My Hero- Response to Qui/Obi Songfic Challenge - one post, Obi-Wan and Siri's dramatic rescue.
Challenge:
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Songfic/Poem Challenge
Title:
My Hero
Author: Karachi_Kenja
Timeframe:
sometime between TPM and AotC
Characters:
Obi-Wan and Siri
Genre:
Songfic, Siriwan, some angst.
Summary:
A mission goes wrong and Siri has been captured...and a hero will rescue Siri.
Notes:
This is my first attempt at a songfic, so it will be a bit shabby.
Disclaimer:
Sadly, I don't own Star Wars or it's characters.
MY HERO
Siri Tachi tried to control her fear as she walked into the throne room of the Whipid Crime Lord, Ka'trukk. Her hands were behind her back, with a pair of stun cuffs binding them and cutting off an effective route of escape. Besides, she could not escape with out the use of her lightsaber, and most definitely not with the surplus of guards in the room.
She had been on a mission with Her Padawan, Ferus, and with Obi-Wan and his Padawan, Anakin. She had been captured, knocked out and subdued, and apparently been carted off to another planet. She had no idea where she was. The Whipid Crime Lord stood up from his jewelled throne.
"Aaah, welcome
Jedi
," he boomed in his menacing tone. He was one of the few Whipids that could speak Galactic Basic, due to his affiliation with criminals all over the galaxy. "You and your meddling brats have interfered with our plan for the last time!!"
Siri just glared at the Crime Lord. Somehow, being assigned on too many missions with Obi-Wan and Anakin had some how stopped her habit of talking back. If not for hearing too many of Obi-Wan's lectures, she would have already snapped at the hulking Whipid. Siri made a mental note not to go near Obi-Wan and Anakin when Obi-Wan gave one of his infamous lectures about 'following my lead' and 'speaking only when it is necessary' -and that was quite often!
"So, Jedi, you have nothing to say? Well, it doesn't matter. I will enjoy watching you suffer. And don't even think of escaping, for you have no chance." The Crime Lord turned to the guards. "Take her away, to the fortress and lock her up in the most secure place you can find. I will see to her when I feel like some... entertainment." Ka'trukk finished his sentence by clenching his fist and then rubbing his large tusks as Siri was helplessly dragged away.
* * *
A MONTH LATER...
Siri sat in the cell, wondering how to get out of this mess. She had been whipped mercilessly for Ka'trukk's entertainment, then thrown back into the cell with only half a stale piece of bread and a cup of water to serve as her food source each day. The wounds had torn her tunic in many places and caused bleeds all over her body. The pain was agonizing, sometimes bad enough to jolt her violently from her sleep. There was a small window in the room for her to look through- but it was too small for even Master Yoda to get through. She sighed. It was in the early hours of the morning, and it was a good idea to get some sleep. She suddenly heard a scratching noise coming form the outside of the fortress. Could someone be trying to get to her? A sensation of hope filled Siri as the scratching got louder. Her heart beat wildly at the thought of being rescued room this terrible place. Her suspicions were confirmed as a shadow loomed at the window.
*
In the middle of the night,
My hero comes to rescue,
He's so fine I'm-gonna make him mine
*
Siri could feel that the person at the window had the same feelings as she did- for their heart was racing. She got up and anxiously approached the window.
*
He’s sincere- I know his heart is beating
Just for me, only for me
.*
The window had a latch on the outside, and not the inside. The person at the window then unlocked the window, and opened it. The person spoke hesitantly in a clipped, Coruscanti accent. "Siri? Is that you?"
Siri would recognise that voice from anywhere. "Obi-Wan?" she said hesitantly at first, but she was glad that it was her old friend. Oh, the sheer joy of being rescued! She would finally be going home, back to Ferus, back to the Jedi. She looked back at Obi-Wan. He had appeared to have gotten up using his liquid cable launcher and some grapnel hooks. He was precariously standing on a ledge on the building's wall.
"Yes, it's me," came the reply. A beam of moonlight illuminated the small cell, and Siri could see the relief etched in Obi-Wan's bearded face. "Force, Siri, what have you gotten yourself into this time? Maybe you should see what it's like having to control two yelling, screaming teenagers and having to know that one of your friends has been captured and being tortured! Anakin and Ferus have been so uptight I almost can't control them."
Siri rolled her eyes. Even in this dire situation, Obi-Wan still had his sense of humour. "Never mind that, Kenobi! Just get me out of rotting, stinking, dump!"
Obi-Wan sighed. "This is only a short visit. Now that I know where you are, it'll be easier to rescue you."
Siri's joyful mood turned into sadness at her friend's words. So she wasn't going to be rescued? That wasn't good. Obi-Wan could sense her disappointment. "Don't worry, Siri. I'll come back to you," he encouraged, hoping that his words would give her some hope. "Once we find a way to penetrate the Fortress' defence, we will rescue you, and then you can go home, okay?"
Siri looked at Obi-Wan with pleading eyes. "You'd better, Kenobi, or I'll do something to you that you won't forget for the rest of your life!" she whispered fiercely.
"I promise, Siri. I promise. I'll see you soon," Obi-Wan said, before shifting his position and jumping off and letting the wind take him away. He cast one last look at Siri before disappearing into the night.
*But at the break of dawn he is gone,
The wind has carried him away.
But like a comet on the sky,
He will return, someday.*
* * *
Siri sighed and looked out the window. The sun was slowly rising, creating a rich blend of gold and blue in the sky. She had faith in him that he would come back.
I know you'll come back for me Obi-Wan Kenobi. I know you will
, she thought.
*
He’s my lover out of sight,
And he will come and save me,
I can feel, his love for me is real.
I don't know, If he can hear me praying
Don’t let go, never let go.*
* * *
TWO DAYS LATER...
Siri was awoken by a familiar scratching noise. It could only mean one thing. Obi-Wan was back. But there was a problem. The scratching was coming from the roof, not the wall. Siri didn't know what to expect until the Force screamed a warning and half of the roof caved in. She screamed. It didn't really matter what noise she made- there were not guards up here, since Lord Ka'trukk claimed the cell to be 'unable to be escaped from'. So much for that idea. Obi-Wan poked his head through the hole in the ceiling. "Good Morning, Siri," he said cheerfully. "Ready to go home?"
"Nice way to wake me up, Kenobi," Siri replied sarcastically. "It's about time I got out of here. It smells worse than bantha fodder."
Obi-Wan lowered a cable line down to Siri and she attached it to the remains of her belt as Obi-Wan pulled her up. There was another cable line attached to a tall tree nearby. Obi-Wan grinned at Siri. "I had to borrow Ferus and Anakin's cable launchers for this.," he said, pointing at the setup.
"Nice, work Kenobi, can we get out of here already?"
"Alright. Just hang on tight, and don't look down." Obi-Wan then took his cable line launcher and let it fly. It hooked onto Anakin's. Testing the weight, Obi-Wan jumped. The two of them flew down the cable towards a large tree. Siri was glad to be back out in the open, with the wind whipping in her hair. The two Jedi then swung around on a second cable line that took them to the ground. Siri collapsed onto the ground, too happy about being set free to care about anything else, while Obi-Wan gathered up the cable launchers and attached them to his belt. He picked Siri up off the ground.
Siri gave Obi-Wan a hug. She was finally free, and it was thanks to him. She sighed with happiness as Obi-Wan hugged her back.
*
You are my hero,
I love you,
And all I want to know,
Is if you love me too.
You are my hero,
I like you,
Oh won’t you take me away,
And make my dreams come true
.*
"My hero..." Siri whispered into Obi-Wan. "Obi-Wan, thank you so much for getting me out of there."
"My pleasure, Siri," Obi-Wan replied.
*
You are my hero,
My one and only hero,
What a Hero!*
"Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are my hero. My one and only hero," Siri stated softly, giving Obi-wan a small kiss on the cheek. "It thought I was a goner for sure!"
Obi-Wan smiled. "Why thank you, Siri. Now, let's go home, shall we?" The two Knights began walking to Obi-Wan's small transport. "I don't think I can face Ferus and Anakin's wrath for a second longer."

Awww...that was a really sweet songfic
Karachi!
Loved how you've set the story, the crime Lord Ka'trukk kind of reminds me of Jabba in some way and how he deals with his prisoners,
So, Jedi, you have nothing to say? Well, it doesn't matter. I will enjoy watching you suffer. And don't even think of escaping, for you have no chance." The Crime Lord turned to the guards. "Take her away, to the fortress and lock her up in the most secure place you can find. I will see to her when I feel like some... entertainment."
Poor Siri being held captive made me feel sorry for her,
but luckily Obi-Wan saves the day!
"Good Morning, Siri," he said cheerfully. "Ready to go home?"
"Nice way to wake me up, Kenobi," Siri replied sarcastically.
"It's about time I got out of here. It smells worse than bantha fodder."
Loved the conversation between Obi-Wan and Siri,
and the song interwoven in the story was lovely!
*You are my hero,
I love you,
And all I want to know,
Is if you love me too.
You are my hero,
I like you,
Oh won’t you take me away,
And make my dreams come true.*
"My hero..." Siri whispered into Obi-Wan. "Obi-Wan, thank you so much for getting me out of there."
"My pleasure, Siri," Obi-Wan replied.
*You are my hero,
My one and only hero,
What a Hero!*
"Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are my hero. My one and only hero,"
Siri stated softly, giving Obi-wan a small kiss on the cheek.
"I thought I was a goner for sure!"
Great job on writing this!
A heartwarming and enjoyable fic!

Aww! How heartwarming.
I loved the interaction between Siri and Obi-Wan - how despite Siri's obvious feelings for him, she can't help but tease him.
Siri didn't know what to expect until the Force screamed a warning and half of the roof caved in.
*snorts*
Oh, Obi. Trying to impress the lady, are we?
The song you chose was both touching and fitting, and you did an excellent job of weaving it into the story. A wonderful songfic,
Karachi
!
If you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have guessed this was your first attempt at one.

Actually, Ka'trukk was based on Jabba. I was going to have a hutt, but that would be too obvious.

I've read some Jedi Quest and that's Siri's attitiude towards Obi-Wan, so that's what my Siri is like.
Nienna_Narmolanya:
If you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have guessed this was your first attempt at one.
I sorta read one and got the idea on how to do it, and how i got the idea for it helped too, when I was imagining Jedi singing songs. I originally had Siri and Padmé sing this song about Obi-Wan and Anakin, at the time of the Clone Wars.
Oh, Obi. Trying to impress the lady, are we?
No doubt!
Thanks to both of you for reading!!
