Even in a galaxy far far away the tabloids rear their ugly heads.
It was nice to see that every now and then Obi-wan thinks about Anakin and wonders what it would of been like had he been able to train him...Thankfully that never happened.

For some reason, I found this so very sad. Obi-Wan was keeping track of Anakin and I think he almost misses him. The memory of Qui-Gon's last request must still prey on him occasionally but still be there. I know that Anakin and Padme will be happy but still...
I loved that he used the Force even a little bit. I would have thought he would have tried various things since he does have the gift and he'd know what was possible through his collection and any reading he might have done.
Still sad...
Great job.

Can I call him too? It would be so much easier to vacuum and rearrange the furniture on a whim...and I bet Anakin would look sexy doing it 
Poor Darred - totally unprepared for Tatooine's tropical weather. 
I loved how Obi-Wan has been following Anakin's career.

All caught up again! And btw, why am I not receiving update PMs for this story?! 
This story is so lovely I find myself grinning from ear to ear the entire time I'm reading! The "proposal" was so romantic and beautiful.  And you can't help but love his awkwardness and shyness at times, such as when Padme's family arrived.
Now, as far as this media article is concerned...  The bloodthirsty rancors are just chomping at the bit, HOPING for a scandal or divorce to give them more to write about, and I'm sure they're not above making up something if they have to.
Loving this fic even more with each post, K!

A very good chapter which answers the anticipated questions about what Padme's family think of Tatooine, and the tabloids' and Obi-Wan's reactions to the engagement.
So both families finally meet each other.  No wonder Anakin's nervous:
Padmé glanced at Anakin, her eyes alight with laughter although her expression remained solemn. “Nervous?” she asked.
Anakin turned a pale, panicked face her way. “What makes you think that?” he croaked.
Behind them, Shmi stifled her laughter while Cliegg pretended to cough. Anakin seemed unaware of either reaction.
 It reminded me of the conversation in Airplane!(1980):
[as the plane prepares to take off]
Hanging Lady: Nervous?
Ted Striker: Yes.
Hanging Lady: First time?
Ted Striker: No, I've been nervous lots of times.
I always thought that both families would like each other when they met, in particular the parents. Padme's nieces I expected to ask this:
Finally, impatient with his lack of interest, Ryoo tugged at his tunic and he looked down, startled. The little girl held up her arms and obediently, Anakin reached down for her. Ryoo tilted her head and pursed her lips. “Can I call you Uncle Anakin now?” she asked.
“I’d be honored,” Anakin replied.
Triumphantly, Ryoo turned to her sister. “See? I told you so!”
They really want to tell everyone in school that Anakin is their uncle, don't they?  
I also expected some comment to be made on how hot Tatooine is:
Sola seemed to be fussing about her dress while Darred appeared to be gasping for breath.
“Dear gods,” he muttered, pulling at his collar.
“At least you’re not here during the hot season,” Anakin soothed with a grin.
“It gets worse?” Darred asked in disbelief. “That’s not possible.” He grimaced. “Human life cannot possibly be sustained in such heat.”
“Don’t be such a baby,” Sola admonished, though her own face was glistening by now as well.
Anakin's moving of the case using the Force I've no problem with, for the reasons you gave at the end. I liked Ruwee's comment:
It was Ruwee who finally spoke. “Well now, that’s a neat trick.” He grinned. “Remind me to call you the next time Jobal wants to move the furniture around.”
Nice to see that Obi-Wan still kept track of Anakin's career as a pod racer. I had thought that some Jedi would be interested in sports, but without tending to 'yell and scream obscenities'. I compliment you, Vader, by saying that the tabloid article certainly read like a typical one!
It's also nice that Obi-Wan then thinks well of Anakin and wishes him well:
Obi-Wan could think of only one thing. He remembered Anakin’s wide eyes staring at Padmé as if she was the most beautiful being in the galaxy. All the signs of a first love had been there, even in a boy of nine years old.
Anakin Skywalker, it seemed, had achieved at least one of his childhood dreams.
“Good for you, Anakin,” Obi-Wan murmured with satisfaction. “Good for you.”
So say all of us readers!

I'm finally caught up! I still love this story. Anakin is so dreamy in it, but still has those little quirks which keep him Anakin (to me, in most stories you can't have Anakin without angst. That just seems to define his character. You've succeeded here, though!)
I guess Obi-Wan ignored the Force's call or at least felt there was nothing else he could do to answer it when the Council said "no" to his training Anakin. It will be fun to see where you go from here. I assume paradise won't last forever for the Skywalkers...

Aww! This is just great and warm and sweet and fluffy. I was reading one of the starwars books the other day--can't remember the title and Anakin was musing over what would have been if the Jedi Council had refused him---and about being a podracer etc. I love the fact that that little bit of musing is now fully explored in your fic. Add me to the list of those waiting for an update *g*
