Ysanne Isard
On Coruscant the city was still buzzing about what had transpired over the last 48 hours as the Chancellor had been overthrown by the Jedi and the war was over. The election of the new Chancellor Bail Organa was also just as news worthy as it was widely praised and accepted. For the most part the entire city was alive with celebrations as their were fireworks going off and parties found easily on each city level regardless of the areas wealth.
Ysanne Isard was not in a mood to celebrate; however, as the chancellor being overthrown meant she now found herself unemployed. Chancellor Organa’s first act was to surrender the emergency powers once the peace treaty was signed which had fueled the Republic’s war effort against the separatists and given Palpatine all of his powers. Among his first acts of Chancellor was disbanding some of the military institutions ranging from the Chancellor’s elite security guards to the Isard’s Intelligence agency. The Imperial Intelligence organization had its funding completely removed making it impossible for her to continue the operations that Chancellor Palpatine wished her and her father to be engaged in.
Currently Ysanne Isard had a crude fire going where she was throwing into it data chips with sensitive information the Chancellor wished her to collect ranging from Jedi secrets to top secret projects. She also had in her possession many files about secrets about many of the elite senators of the Republic whose contents could pose embarrassing to their political future and considered using them to blackmail some money out of them. Most notably was the information she discovered about Senator Amidala relating to her secret relationship with the Jedi Anakin Skywalker. That information was highly coveted by the Chancellor, who explained to her it was worth a small fortune and delighted on possessing such condemning information about one of the elite Jedi of the order.
She held that data card now as she considered what exactly she should do with it when she found herself interrupted by the sounds of her private communications system going off. She was startled as she had disabled the standard communication system going into her office as she did not want to be disturbed, but had left the private system operational as it was designed to give her an exclusive private line to the Chancellor. She sat down behind her desk and keyed in her code on the panel to open the line.
She gasped as the holographic image appeared on her desk and the face of a youthful Palpatine stared back at her. It was hard to grasp exactly how he had done it, but she had no doubt that this was him and that he had cheated death. She had always marveled at the power the man wielded in addition to the cunning audacity he used on a daily basis to get what he wanted. At the time of his death, he could honestly boast that he was the most powerful man in the galaxy eclipsing even the Jedi in both prestige and political power. It also explained the reason Ysanne Isard was so attracted to the man feeling for him in ways that she had only shared with one other.
Darth Sidious allowed himself a few moments to stare at the young woman who he had nicknamed Iceheart because she was as cold and ruthless as her icy complexion. Not a woman who was particularly beautiful in the physical sense, she was unusually tall with long black hair with white streaks placed throughout it to make her look like a middle aged woman though she was still relatively young being in her early twenties. She also had been born cross eyed and in order to correct the ailment, her father had a procedure performed on her that gave her normal eye sight but it also gave her a rare and untreatable condition known as heterochromia iridium. The condition most notably changed the color of her left eye from blue to bright red, while also subtly producing violent mood swings within her that Ysanne would have to work all her life to bring under control. Her appearance made her look very formidable and had impressed him with her sharp mind and fearless personality while containing all the intangibles that Darth Sidious looked for in a good subordinate.
During his reign as Chancellor, he had frequently requested her presence when her father Armand Isard came before him to give his intelligence reports. During the Clone Wars, Darth Sidious soon requested her presence more often and in complete privacy of his office as he began to have an intimate relationship with her. She soon gain accessed to his inner circle of trusted subordinates and became one of the few during the Clone Wars to learn of his true identity as Darth Sidious. He enjoyed manipulating her feelings so that the devotion of love she felt for him was twisted into absolute devotion to carry out his sinister will. He had allowed her to establish her own dark sleeper cell on Coruscant where she became his private Intelligence Agent. All of this was done behind her father’s back as her cover was to become a Republic Intelligence Agent which allowed her complete access to all efforts made by the Republic military to discover his true identity as Darth Sidious.
Her abilities were exceptional and she quickly became one of his top Operatives while at the same time serving Darth Sidious by protecting his dark secrets. Darth Sidious was comfortable to say that he completely trusted her and was perhaps the only person in the galaxy other then Tarkin who he completely trusted. He looked upon her and smiled as in his new youthful voice asked, “Ysanne Isard what is your situation on Coruscant?”
Whatever feelings of joy or shock Ysanne was feeling, the were replaced by her demands from duty as she replied to him formally, “The new Supreme Chancellor Bail Organa has cut all funding for my agency and I was in the process of shutting it down. I was in the middle of destroying all sensitive and compromising data while shutting everything down.”
Darth Sidious was pleased followed by bringing his attention back onto her and what she needed him to accomplish as he did not hesitate to order, “I want you to continue destroying any highly classified information regarding my construction projects in space and cloning.”
“It will be done my lord.”
“Then I want you to take the information that you collected about Anakin Skywalker and give it to the press so they can begin to run the story about his affair with Senator Amidala. Ensure that you send it anonymously so they won’t be able to trace it back to you and in addition I want you to provide them with the story regarding his revenge against the sand people whom killed his mother.”
Ysanne Isard was surprised to see Palpatine now eager to finally start smearing the reputation of the young Jedi whom he had always looked after but did not question it. “The second story will take time as there are no sources for validity for it besides his private testimonial to you about it.”
“Write something up creative about what happened and feel free to inflate the numbers so it appears to be a true massacre compared to what it actually was.”
“Understood my Lord, I will proceed at once to produce it.”
Palpatine then crossed his arms before continuing, “Next I will need you to use all means at your disposal to find and capture my former assistants Sly Moore and most importantly Mas Amedda. They must be silenced so the Jedi do not learn any of the secrets they observed about me or my plans for the Galactic Empire.”
She did not have to ask why or what he meant by silencing them as she replied, “My lord I will precede as you ask but understand my personnel has been dismissed as without funding will be difficult to hire help.”
Palpatine did not reply immediately as he held his hands together in front of him lining up his fingers so that his hands were now in a pyramid shape. “Very well then I will arrange for such assistance to be sent your way to help you take care of my servants. I have attached to this transmission my new personal code so that you can keep in contact with me and keep me informed about your progress.”
“Understood; I will not fail you my lord.”
Palpatine nodded to her in approval followed by ceasing the transmission as the holographic faded. Ysanne Isard did not waste any time as she continued to destroy what was left of her sensitive documentation then she sat down behind her desk and began to write the story she titled the Anakin Skywalker: Jedi butcher and misfit to the Jedi Order.

Yikes! Two posts while I was gone! Wow, so Anakin's secrets are going public? Also, the fleet that Tarkin was in charge of is leaving Coruscant, so does this mean there is no protection over Coruscant? I hope the Jedi Council does something quick.

Manipulation has always been one of Darth Sidious's best weapons. I am sure he will be using those abilities in his upcoming campaign against the Jedi.

Sorry if not clear, but Tarkin's fleet left from Wayland and not Coruscant. However you did catch that currently there is nothing to protect Coruscant from attack. I wonder how Darth Sidious will respond once he learns of this?

Hopefully the Council will be more open minded and sympathetic to the Chosen One. Yoda and Mace have already committed themselves to giving Anakin his chance to bring balance to the Jedi Order. Yoda has also prepared Mace with the knowledge that Anakin will be forced to overcome his dark secrets if he is to succeed in bringing balance.

I really do love this story. How you convey each of the characters is true to the spirit of the films, and this outcome actually seems plausible. I give you so much credit because, honestly, AU ROTS stories are all over the place. They've become redundant, and mostly feel so out of character to the truth of Anakin and his fears, and the actions of those around him, namely Obi-Wan, Padme, Palpatine even. But you get the idea.
You certainly have captured these characters, and the emotion is there. Especially in Anakin, who so many seem to have a hard time bring out the fact that he COULD be good. Which I give you props for. Nice story, it has me hooked.
You can add me to the PM List if you don't mind, I really don't want to miss out on the story.

I agree with you that the AU ROTS stories are all over the place and am very happy you decided to take a chance with mine. I did a lot of research for this story and wrote it based on what could have happened if Anakin had not turned. Anakin was a good person and it was because of his fears for Padme, dark secrets, and combined with the pressure placed upon him as the Chosen One to excel as a Jedi. He was manipulated by Darth Sidious from the beginning and his mistrust in Mace Windu sealed his fate to become Darth Vader.

I’ve never been a big fan of Ysanne Isard, basically because of her nickname “Iceheart” but she is a cool character and having her in the mix is always interesting. And after what Sidious did to her, I do feel a little sorry for the woman. Not much but a little.

Sidious did take advantage of her to some degree, but she also allowed herself to be taken advantage for her own sinister reasons.
