	Title: No fun under the suns Characters: Luke, Obi-wan, Biggs & other kids Rating: G Summary: Luke fights with his friends then runs off into the desert Wordcount: 468 Ten year old Luke Skywalker threw the ball back to Biggs. “ I don’t wanna play dodge ball!” “Why,” Camie asked. “Because you all gang up on me!” “ Do not!” Deak protested, “we always play fair don’t we Windy?” “ Yup, it’s not our fault you’re a nerf, Wormie.” “ I am not a nerf and don’t call me Wormie!” “Are so!” The children chimed in unison, “ nerf! nerf! nerf!” “ Well I’m not playing anymore – ever!” Luke stalked off into the desert. “Hey Luke where are you going?” asked Biggs. “ Home!” Biggs laughed, “home? But that’s twelve parsecs away!” Luke ignored him and kept walking. Camie called after him,“ Luke come back! We wont tease you anymore –promise!” Luke ran until he couldn’t see the Darklighter farmstead anymore. Hot tears streamed down his face attracting sand that stuck to his skin like glue. To the uninitiated the desert was a featureless wasteland. But years in this environment had trained Luke to pick up the slightest variations in geography and memorise every rocky outcrop. The suns beat down on his head and despite his hat and sunscreen he could feel his pale skin burning. He needed to rest until the midday heat was over. He sat in the shadow of a huge rock. Why did the other kids have to be so mean to him? They were his friends but they sure didn’t act like it sometimes. “ I wish, I wish my mother was here!” Curling up in the sand he sobbed himself to sleep. * * * “ Luke, Luke,” someone nudged his shoulder. Slowly he opened his eyes to see a middle aged man with wispy white hair and a short beard. “ Who are you?” “ My name is Ben Kenobi,” he put out his hand and Luke shook it. “Mr Kenobi how do you know my name?” He chuckled, “ I know a lot of things I should not.” Luke looked around, “ oh no it’s almost dark! Aunt Beru will be so worried!” Ben stood and pulled Luke up, “ then we should head off home.” “ What about the Sandpoeple?” “ I know a few tricks to keep them away.” Together they walked to the Lars homestead. It was pitch black by the time they arrived. Luke turned to the old man. “ Are you going to come in Mr Kenobi? I’m sure my aunt and uncle will want to thank you for finding me.” “No, I don’t need anyone’s thanks except your’s.” “ Thank you Mr Kenobi.” “ Call me Ben.” “ Ben,” he walked towards the dwelling then turned around and waved, “see you later!” Before running down the stairs. 	Hehe. Nice title. I always like young Luke stories. And it’s nice to see him miss his ‘mother’ for a change. Why did the other kids have to be so mean to him? They were his friends but they sure didn’t act like it sometimes. Poor Luke. I remember the whole friendship politics of childhood.
