started to creep into his mind, but he pushed it aside and called on the Force to help him run faster.

He could see his ship now, it wasn’t too far away. He had nearly made it when a tree fell across his path. He just about managed to leap over, when he heard the snap hiss of a lightsaber to his left.

The last thing he saw was the face of his attacker before he sank into oblivion.

Coruscant – The Jedi Temple

Yoda sat alone in his meditation chamber. He was deep in the Force, soaking in it’s eddies, allowing it to take his mind and soul where it wished. It was so peaceful, it had been described by the initiates as floating on top of land flying at high speed over vast landscapes. But suddenly something wrenched his attention away. He felt fear, and moments later a searing pain. Yoda reached out.

Something had happened to Kerde. Moments later, Anakin Skywalker was at Yoda’s door. Yoda’s facial expression told Anakin all he needed to know. “You sensed it too?”

Hi guys,

Many thanks for your comments. I felt that I couldn't leave the story where I did, and I really wanted to develope the relationships further, however after I wrote the what turned out to be the last chapter, I felt it was better to do so in an original story rather than an AU sense.

Here's the first chapter proper. Please feel free to comment, good or bad. And should anyone want to be on the PM list when I update, then please feel free to let me know.

Chapter 1.

Obi-Wan Kenobi stood motionless on one of the many balconies that were dotted around the Jedi Temple. He cast his eyes over the cityscape of Coruscant, watching as the air taxis and transports flew about their business.

Since the battle, and subsequent destruction of Sidious and his Death Star, the galaxy knew peace for the first time in some thirty years. There were a few skirmishes for a time after the fall of the Sith, but generally everyone was able to go about their business in safety. Space piracy was at an all time low, and whenever a civil war was about to break out, things would soon change when the Jedi arrived to arrange a treaty.

Obi-Wan reflected on these thoughts as he controlled his breathing. After the battle against Sidious, he began to wonder where the Jedi went wrong; how could they not sense the Sith Lord while he was under their noses? He along with Anakin, Yoda, Mace Windu and Plo Koon took a considerable amount of time in isolation to think and meditate on the matter. The general consensus was that the Jedi became complacent. The masters decided that it was time to train the Jedi in a new way.

There was a struggle at first naturally. Some Jedi didn’t really like the new teaching, and thus left the Order, to find their own paths. Others embraced the new style of teaching, and excelled.

Obi-Wan sighed, it was a difficult transition for him as well, to relearn much of what he already knew, and to unlearn all the bad habits that he had. The rough edges were knocked off him in the last few years.

A smile crept on to his face as he sensed a young presence trying to sneak up on him. So much like his father thought Obi-Wan wryly to himself. So Obi-Wan leaped up on to a ledge to await his “intruder”.

Obi-Wan had been training Luke for three years now, and he was amazed at how similar he was to his father. But there was something pure about Luke. There was no hint of darkness in him, no anger, bitterness or hatred. He always was a sweet young boy. The crèche masters always marvelled at his kindness and compassion. But like his father, he had a playful and mischievous side which he would exercise with alarming regularity.

Obi-Wan thought back to the time that Luke was around six years old, when he, Leia and Krioith somehow managed to levitate master Yoda in the saber training room. His shins took quite a beating from the diminutive Jedi master, and he was certain that Anakin was responsible for putting Luke up to it.

And if that wasn’t enough, in the middle of one of master Windu’s lectures on saber styles, Luke and Krioth went into a fit of giggles. And when asked what was so funny, Luke between giggles described how the sun shined off the top of the Korun master’s head. The class degenerated into chaos after that. Obi-Wan shook his head gently. Just like his father.

Obi-Wan looked down and smiled as Luke looked everywhere for him. He knew he could sense him, but he couldn’t pin point where. Obi-Wan dropped himself from the ledge and ignited his lightsaber. It was all Luke could do to avoid being chopped in half.

“I thought I had you that time uncle Obi.” Luke replied. Obi-Wan patted him on the shoulder, “you’ll have to have Master Vos or Master Tholme help you with your stealth young Luke, and what have I told you about calling me uncle Obi? You’re not six years old any more Luke.” Luke somewhat wounded, “but there’s no one around.” He protested innocently. Obi-Wan shook his head, “I know, but remember, when we’re around the other masters, it’s master ok?” Luke did a small mock bow, “as you wish master.” “And when they’re not about, call me Obi-Wan.”

Luke was a fine young man of sixteen. He was powerfully built just like his father, but even so, in his lightsaber duels; he fought with such grace and panache that his father never had. He never relied on brute force. It was plain that he modelled himself on Obi-Wan, but whereas Obi-Wan hated flying, Luke like his father thrived on it. The common perception was that he was a better pilot at sixteen than his father ever was.

His hair was a bit lighter than Padme’s, but there was no mistaking the deep blue eyes he inherited from his father. He turned the head of many a girl in the Jedi temple, but he never used that for his own gain. But he did use them to set up some of his friends with them.

“What were you thinking about master?” Luke asked, aware that a master walked in the corridor behind them. Obi-Wan continued to look ahead, “I assume you heard about Kerde?” Luke nodded, “who could have done such a thing? I mean, no one hates the Jedi now do they uncle Obi? I mean Obi-Wan,” Obi-Wan’s head dropped somewhat, “I’m afraid Luke, that no matter what we do, there are those who will always despise us. In spite of our best efforts.” Luke nodded quietly, “But if why can't people agree to disagree, surely the galaxy is big enough to hold everyone's opinions and allow them to live in peace.” Obi-Wan nodded, “You have to wonder sometimes Luke, if it’s big enough to hold all our opinions, why is there war?” The last thing Luke wanted was a lecture on philosophy so he decided a rapid change of subject was required.

“I think it’s time we went to eat Obi-Wan, coming?” Obi-Wan nodded wearily, and lead the way and they headed off for the cafeteria.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The dining hall was a bit fuller of Jedi now, than it was sixteen years ago. In those days, so many were killed during the Clone Wars, that the numbers dropped into the hundreds. But now the vast hall was full of beings once again, with the loud noise of chatter and banter echoing through the grand hall.

Luke chose to sit with Krioth and a group of other boys, whereas Obi-Wan went to sit with Anakin and Mace Windu. It was obvious there was a heated discussion going on.

“I’m telling you Mace it’s her. She’s been gone for too long now, we’ve heard nothing from her…” a look from Mace warned Anakin to say no more, as Obi-Wan sat down. “It’s ok, you can carry on, don’t mind me.” Anakin looked ashamed, “I’m sorry Obi-Wan, has there been any news?”

It was four years since Callista disappeared in the Outer Rim. She was sent on a mission to investigate a group of bounty hunters who were kidnapping children from the core worlds and selling them into slavery. But something went badly wrong, and she wasn’t heard from since.

“Nothing, I can’t even sense her in the Force.” Mace nodded sagely, “How are the kids bearing up?” Obi-Wan sighed, the last four years were hard on him. “Well Krioth is doing well, he’s focussing on growing stronger in the Force, but I’m worried about Lelia, she’s become something of a recluse, she won’t talk to anyone, not even me. It’s like she blames me for her mother’s disappearance.” Anakin nodded gravely, “did Republic intelligence find anything?” he asked somewhat cautiously, Mace shook his head quietly, “the last we heard was that she was on Nal Hutta, she managed to track the bandits there, after that…” He didn’t need to finish the sentence.

"Do you think she could have turned Obi-Wan?" Anakin asked very nervously, it was the last thing any Jedi wanted to face, the turning of a Jedi to the dark side. Especially a loved one. Obi-Wan shook his head, "we would have sensed it. Sidious is no longer here to blind us the way he did." "I agree," said Mace, "it's entirely possible that she has been captured, but turned? Never."

Obi-Wan’s brow furrowed in concentration, “I don’t know what to do, I need to be here for my children, and I also have my duty to the Jedi. But I want to find her Mace, I want to bring her back to her children.” Mace nodded in understanding.

Mace himself was left heartbroken recently himself. He became close to a young Jedi called Juylu Stroith, they had been seeing each other for around two years, and just announced their intention to be bonded, however two months before their big day, Juylu disappeared and was not seen again. At least until her body was dumped from a passing speeder at the entrance to the Jedi Temple. They never found who the speeder pilot was, or who killed her.

“I know how you feel Obi-Wan.” Mace looked into Obi-Wan’s deep brown eyes, “I’ll tell you what my friend. When we next convene the council, we’ll put a motion to give you a leave of absence. On compassionate grounds…” Obi-Wan cut him off, “my calling is to serve…” but Mace cut him off this time, “to the Force. Yes I know Obi-Wan, but I also know how much Callista meant to you. Listen, we saw what happened when we didn’t allow attachments before,” he looked at Anakin as he said this, “and neither I nor the council are going to risk the same happening again.”

Obi-Wan looked up into Mace’s eyes expecting to find a sternness there, but instead he found compassion, and concern. “And besides,” he continued, “I don’t think Anakin would let you go on your own. After all, someone needs to take care of you.” Obi-Wan laughed at that, as it was obvious that Anakin was only waiting for the right opportunity to offer going on another deadly mission.

“You’re right Mace” Anakin replied, “after all I’ve not practiced some of my unique rescues in years.” But then his face turned serious, “but believe me Obi-Wan, I would walk into the fires of Mustafar with you if I had too. You only need to say what you need and you’ll have it.” Anakin rested his arm on Obi-Wan’s shoulder, his eyes reddened with unshed tears that threatened to overwhelm him.

Anakin could sense Obi-Wan fighting to control his emotions, so he rapidly changed the subject. “In the mean time, it’s been too long since you’ve been over for dinner. How about tonight, bring the kids,” Obi-Wan faced his young protégé, He really has become a fine Jedi Obi-Wan thought to himself. “Thanks Anakin, but this is something we must try and get through as a family.”

Anakin wouldn’t take that response, “but we are family Obi-Wan, we’re brothers, if not by blood, then certainly in the Force. How about it Master Windu? Can you get Master Yoda to come as well? I’m sure I can get Padme to rustle up some of that green gloop…yiaaaoowww” He rubbed his shin furiously as Master Yoda hopped onto a stool next to Mace. “Hmmmm, bring my own green gloop I shall young Anakin. Heh heh heh” He said giving Anakin a toothy grin. “Fine,” Anakin replied, “come for around seven?” All nodded their ascent.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The guests arrived right on time. The Skywalker’s moved from their penthouse suite on 500 Republica to a more comfortable place for a family that was within easy reach of the Jedi Temple and the Senate.

It was a great deal bigger than the previous dwelling, with two grown up children who could no longer share a bedroom, it needed to be. There were two spacious rooms for Luke and Leia, as well as a master bedroom for Anakin and Padme.

One only needed to stand outside Luke’s door without going into the room to realise that he was his father’s son through and through, as one could smell the engine coolant, and control line hydraulic fluids that wafted under the door.

And if one was brave enough to venture inside, they would not have been able to see the floor for all the spare parts and various holodisks that were strewn across the bedroom floor. Padme gave up a long time ago, trying to get Luke to clean out his room, and when she did it, you would have sworn that a Bantha had been in there and licked the place clean. Leia’s room on the other hand, was always tidy, neat and everything in it’s place.

The dining room was a modest affair, it was adjacent to the open plan kitchen, so Padme would be able to entertain her guests as she cooked. It allowed for conversation to flow much more freely.

The guests were all sat in what could be called the lounge after a sumptuous meal that Padme prepared.

Motherhood was the making of her. She learned with the help of her handmaidens how to cook, care for the babies, shop for the various bits and bobs that they needed. She knew all of this before hand of course, but she wanted the handmaidens to feel part of the family. By now, some had families of their own, and they dropped by occasionally to be entertained by Padme, along with stories of Luke’s escapades.

Lelia hardly spoke all night. Anakin tried to engage her in conversation, as did Padme and Leia, she only said enough to be polite. However when Luke spoke to her, she blushed a bright shade of crimson, and unknown to her, all at the dinner table picked up on this. Anakin said to Obi-Wan through their bond

Perhaps Luke may be able to help?

I’m not sure, it’s too risky. She has quite a crush on him. Obi-Wan reasoned.

Relax Obi-Wan it’ll be fine. Look how I turned out, Anakin replied

She’s too unstable Anakin, it could backfire very badly, Obi-Wan warned,

Trust the Force you must Obi-Wan Yoda chimed in through the bond, only by doing that, will you find peace, and the answers you seek.

Obi-Wan shook his head wearily. It was too much, Callista gone missing, and now his daughter hardly spoke to him. And the Force wasn’t offering any answers.

Chapter 2

Arbra

There was a stirring throughout the forest. Jedi Knight Dreyt Grumd reached out with his senses. The small telepathic rodents were suddenly silent. Something was definitely wrong.

The air in the forest stilled, not a sound could be heard, and nothing stirred. You could hear a pin drop.

He closed his eyes, and reached out with the Force. He didn’t sense anyone. All he could sense was a dark void. He reached down for his lightsaber and ignited it.

The sound of the snap-hiss of the lightsaber filled the forest.

“I knew you were here.” His gentle voice carried over the still air.

“then you know that your time to die has come.” The voice was menacing.

“If the Force requires me to die this day, then so be it.” The voice was calm, accepting, trusting.

“I really thought you’d be more of a fight Dreyt.”

The fight was on. As the lightsabers clashed the forest stirred as various species scurried for cover.

It wasn’t a long fight, it was obvious to Dreyt that his opponent was far stronger than he was, and he knew that he didn’t have long left this side of the Force, so he tried to send some kind of message to the other Jedi.

In less than a millisecond there was a searing pain through his midriff as a lightsaber sliced him, but then he felt nothing but peace, and became one with the Force.

Coruscant three days later

Jedi Master Yoda sat on his stool, part of the circle that was the Jedi Council. The Jedi Council was assembled to discuss the death of the numerous Jedi Knights.

“There have been no reports of Sith activities in any sector.” Master Secura spoke up, “I know we all sensed what Dreyt tried to tell us, but despite that, we’re no closer to finding a lead.” Ki Adi Mundi spoke up next, “forgive me Obi-Wan” he looked towards Obi-Wan, concern etched on his face; Obi-Wan nodded quietly, “but I must ask, is there any possibility it could be Callista?” Obi-Wan spoke up, “I am ready to accept that it’s a possibility, and if it is her, then it’s a situation we’ll need to deal with.” Mace Windu nodded gently.

“So where do we start our search for this Sith?” Quinlan Vos was the one who spoke next. A tall Jedi, from the planet Kiffex. He had once lost his memory, and had since danced dangerously close to the Dark Side. But despite that, he came back to the light, and had helped bring a killing blow to the separatist movement. As a Kiffu, he had the ability to read psychic imprints that people left on objects, it was a skill that had come to benefit the Jedi Order a great deal.

Yoda shifted in his chair, “mmmm, a good question to begin with that is.” Mace nodded quietly, “we’ll need to place two teams on this,” there was agreement in the chamber, “I therefore suggest that we send Obi-Wan and Anakin and their padawans.” Obi-Wan and Anakin nodded quietly.

Ki Adi Mundi coughed gently, all eyes turned to him. “if I may masters, if this Sith Lord turns out to be Callista, is it wise for Master and Padawan Kenobi to be the ones who face her? And I say this with all due respect of course.” He nodded to both Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Silence hung in the air for some moments before Po Kloon spoke up, “might I recommend that another master goes with them? If this is indeed a Sith Lord we are dealing with, then another master may well be necessary.” The entire chamber seemed to accept master Kloon’s gentle wisdom.

Mace rubbed his chin absently, “I agree with Master Kloon’s assessment,” he turned to Yoda for confirmation. “Agree I do. Come with you Master Vos will.” With that he looked towards Quinlan, who gave nothing away. He always did have a fantastic sabbac face.

Mace continued, “we’ll need a daily report on your progress, you have a week to get ready, who ever this Sith is, they’ve all ready killed twelve Jedi Knights, so you must use this time wisely.” Anakin took the lead, “of course masters.”

Yoda ended the meeting, “then may the Force be with us all.”

Temple Sparing Arena

Lightsabers clashed in the middle of the Sparing arena. Luke and Krioth were busy attacking Quinlan. “Remember to let the Force flow through you.” Master Vos said, as he blocked a lightsaber blow aimed at his back, while sending young Luke flying to the floor with a Force push.

They had been sparring for around two hours now, and they were beginning to tire. “The enemy will not give you an opportunity to rest, you must be able to fight beyond your own limitations, and rely on the Force.” Krioth somersaulted over a lightsaber swung at his feet. Quinlan’s face beamed with pride, “well done Krioth.” He blocked Luke’s attempt to slice of his head.

Krioth was so much like his father. Short cropped brown hair, with the characteristic padawan braid hanging down from behind his right ear. He was powerfully built for such a young man.

Krioth and Luke opened up something of a battle meld, and they attacked as one, and this had Quinlan being kept busy. Both were striking blows high and low, they pushed Quinlan to the very edge of his abilities.

A clapping sound echoed across the arena. All combatants stopped. Master Yoda hobbled over.

“So much like your Fathers you both are. Mmm yess. He heh heh.” He hobbled over to the young padawans, “an unbeatable team they were too, once they learned to work as one. Mindful of this you should be, save you it can.” Yoda jabbed his gimmer stick at the two young padawans.

Luke spoke up, “master Yoda?” Yoda turned to the young Luke, “a question you have young Skywalker?” Luke nodded, “I’m nervous master. What if it is Callista? Then what are we meant to do?” Yoda nodded sagely, “a good question that is young Luke, and an important one to ask as well.” Krioth looked up, “do your duty you should. Remember, to destroy the Sith you fore-swore.” Yoda looked at Krioth, “Your mother she is, know that I do. But if consumed by the Sith she has become, then gone she is.” Krioth nodded mutely, “I will not let you down master Yoda.” Yoda closed his eyes in silent meditation for a moment. “yesss, do your duty you will, but severely test you this will. Your trials these will be young ones.” Luke and Krioth nodded quietly, if by some miracle they weren’t killed by the Sith Lord, they would be Jedi Knights.

Chapter 3

Wild Space – An unknown planet

It was a very small room, the air was close and dank. Mould grew on the walls, and the only light, came via a ventilation grill in the highest point of the room. It was not fit for any sort of inhabitation. Yet it did have an occupant. And whoever kept her here, didn't think much of her to treat her in such a way.

She sat in the corner, her knee pulled up to her chin. Her body was covered in grim, blood and bruises, it was obvious she had been beaten many times, and some of them quite severe. One only had to look at her ribs that were showing through her torn tunic, to see the pain she'd been through. Her hair, which was probably once a golden blond, was matted with dirt, and was clumped together. By the state of her, and the smell, she'd not washed for some time. Her face was bruised to such an extent that her eyes were no more than slits. Her body was covered in grime and blood.

And yet her captors didn't seem to care. They just came in day in day out to deal out the punishment. And she wasn't even sure why. Neither was she sure how long she'd been here. She lost count of the days a long time ago.

She could hear the door being unlocked, and she braced herself as best she could for the beating that was about to come.

~*~*~*~*~*

Coruscant

The transport was not the most comfortable ships the Jedi had to offer, but it was one of the most functional. There was plenty of space for saber drills, private meditation and any thing else that the Jedi may need to do on a prolonged journey. Flight crews were swarming around the old freighter checking seals, and ensuring that all fluids and gasses needed for the trip were topped up.

It was an old Corellian Freighter that the Jedi had somehow acquired during the clone wars. It was a circular shape with two points sticking out at the front. They had yet to name the ship, but Luke suggested something like Beacon of Hope. But Krioth thought it sounded to wimpish. It took both Anakin and Obi-Wan to settle the debate, by calling it Iron Crow. Somewhat crestfallen, the two padawans got on with loading up the equipment as their father’s stood a bit further behind.

Anakin leaned towards Obi-Wan and whispered, “we were never that bad were we Obi-Wan?” Obi-Wan chuckled as he answered, “no Anakin…we were worse.” Anakin laughed at his friends comments. Their son’s were certainly like them in every detail. Anakin’s breath suddenly caught in his chest, “not every way I hope” he thought to himself. Memories of what he nearly did still haunted him from time to time. Those thoughts vanished as Quinlan bounded up to them. “Everything loaded up?” Obi-Wan nodded an affirmation, “yes, our personal valets have just finished loading the ship.” Obi-Wan said with a mischievous grin. Quinlan laughed, “You’ve been around Anakin for far too long Obi, you’ve picked up his bad habits.” There was no denying that. Obi-Wan was far more relaxed now that he wasn’t teaching Anakin, but that didn’t stop the odd nightmare cropping up with Luke. But even so, previous experience prepared him for what was to come now.

Quinlan laughed as he saw Luke and Krioth’s jaws drop. Obi-Wan couldn’t hold his mirth. It wasn’t a secret among the masters that the two youngsters had a massive crush on Aylaa Secura. But they were blissfully unaware that the masters knew. Aylaa walked right up to the three masters, “Masters” she said respectfully, each of them nodded with wide grins on their faces. “Oh knock it off all of you.” She reproached them jokingly, Anakin jokingly retorted, “you’re the one flashing the skin master.” Aylaa smiled at Anakin, and winked, “if only you weren’t married Anakin,” Anakin’s face went red. Which caused more mirth.

“Come on, we'd better get going.” Quinlan motioned towards the entry ramp of the Claw, as Anakin walked past Luke and Krioth, he half turned to them “pick up your jaws boys and let's move.” The youngsters duly followed.

Hyper-Space

Luke stood at a ready stance with a blast-shield over his eyes. A few feet above him, a stun droid hovered, sending stun bolts at the young Jedi. Obi-Wan sat on a bench, his hand stroking his beard absently, “remember Luke, a Jedi can feel the Force flow through him.” Luke nodded, and centred himself. The droid shifted positions every few seconds trying to catch Luke unawares. He'd not been stunned once yet, however Obi-Wan sometimes controlled the droid to try and catch him out. But Luke managed to block every bolt.

Quinlan entered the mock-up training area, “Come on Obi, don't you ever give your padawan a break?” Obi-Wan laughed gently, “I do, only when they've earned it.” Anakin overhearing their conversation chimed it, “no wonder I turned out the way I did then.” he said with a smirk. Obi-Wan looked to Quinlan, “Aylaa taking a shift at the helm?” Quinlan nodded, Obi-Wan tilted his head towards his friend, “How are things between you two? You together yet?” Quinlan suppressed a laugh, “you know you're as bad as your wife. All I ever heard from her was, 'Ask her Quinlan, or else I'll do it for you.'” Obi-Wan smiled, it'd been a while since anyone spoke of his wife in a way other than a suspect, “Well consider me taking over from her, well, are you together yet?” Quinlan nodded, “yeah, two hours ago, we had a very honest discussion in the cockpit.” Obi-Wan nodded towards Luke and Krioth, “you know you've just broken their hearts.” Quinlan shook his head laughing.

Anakin was busy preparing the food. It didn't smell too good, but then, Anakin wasn't all that good a cook. “Come and get it if you dare.” he yelled. Each came in with a tray to receive a helping of what ever it was that Anakin had concocted, and sat at the make-shift dinner table. Luke pawed at his food nervously with his fork. “You sure this is edible dad?” he asked, Anakin nodded, “yeah it is,” he put a fork-full in his mouth and immediately spat it out! “Eurgh, then again, maybe not.” The table collapsed into a fit of giggles. “Anakin!” Obi-Wan said between fits of giggles, “You've been married for thirteen years, and you've STILL not learned to cook. How did you survive Luke?” Obi-Wan turned to his padawan, Luke's gave him a one-word answer, “Dex's.”

Their laughter was cut short by a proximity alarm. Aylaa's voice crackled over the comm system, “action stations everyone, looks like we've got some company. And it isn't the friendly variety.”

Unheard of I know, but yet another update. I'm on fire today. As ever, please let me know what you think. It'd be nice to know that someone out there is reading it!

Chapter 4

Wild Space - Unkown Planet

The lock in the door cluncked loudly. She didn't have any strength left to fight them anymore, and she braced herself for the beating that was undoubtedly to come. She scrunched herself into the corner of the room, but after a few moments, she noticed they weren’t coming in.

The bigger one spoke. His voice was gruff, with no hint of compassion in it. “Get up” She placed her hands against the wall behind her to lever herself on to her feet. Her body was twitching, such was the condition she was in. It was obvious that she was weak, her body shivered, she was freezing cold.

The man stood at the door threw some clothes at her, they hit her in the face. “Cover yourself up, we’re going for a ride.” She was going out? Her mind started to swim with thoughts of escape, “don’t even think about it sweet heart, twitch the wrong direction, and I’ll shoot your head clean off your shoulders.” She believed him.

The men stood there gawping, as she removed her old clothes, she stood before them naked for a few moments as she struggled with her new clothing. It was only now one could see the true extent of her state, one could see every bone in her body, such was the state of her malnourishment. They fed her, but it was the bare minimum to prevent her becoming strong enough to escape. The endless beatings also helped sap not only her physical strength, but also her emotional strength.

Soon as she was dressed, they placed a cloth sack over her head, and dragged her off to wherever it was she was to go. She may not have been able to see, but as Obi-Wan constantly told her, “your eyes can deceive you, don’t trust them.” And reaching out, she was able to get some sort of semblance of where she was.

She’d been cautious about using the Force before now, as she was threatened with severe consequences if she used them to try and escape. However now, she felt there wouldn’t be such a risk of discovery. She concentrated on memorizing each and every detail, it may be important. She was aware of the fact that she was on a speeder, as to where she was headed towards, she had no idea. Wherever she was headed, it was taking some time to get there.

The goons said nothing throughout the whole journey. She asked for a drink at one point, and one of her captors stuck a clear pipe under the hood and stuck it in her mouth. He squeezed the bottle, and an ice cold liquid came through. She managed four large gulps before he snatched it away. She felt somewhat refreshed now. She could feel the drink going to work hydrating her body.

After a while, she noted that the engine note started to drop. They were slowing down. But still she wasn’t all that sure where she was. Eventually, she sensed that they’d stopped. The fact was confirmed when they handled her roughly to her feet and marched her down the ramp towards a non descript building. Their boots echoed through the empty corridors, but she didn’t have boots. She walked bare-footed trying to take her time. The cool floor was like heaven to her. Wherever she was, it was really hot. She surmised that she was under ground.

Eventually they arrived at whatever room they were meant to be at, and two men grabbed her by the arms, and leaded her towards the wall at the back of the room. They raised her arms above her and put them in manacles. And there they left her and walked out of the room.

It was then she knew something was wrong. She couldn’t connect to the Force. Something was blocking it. Like a dampening field of some sort. Whoever held her hostage, they were technically advanced, that was for certain. She may not have been able to connect to the Force, but that didn’t mean that she stopped being a Jedi. She cleared her mind, and calmed her breathing. At least she couldn’t be punished for using the Force if she couldn’t connect to it.

Four Hours Later

Light stung her eyes. She tried to move her hands to shield her eyes, but forgot that they were bolted to the wall. She looked around, trying to take in her surroundings. It appeared there was quite an audience. The room was a bit bigger than her previous one, this one at least had a bed, and a table. There was a light in this one too, and the air was fresh. A tall man walked through the throng, all smiles, “Ah Mrs Kenobi, you’re awake. I do hope you weren’t inconvenienced? How do you like being our guest.” He was a tall humanoid. He had a hooked nose, and slicked back grey hair. He had an air of military commander about him. His manners suggested a good upbringing, possibly born into the aristocracy of some planet or other. Callista smiled, “the room service was lousy. I would fire your concierge if I were you.” Her tone was light, but there was an edge to her voice.

The apparent leader actually laughed. “Oh, you don’t need to concern yourself with them, they have been “fired”. You see, they were under orders not to harm you, and looking at the state of you, they certainly did. For that I do sincerely appologise.” Callista tried to bite back all the cuss words that she knew, before responding with sarcasm, “how awful for you. I hope that YOU weren’y inconvenienced?” The man wagged his finger, “you remind me of your husband. He has an ascorbic wit as well Mrs Kenobi.” Callista rolled her eyes, she hated false politeness, “what do you want?” The man raised his eyebrows surprise, “why, we want your husband Mrs Kenobi.” “And keeping me hostage is the way to do it? How long have you held me captive now? Three months? You’ve done such a good job of hiding me, it’s no wonder he’s not found me.” The man laughed, “perhaps my dear, except…When he does come, he’ll find you. Oh yes, he’ll find you.”

He motioned to one of his minions, who stepped aside. Callista’s eyes went wide with shock. There standing before her, was a mirror image of her. A clone. The man continued, “we had some trouble trying to get her to access the Force, but then we happened upon the research of the excellent Emperor Palpatine, he found a way to infuse the Force into a group of clones. We’ve just refined the process a little.” Callista was disgusted, “he’ll see through it.” Again, he wagged his finger. “I wouldn’t be so fast my dear,” he began pacing the room. “You see, over the last few months, Callista,” he pointed towards the clone.” She, or rather, you have been very busy, killing Jedi here and there. So when Obi-Wan finds you, he’ll think you killed them all.” The full horror dawned on her, as she realized what this would mean. She had to get out of here.

The man carried on, “now I know that you don’t want to be hung on that wall until your husband comes to get you. It can be bad for your shoulders.” With another motion of his hand, another minion came towards here and injected her in both her legs, her arms, and her chest. Once his task was done, he scuttled off. The man looked pleased as he pressed a button on his wrist pad, the manacles came loose. “there,” he said cordially, “doesn’t that feel better?” Callista was busy rubbing her wrist to comment, trying to get the circulation back into her arms. “One think I don’t understand, how did you sever my connection to the Force?” Now the man beamed with pride, “my dear, we never severed your connection with the Force, we merely dampened it. Now you’re probably wondering what it was my man injected into your system?” Callista’s body tensed up. She knew she wasn’t going to like this. “You see, we’ve been working on nano technology, and we’ve developed a rather nifty little gadget, here let me show you.” He pressed a button on his wrist pad.

Her body suddenly spasmed with pain. She felt intense pain in her shins, she collapsed to the floor screaming. It was clear that she was in agony. “Amazing is it not?” he stood over her. He didn’t move to ease her pain, “for any other man to experience what you’re experiencing now, they’d have to have their legs broken. It’s one of our finest inventions.” Her eyes were red, sore tears welled up in her eyes. “You cannot escape, if you do, we’ll press the button, if you try anything funny, we’ll press the button. Do you understand?” She struggled to nod. “Excellent” he said, and he tapped another button, and as fast as the pain began, it ended.

She lay there, panting. Her situation was grim, but she knew she had to get out of here. Quickly.

Would first like to say I really enjoyed this Story and though have not read the previous one, was able to jump right in and follow the story very nicely.

Please add me to your PM list

I did want to bring something to your attention though. You have a tendency to run lines of dialogue from different characters together. It makes it confusing to follow who is saying what and should be placed in separate paragraphs.

Here is an example:

Also in Chapter 2 you wrote:

Silence hung in the air for some moments before Po Kloon spoke up, “might I recommend that another master goes with them? If this is indeed a Sith Lord we are dealing with, then another master may well be necessary.” The entire chamber seemed to accept master Kloon’s gentle wisdom.

You mispelled Plo Koon's name. I am honestly not sure if Plo Koon was the intended character or not because you used Kloon twice. Just wanted to point that out for clarification.

Look forward to the next chapter

Milteck
